If you get the time I'd love to see a Bulldogs-specific wishlist, maybe a top 25? I asked you similar last year and a couple others did them too. I've got my own but it's solely informed by stuff I've read online and a couple highlight reels / streamed matches.

Just a list of players I could see us being interested in no particular order.

1. Timothy English (203cm, 86kg) (Athletic Ruckman) (1st Round) - Few ruckman move as well or dispose of the footy as well as English does. He is a very unique prospect that will possibly go even higher than our first.
2. Timothy Taranto (186cm, 82kg) (Goal kicking midfielder) (1st Round) - One of my favourites for our first pick capable of both finding a lot of the footy, using it well, has very good agility, endurance and speed too.
3. Daniel Venables (186cm, 81kg) (Goal kicking forward/Mid) (1st round) - One of the players who could go earlier than our first, he is a bit inconsistent as things are now however he has a similiar X factor, speed and power to Dustin Martin or Patrick Dangerfield. Could be anything.
4. Jy Simpkin (181cm, 81kg) (Small Forward/Midfielder) (1st Round/2nd Round) - Likely to fall between our picks but one that I really think would do well at our club. He has X factor, speed and good ball use and would have been a top ten selection had he not had a broken leg that ended his year prematurely.
5. Griffin Logue (193cm, 92kg) (Tall Defender) (1st Round/Second Round) - The best KPD in this years draft. Logue has speed, the ability to rebound, is a big body already (due to his rowing background) and has already played senior WAFL footy meaning that he could come into a side relatively quickly. Similar to Marcus Adams.
6. Jack Scrimshaw (193cm, 80kg) (Tall Utility) (1st round) - Could see someone going early on Scrimshaw. He is a very talented player who is strong over the ball and uses it well. Kicking can be a bit off at times though.
7. Patrick Kerr (194cm, 93kg) (Tall Forward) (1st round/Second Round) - Kerr would go well with Boyd in my opinion. He is strong on the lead and is a strong pack and 1v1 mark, Kerr also has good foot skills. See him developing as a CHF.
8. Joshua Battle (192cm, 90kg) (3rd forward) (1st Round/2nd Round) - Not likely a true KPF at AFL level, he'll do more of what Crameri does. Battle is one I'd like to see use his endurance more to get up the ground and wear down his opponent. Needs a fair bit of time to develop his game.
9. Jarrod Berry (191cm, 80kg) (Utility) (1st Round/Second Round) - Great character and is a versatile player. Will come into real contention at our first.
10. Alex Villis (182cm, 70kg) (defender/Midfielder) (1st round/2nd Round) - Very good outside player who can kick on both sides and has a good turn of pace. If he lasts to our second pick then he won't be on the board for much longer.
11. Jordan Gallucci (183cm, 75kg) (Midfielder/Forward) (1st round/second round) - Quick and classy, Gallucci is another who will be in the range where he will most likely fall between our picks.
12. Zac Fisher (175cm, 61kg) (Midfielder/Half Forward) (2nd Round) - A master of nearly every area, like Daniel really. His size could make him fall down the board however whoever picks him is going to get a ready made class midfielder. Already played Senior WAFL footy.
13. Sam Walker (187cm, 80kg) (Half Back) (2nd Round) - All hail the SA Left footer halfbacks :p, He is capable of locking down on players but also has really good composure and can kick the ball a long way and likes to.
14. Alex Witherden (184cm, 79kg) (Half Back) (2nd Round) - like Simpkin he broke his leg and is not going to play this year. However if he falls down the order a bit he will be an absolute steal for whoever picks him. Elite Footskills.
15. Jordan Ridley (192cm, 79kg) (Utility) (2nd Round) - Elite kick and strong overhead, Ridley has the ability to play both ends of the ground and given his size could become an interesting prospect if a club can develop his game off a wing or in the midfield
16. Jack Henry (191cm, 83kg) (Utility) (2nd round) - a very long kick of the footy and has a good leap. Second sport is the Decathlon...
17. Taylin Duman (193cm, 75kg) (defender/Outside mid) (2nd Round/3rd Round) - Versatile, Tall, loves to run with the footy and kick the ball. Duman is one that I could see us being very interested in.
18. Tyson Stengle (171cm, 69kg) (Small Forward) (2nd Round/3rd Round) - Xfactor, composure and skills. The sort of player that you want to have with ball in hand in the front half, makes things happen.
19. Ben Long (183cm, 71kg) (Small Forward) (2nd Round/3rd Round) - Xfactor, strong tackler and a quick thinker. Our VFL watchers have seen plenty of him the last month or so.
20. Brock McGregor (200cm, 97kg) (Ruck/Forward) (Late/Rookie) - Big and imposing around the ground, taking plenty of marks. Can go forward and kick goals too.
21. Lloyd Meek (201cm, 102kg) (Ruck/Forward) (late/rookie) - A big body who was unlucky in getting injured during the champs, moves well and is capable up forward where he can hit the scoreboard.
22. Benjamin Ronke (181cm, 75kg) (Midfielder/Forward) (3rd Round-Rookie) - Very quick and powerful. Has played very well for the cannons this year and kicked 3 goals in two games he played at Coburg as well as averaging 16 touches and 4 tackles a game. Could bolt as I see some similarities with Dangerfield here.
23. Kayle Kirby (181cm, 86kg) (Forward) (3rd round/late) - kicked 9 goals in two VFL games after kicking 32 goals in 13 matches in the TAC Cup, has genuine speed. Needs to slim down a bit.
24. Sam McLarty (193cm, 93kg) (Swingman) (2nd round/late) - Very strong overhead and attacks the ball well. Whether he is developed as a forward or a defender is up to the club he lands at as he is capable at both ends of the ground.
25. Patrick Lipinski (188cm, 79kg) (Midfield/Forward) (2nd Round/Late) - Strong overhead, Dangerous up forward and in tight spaces. Lipinski is a raw ex-basketballer with undeniable talent both as a marking forward and as a midfielder.

Ben Ronke hasn’t followed a traditional path towards finding himself in NAB AFL Draft contention. But since the speedster finally secured a spot on the Calder Cannons list as an over-age player this year, his prospects have taken off.

Ronke, who turns 19 in December, had previously been part of Cannons development programs but never made the club’s primary list. Not to be deterred, he continued playing in the VAFA at St Bernard’s where he was part of an U19 premiership in 2014 and the Snowdogs’ 2015 Premier Division flag triumph.

In 2016 though, 181cm Ronke has shone with his pace through Calder’s midfield, played two games for Coburg’s senior team in the VFL and scored an invite to October’s Victorian State Combine.

He said much had changed personally since the Cannons first saw him several years ago.

“I guess back then I wasn’t playing as confidently as I have been lately and I just didn’t really have the dedication towards footy that I’ve had in the last three years,” Ronke said.

“That feeling when I was expecting to get an invite to do a pre-season at Calder and not getting it – I suppose there’s a few ways you can take it and I just tried to take it as a learning curve. It motivated me to prove people wrong and so I did as much work as I could off the field – diet-wise and fitness-wise – to get myself to where I wanted to be.

“I was planning on doing a pre-season with Footscray’s VFL team (late last year) and then (Cannons Talent Manager) Ian Kyte got in contact and told me to come down for a pre-season there. He said they’d watched a little bit of my footy and saw I was playing alright at the senior level.”

Last year, Ronke established himself in a St Bernard’s senior team coached by former AFL 200-gamer Anthony Rock as a 17-year-old mid-forward. He described the thrilling eight-point premiership victory over Old Trinity as “the greatest thing” he’s experienced, appreciating how lucky he was to be involved alongside a senior core that had put in years of work to achieve glory.

The physicality at senior level prepared Ronke well for a midfield role at Calder, where he’s averaging 20 disposals, four tackles and over a goal per game across 14 matches in 2016.

But the generally quicker nature of TAC Cup football has better suited the strengths of someone who recorded the fastest 20m sprint time at the TAC Cup fitness testing day earlier this year.

“The physical side of playing seniors last year has helped me, but I’ve noticed the speed in the TAC Cup has definitely lifted,” Ronke said. “Naturally I’ve had a bit of speed as I’ve grown up, so I’ve been able to adjust to that pace quicker than I thought I would.

“That speed, my physicality around the contest and my desire to win are my biggest strengths I guess. I probably just need to improve on my composure at times; I’ve done a bit of work on my kicking at the end of runs.”

Those tearing runs have been a fairly common sight in Ronke’s appearances for the Cannons and Coburg. But he also averaged 16 disposals and four tackles while kicking three goals in his two games with the Lions to show he hadn’t lost the physicality required to perform at senior level.

Indeed, that combination of explosive speed and strength is a rare one, and Ronke will be hard to stop now he’s finally found the fast lane of football development.

I can see why you're into him, he sounds good. Is the invite to play with Footscray any indication he's on our radar?

Also Ronke v Long, who do you take?

Tough one. I'd say at this stage Long but it wouldn't be too bad if we had another pick around the 40's to get both.

Ronke will most likely be a onballer who can drift forward rather than the other way round.

We'll have to wait and see ;)

Just thinking, could definitely see us going for Scrimshaw if he's there. Tall rangy backman, uses it well, good intercept mark. Would fit in very well. Not a direct defender yet but surely that could be taught. Was one of my early favourite because I heard he had scope for a forward game as well, haven't really seen it this year though.

Scrimshaw looked good up forward and on the wing today. Picked up a stack of the ball, although he wasn't that effective by foot. I'd rather others personally.

Can see the appeal of Taranto. Wasn't doing much up forward up to half time, moved into the middle which got Sandringham going and kicked a nice goal in the 3rd. Stepped up in important moments.

Gallucci was pretty good.

Great game and a great win by Sandy. Was impressed with the quality of the match.

Ridley, with 28 touches and 12 marks on Saturday looks a type if he can slip to the second round. Hopefully, we trade to have a stack of late first-second round picks - draft will run deep this year, second rounders will be super valuable. If we keep our first I reckon Dal will go best available, apart from any pure mids. At this stage I'm liking Taranto, Venables, Fisher, Simpkin for picks around ours.

I'm still planning on doing a write up for 5 players, one player at a time of players I'd love to have on the list (this doesn't mean that I'd be unhappy with someone else by the way)

The players are; Jonty Scharenberg, Jarrod Berry, Zachary Sproule, Daniel Venables & Tim Taranto.

I believe I'll start with Jonty Scharenberg, because I don't think he is a player that has got too many mentions in this thread & somehow I think he'll be the least favoured of my picks.

I'll be doing a write up for him over the next few days because I want to rewatch some footage as I write notes.

Who are the top 3-5 in this years draft? What are those players like compared to guys around the 15-30 mark?

Are the top 3-5 clear standouts? Or would most big boards be different?

My personal opinion and take this with a big grain of salt, I don't think there is much separating the top bunch from where we'll pick

Not like it has been in previous years anyway

Seems weird that Berry has gone from talk of top three to the end of first round. Reckon we need another rangy half back?

I've been a fan all year, I try to avoid reading too many of the phantom drafts now because I tend to get caught up in the group think.

I think Berry is quality & would really compliment the offensive half backs that we have already, he is also over 190cm+ & at that height I believe he'd be able to play a decent range of positions in defense.

I'm not comparing him to Matthew Boyd but I think Berry could play that role & really make it his own.
