Jeremy Goodard 205cm athletic WA ruckmen top 10 chance

Anyone know much about Sam Mcclarty or Luke strnadica?

Isn't it great!

The points system resulted in Carlton receiving plowman, Phillips, lamb, sumner and pick 8 for a second rounder and geelongs first rounder for 2016!

Imagine what it might score your team next year!!!!!!!!

You seem very knowledgeable in regards to GWS trading and drafting

Seems that Blues and Giants have had good trading relations over past 2 seasons with Blues receiving GWS players and pick 8 while Giants receiving pick 7, future first and range of picks this year to use for your academy players

Do you think Himmelberg, Flynn Hopper and Kennedy will get much game time in 2016? Still very interested to see Ahern and Pickett play

TBH I can only see limited game time for hopper and Kennedy. Maybe 1-2 games each unless they explode onto the scene. Ahern, Steele and Barrett will all get games this year but only see Steele having regular games.

Pickett is all depending on how much he has improved. Doesn't have the tank at this stage

What are your thoughts on Sumner and Phillips? I haven't seen much of either and with Andrew with how the game is played today clubs rarely take too many talls. Perhaps if Kreuzer plays more forward then would allow him to play more ruck

I think Plowman won't play til mid-season. Hope Blues don't rush him as really no need as we won't be playing finals. I think Lamb will play R1 as has experience.

Sumner has his pace as a weapon but his body has continually let him down. Any games played will be a bonus but I wrote him off a while ago.

Phillips is very good. Athletic and good tap and was injurred at the wrong time and was subsequently overtaken by Lobb and Downie.

This is the list I've compiled and expect it to grow massively from now until the 2016 AFL Draft:

185. Reece Piper
Keep an eye out for this kid! Will be the youngest player in the TAC Under 18 Comp but has loads of skill and pace. I'll call it early that he will be the best dual sided player int he draft.

Great kick on both sides of his body, strong mark, quick, agile, knows where the goals are. Played 1 TAC Under 18 Game last year but it was unfortunately short lived as he was spoiling a marking contest and crashed into the fence hurting his back, was a horrible thing to see. Put him out for the rest of the year though.

Holds state records for various sprint distances and long jump when he was a bit younger, won 2 Lindsay Patching awards in Junior football which is the player who polled the most votes in the entire league.

Great kid and very easy to coach!

Looks good in small clips ive seen.Really skinny though.Hows he go in traffic or is he just an outside type? Quick?

Yeah he is pretty slight. But moves very well, the Whitfield comparisons are apt.

Good on the open but not naturally a congested type. He's the player you want to hit on the spread

The following is just a list of the top 2016 draft prospects at this stage(Basically a list of the names thrown around in here). This list will of course change and chances are one or more of the following names won't even end up getting drafted:

Sam Petrevski-Seton
Ben Ainsworth
Jonty Scharenberg
Jarrod Berry
Brandon Parfitt
Jy Simpkin
Sam Pepper-Powell
Jeremy Goddard
Hugh Macreadie
Jacob Allison
Jack Bowes
Brad Scheer
Hugh McCluggage
Jordan Gallluci
Ezekiel Frank

It is shaping up to be a midfielders draft with some great, young midfield prospects. Players like Petrevski-Seton and Jordan Galluci are silky and polished whilst players like Brandon Parfitt, Jonty Scharenberg and Sam Pepper-Powell are inside beats.

Nice list.

I'd be adding Will Brodie & Dylan Clark to that list.

And coming back to the thread topic ...

Not all 'top' draft prospects, but very interested to see how the GWS Academy kids go in 2016 and subsequently where they land in the draft. I recognise that this topic polarises opinion on Bigfooty, but taking a broad view of improving the AFL and talent base holistically, parochial interest in academy talent serves a greater purpose.

Zachary Sproule is a tall forward, in the mould of Nick Riewoldt, who leads up to the ball well.

Kobe Mutch is a smooth moving outside midfielder with silky skills on both sides of his body who plays like GWS wingman Lachie Whitfield.

Key defender Harrison Macreadie has been compared to Geelong’s Andrew Mackie, and currently is considered a possible top-20 or even top-10 draft prospect.

Will Setterfield is a tall midfielder who has the ability to play as both an inside and outside player and combines good endurances with the ability to win the contested football too.

Connor Owen-Auburn is another, though lesser, name on the academy list, playing for Pennant Hills, NSW/ACT RAMS and 7 GWS NEAFL games in 2015.
Thoughts on Canberra boys Tom Highmore and Sam Fisher?

The Marist boys? I'll say up front that I'm not a live watcher of the junior AFL (except my own son's games of course! :D ), so my comments just reflect what I draw from the media & AFL websites. Both kids certainly have talent, but I get the feeling that - at this point - they're just a level down on Macreadie, Setterfield, Mutch, Sproule, & Connor Byrne. Both had good Under 16 championships with NSW/ACT in 2014, but neither played in the U18 Champs in 2015 as underagers, although they were in the initial training squad. Both played NEAFL with Canberra clubs in 2016, presumably will again in 2016 & presumably also the U18 Champs. I suspect they'll both need to show development to get a look in at draft time.

The following description comes from the 2014 U16 wrap-up report (one of only two players singled out, the other Harrison Macreadie):
Tom Highmore - Makes good decisions and is able to stay calm when under pressure. Very skilled and strong overhead. Rebounds hard when defending and organises others around him very well.

Best of luck to them both.

It would be great to see this kid picked up by the Giants as a genuine Western Sydney product, having played his junior football at St.Clair and then Penrith U/18's.
