Unfortunately my source at Werribee left a couple of months ago. At that point in time he said that North had small interest in the rookie draft but nothing else from what he could tell.

That may have changed though.

What about Hannan or Long from Footscray VFL?

I think you'll find it was because you guys thought you had it won already before game even started.

Words of wisdom courtesy of the app

No its because you guys had a lot of pent up frustration and needed to vent. It was indignant, classless, and unecessary but our players and people have it locked away.

So which early draft pick from this year will hawks be getting at the end of 2018 during the trade period?

Whoever becomes some teams 4th best mid or does their knee twice.

Actually Twomey has been doing pretty much that all year. Actually the phantom drafts Twomey did were earlier and more extensive than the pieces you listed - more than merely names.
You'll have to link to some, coz pretty sure all that he's released is monthly power ranking, the podcast and whatever general news articles he's written.

Of course it's night and day, and I explained why. $$$

You've got a population of near 400 million with one major football code. Here, we've got 3 major football codes and 25 million.

Pretty simple to understand that there just isnt the money in sports media here to follow school footy closely.

As for the phantom drafts. There's no difference between what Twomey and Anderson do compared to their USA counterparts.

Both here and the USA, draft pundits just do big boards until the draft order is set. After that, you'll start seeing early mock drafts, but even then, the more reputable and serious sites don't do mocks until very late because they wait to get as much accurate info as possible.

And then you've got this year, where it's a very even draft, and clubs are playing things close.

Again, if you had genuinely followed this year from the beginning, and actually had an understanding of the Australian sports and media landscape, you wouldn't have made such an ill informed comment.
Mate, you can yap no true scotsman fallacies to your hearts content, doesn't help your argument except make you sound like an elitist arseh*le. Don't make assumptions about others when you're presenting a clear case for your own lack of knowledge if you think what we have now is anything else but limited and can't be improved.

Your argument about the football codes is disingenuous, I was referring to all their major sporting codes (I gave the NHL, hockey, as a linked example) which do their draft days better than us, and have better coverage from their media. This isn't a football code war, that's a straw analogy.

Chad Ford released his first mock draft in August, for a draft next June (NBA is basketball, not a football code). There's no comparison in Australia. We have good people, I'm not dismissing what they now, just the scope of what they produce and what is given to the public. We don't need "same" we don't need to reach the same level (impossible). However seeing what they do right and trying to implement here, isn't stupid, it's the main way growth happens. Naivety in thinking otherwise.

Pelchen's STAR Network wouldn't be coming into existence if everything was perfect. If recruiters see room for improvement, then why shouldn't the media and the coverage? There's plenty of evidence on this board of what demand there is for draft coverage. Twomey suffers from no lack of resources, he's works for the AFL ffs, they let him tag around everywhere, be it USA or NZ etc etc.

As it is we're lucky for what the guys on BF D&T board do, they provide more information throughout the year than we get from the experts. It would just be nice if the experts could give us more details, and more mock drafts further out, so we can see their knowledge of the draft, not just their knowledge of inside contacts.

Pretty serious allegations that the afl would have investigated if there was even a hint of truth too. They investigated a similiar circumstance a few years back for a south australian kid for less, but forget who
It's a ridiculous allegation. Kids tank to stay in their state, not to go interstate to a club that everyone hates.

Mate he or anybody else is not obliged to do anything. If he wanted to turn up naked that would be his prerogative.

It is a fact a number of recruiters thought his behaviour was weird.
He is a weird person. Consistently described at Collingwood as 'a different cat'. He didn't tank, he was just himself.

How many rimes will we hear this over the next couple of days?

The [...] football club is very excited to welcome [...] to the club. We rated [...] really highly and thought he would be taken much earlier so when the opportunity came to pick [...] we had no hesitation to call out his name. We have been tracking [...] since he was 15 years old and believe he will complement our [midfield/forward/back line/rucks] for many years to come.

The [...] football club is very happy with our selections this year and things went better than planned."
