So the rumours talked about on the WCE board were Gallucci to West Coast at 12, and Sam Powell-Pepper being looked at as high as Gold Coast's pick ten.

Take it with a pinch of salt although the Gallucci one does seem like something we'd do.

Gallucci has been invited to the draft so obviously someone has indicated an interest fairly high up.

Some people just can't take a hint. I'll spell it out, noone on this thread gives a shit about how well SOS did at GWS. I'm Sure there is a lovely thread out there for chatting about it, why dont you go find it.

settle down phooey, monkey was responding to the comments of others who initiated.

I reckon Gold Coast could take him if the bid for Bowes doesn't come inside the top ten. Then they could end up with Taranto/Scrimshaw/Hayward/Battle with their first four picks.
We will use 10 on Bowes

what need is that? a forward that may be good in 5 years?
I'm not suggesting it will happen nor that I would be a fan just speculating as to why he has (supposedly) been invited to the event.

it would be an absolute stretch for bowes to not receive a bid before within the top ten. the majority of phantom drafts predict the lions bidding on him at 3 and GC matching.

I think there was a gentlemen agreement during the Hanley trade. Brisbane bidding on him only helps the southern state teams out.

Well that would be illegal under afl rules. so you do have some evidence to support your claim - any reporters thinking that gc paid overs for hanley?

Brisbane not bidding on him reduces their own competitiveness in the Brisbane market. would you give the local competitor who you are competing for sponsors and supporters such a free kick.

Pretty sure Brisbane don't bid on him at 3, they want Ainsworth.
Would Carlton want Bowes over SPS? I don't think so.
Freo like home grown players, which leaves Sydney - Sydney probably need outside speed or an all round defender type with Key position potential, which is probably Florent or Logue maybe Scrimshaw, definitely not Bowes. I tend to think Bowes will attract a bid in the top 10 because he is top 10 material but it's not that much of a stretch to see him slide.
I don't think clubs bid on players just to f*ck up the academy clubs unless it suits them down the track, which for all these clubs it won't.

Yep, if it meant getting something in return. You scratch my back and Ill scratch yours. We have no evidence of it, but its very hard to police. Is it against AFL rules? Absolutely! but only if you get caught..

By “gentlemen’s agreement” you mean “draft tampering”?

Yeah clubs never do anything illegal.. they always play by the rules:rolleyes:

Plus competitive teams up in qld is actually healthier for afl in qld more so than two teams at the bottom of the ladder

Brisbane actually have plenty of forward small types so if GC dont match a bid they will gladly take bowes.

blues would clearly take bowes over SPS because he is a better player. i doubt that GC will let him leave so they will match.

clubs bid on players based on their ability and in bowes/setterfield /perryman all clubs bidding for them would like to get them. the fact it stops the impacted club getting an additional player is the added bonus.

so that's a no evidence available then. this practice was actually mentioned last year so the afl /clubs will be looking out for it. you do realise the afl review all trades before endorsing them. this was initiated after hawks/doggies veale deal.

that is true however its not the brisbane lions who have that responsibility. Can you seriously imagine Leigh Matthews allowing the Lions to give the Suns a free kick? He actually, from memory, wants you blokes disbanded because he believes the qld market cant support two afl teams.

They have Ainsworth someone who had come out and said he wants to go there. He can play in the midfield as well and will probably do so as his career goes on

that is all true. However are u saying suns wont match the bid? if yes that's rubbish. Suns will match because it really doesn't cost them anything points wise.

Yep they will but the gentlemens agreement in writing so the afl can review it.

When it comes to acedemy kids I think they think it's in their best interest to play nice. As it comes back to bite them in future years.

Yes.
We bid on Dunkley last year because we genuinely wanted him, fortunately Sydney didn't match our bid (FS, but similar principle).

We would match a bid even if it comes at 1. In saying this is between the 2 qld clubs. Not the rest of the AFL

exactly and the reason you would match pick 1 is the same reason lions are likely to bid three or blues pick 5 etc etc - the kid is that good.

No sh#t Sherlock, but as stated I don't think Carlton think SPS is worse than Bowes.. I think Brisbane are all over Ainsworth. . Etc etc.. but you know there just opinions except if you try to pass them off as fact which they are clearly not..
