Mark Duffield has just said on 720 that in his conversations with Rosich, the club is treating this draft as akin to 2008. A clean out of 10-14 players is on the way
Good. Except for Barlow please. I would be so so upset if we traded him. I know he could net us a second round pick but he still is important to our side in the midfield and as a leader.

Wonder what your thoughts are on English? He just looks so agile for a big man, yet still solid. Like a ruck version of Alex Pearce.

English is an interesting one and I don't know how I feel. His strengths are obvious, with his movement and ball skills for a big guy being top notch. But I don't know about his role at the top level. At the moment I wouldn't feel confident using a first on the back of his ruck work. That needs to improve, which admittedly it should with more training.

I'd have rathered WA let Goddard handle all the ruck work and let English prove himself as a KPP. So maybe that can happen in the WAFL to finish the year. Because better pure ruckman than English have been overlooked.

David Hale, the Hawthorn version, is what I'm seeing.

Yep, its quite easy to come up with the 10 - 12. Pav will retire and possibly Jonno. They may give up on Hurley and Grey is looking shaky too.

It actually reflects poorly on our list managers that it's got to this level again but I guess the wins last year clouded their judgement.

Nah I'd keep Grey. He has something. If DeBoer can stay on the list for 8 years Grey can stay too

Better off rolling the dice and see what happens after the first round. Plenty of rucks
around with three at least from WA, and we may have our best bet with Apeness already
on the list.
What we already know is that Clarke, Hannath, are not up to leading a ruck division, or playing
forward.

Draft 7 or 8, trade 2 or 3 in. That'd be the plan anyway.
Trade 2 or 3 in? How will we do that. It's not fantasy or the NBA. AFL players have rights and if they don't want to come there is nothing we can do about it.

Which 10-14 would we even cut?

Mzungu
Deboer
Pav retired
Clancee in the white shorts
Deluca likely
Maybe Hurley but by all reports he showed a bit pre injury I thought.
Ibbo unlikely you would think, would be unlucky given his previous season.

Surely not Barlow, his best is still elite.

One of the 3 ruckmen (aside from Sandi)?

Edit: I probably should have posted this in list management.

From a drafting perspective if we get McCarthy I think we will go a mid with our first rounder.

As I said, That'd be the plan. Rosich has said that they're in talks with a number of players managers with the view of trading a few in. Might only end up being 1 or 2 but 2 or 3 would be the plan.

Let's get the hysteria started. Must be hogan, McCarthy and jaeger for deboer Clancee and Mz.

Actually jaeger could happen I we put our first rounder on the table.

O'meara for our first would be a bad trade though. He's barely been on the park, too risky unless gc have something else to offer

I'm wrong a lot. I didn't think Ben Brown would have any sort of an impact at AFL level, yet he's kicking a few goals at North.

But, in his draft year I had Apeness in the fourth round with the view that he's better as a part time ruck rather than key position player. And I must admit, I still think that and would go into the draft with him listed as a ruck just as much a forward.

He's on the rookie list
So taking up a rookie spot and salary cool, its not his fault he's injury prone but the club has stuck by him its time to make tough calls on the playing list and that includes mori

You can if you like but I think our targets would more than likely be McCarthy then some second or third tier players that they feel would improve in our system, say Black, Matera, Litherland even Howlett maybe??? I'm sure there are plenty of others they're talking to

Rookie salary falls outside the cap iirc, chances of us replacing his spot with a rookie even half as good is much lower than the odds he comes good

I thought it was still included dont quote would mave to look it up

Well the powerful strong mids we have must not be doing their job. You ain't going to get the ball to another Walters mark 2 if you can't get the ball into our forward half. A player 180-185cm is something we should be after. Fyfe should be the only one in the middle that size.
That could potentially have something to do with the piece of crap ruckman we have playing. Injuries aswell, chuck fyfe and benell in our midfield with sandilands in the ruck and we would look alot better going forward.
