That is not good.

Also I can't help but feel that Buddy almost does not deserve to win another flag. If he genuinely wanted another flag he would not have insisted on $1.1 million every year for 9 years. He must have known that contract was going to gut our depth.

IF we hadn't recruited Buddy we keep Mumford.
That puts Tippett at Ff and Reid at CHF (ie a forward structure)

Recruiting Bud changed more than just our depth.

Even if he starts playing well at the end of 2018 when Tippett is out of contract we will need him to take a pay cut. There is no way we can continue to afford both his and Buddy's salary and we can't do squat about Buddy's.

if we hadnt recruited buddy we would have lost a lot more games

Maybe, maybe not.
Clearly we didn't expect Buddy when the Tippett deal was done. Impact of both contracts on depth is evident.

Might not have made 2014 and 2016 GFs but we're not holding any extra cups for Buds arrival either.

Decision was made, now to negotiate 2017

Indeed

Can't blame the big fella for accepting the offer.

Should be referring to Horse, Ireland and the footy department for putting up those numbers in the first place.

Investing 2.5m per year in three big slow blokes with dud knees (Franklin, Tippett, Sinclair) was one of the mistakes.

Letting Membrey and Biggs go instead of a 34-year-old Goodes was another.

Refusing to adjust the game-plan for six years is another; excessive numbers in the middle worked for a long time but we aren't spreading from the stoppages properly. If there's no spread from the middle and no defending from our forward half it's way too easy at the moment for good rebounding sides to cut us up.
