Rate Hayward over Logue?

Personally yes. I worry about these so called utilities. At least at worst Hayward is a Gunsyon style forward (not saying he will be as good as Jack but a similar style). That is a good worst case for me personally.

I don't remember that he did?

Looking back at some phantoms, Quigley didn't think that Fyfe was a massive ball winner back then.

He wasn't but he played a purely deep forward role almost out of the goal square stuff. Then mid/late that year he became a roaming CHF for claremont colts.

With an AFL program in 2010 he pushed hia beep test and running capacity to high 15's and started adding mass which was no surprise to fremantle in regards to adding bulk easily. He played 4 weeks in the WAFL for claremont and avg about 15 posses and 3.5 goals a game which quickly warranted a call up.

The rest is well ....

Rumour is that bonner was seen as a massive flight risk and that is why he slid. The other two had questions over their skills and speed. I don't see those problems with spp cox and Bolton.
Was a lot of rubbish! The kid expressed quite clearly he was very happy to go interstate. He slid due to his foot injury, that's the only reason.

Hayward has all the tools but he doesn't find much of the footy, even for a medium forward. He'll probably end up being a Gunston type at AFL level at best.

You say that like it's a bad thing. at the end of the day if you spent a top 10 pick and got the kind of output gunston has shown by the age of 24 you'd be very happy with your decision

Exactly, if Silvagni wants Hayward we'll pay the premium and I'll back Silvani every time with the amount of resources at his disposable and football linage. Im sure he can pick a future very good player at that top end.

Really? So all those recruiters were somehow picking after Adelaide?

Dangerfield was a star in his bottom age year in juniors. Anybody worth their salt in recruiting rated Dangerfield through the roof from aged 15 onwards.

He declared he wasn't playing in the year after being drafted likely put a few off. Dumb recruiters picked up Spuds like Jared Grant. Next thing u know he gets to 10.

Knew a few recruiters very well that year, watched every game at the carnival. U didn't rate Dangerfield u werent paying attention.

I really like Hayward, but Sicily is 189cm and has a great leap. Hayward is closer to Breust's size than Sicily and definitely a long way from Gunston's. Going to be hard for him to win overhead at AFL level when a lot of his opponents will be taller than him. I'd draft him high on the hope he can do more at half forward and in the midfield as well as for his goal kicking.

Silvagni is an overrated hack. He made a series if diobolical mess ups with us. The only saving grace was that his pride led him to redraft a lot of his mistakes.

Great players don't necessarily make great recruiters.

Word has it that Hayward is seen as a future line breaking, goalkicking midfielder at AFL level. Pace is outstanding.

He still has the ability to grow another few cms he could still be growing. Hes 17

Also believed at the combine the measurements came in about 2cm under what the players were previousily measured at eg mcgrath 177 whereas 179/180 before

I really rate Hayward, but I'm unsure he becomes a consistent midfield line-breaker.

What I like about him is his first few steps that get him out of a contest. He actually reminds me of Daniel Wells over the past 2-4 years, in that he rarely holds on to the ball for too long, but can easily turn a contested ball into an uncontested possession (if that makes sense).

The big question is whether he will be able to find the ball often enough to be a genuine mid. Having said that, his forward line skills give him the luxury of not needing to be a full-time mid.

I'm only passing on some solid info on how he is seen by some. It explains his rise up the order if so.

Maybe he is seen like a Robbie Gray, who also showed flashes of dominance at TAC level. Or as you say, a Daniel Wells type.

Of course he is not totally like those players. He is his own player, like everyone.

But the point is, he is apparently seen as more than just a forward.

I honestly thought I was alone in this train of thought. Think he's a crap list manager.

You can't have 40 players developing in the seniors at the same time you ****wit. Obviously some are going to slip through the cracks and not develop.

He built a well balanced list and had the luxury of reaching for a few high risk players. The fact you still have the best list in the competition by an absolute mile should be enough to suggest he successfully did his job.
