Just rocked up to work and been bombarded by a few of my Hawthorn-loving colleagues.

Walk in...

Me: 'Hey hows it going'
Them: 'HE'S LEAVING FOR THE GOOD OF THE CLUB'
Stolen from another thread, but this might be worth printing and putting on a noticeboard.

Club will not be trading Tippett, our offer to Mitchell was longterm and considered "fair and reasonable" by the club, Harley speaking of Reid slotting into CHF and Alex Johnson recovering really well.
On another board I posted it was offered at the start of the season (first half).

Harley also said we are going to the draft. I take from his comments there is 0% chance of trading in a player

Don't know if keen, but won't rule it out is how I took it
I'm going on the way Harley reiterated 4-5 times that "other clubs now know we've got 14 & 17". Seems an odd comment to keep making if we were just going to take them to the draft. Obviously no guarantee that there's a suitor, but I suspect they'll be asking the question.

I took that as 14 from Hawks was off the table and "other clubs" could not get it. I think especially with how Harley talked, as soon as trade we started we had eyes for 14 and got the deal done straight away to keep it from other clubs the Hawks were dealing with (GC) and improve the draft position.

I guess you can interpret what he said in a few ways though.

Yeah that's true. I doubt we'd go throwing away 14 + 17 unless there was someone we specifically wanted to target earlier in the draft.

Hypothetically the teams we could trade with would probably be Gold Coast or North Melbourne.
e.g. 14 + 17 (2186pts) for
GCS: 8 + 30 (2180)
GCS: 8 + 44 (1913)
NM: 11 + 32 (1913)

If there was a top 10 talent we really wanted and would get at 8 I would do 8 & 30 for the 2*Teens picks.

But personally would prefer the 2 first rounders as the top 20 is strong this year.

Wtf , extending reids contract
It was just in a general discussion about Reid becoming a free agent. That the club wanted him to stay and would be looking to extend him.

What I found somewhat odd, is that Harley said they have been in discussion with Heeney and his manager for some time.

Ive heard Heeney's management say twice on trade radio that Sydney havent discussed anything with them.

Only problem with the 8 & 30 option is that there's no real motivation for GCS to do the deal, unless they just want to build good will with another academy club.

My gut instinct is that we'll take 14 & 17 to the draft and that's a pretty good option.

Yeah I can't see Gold coast or GWS bothering to trade picks with us. They already have more than enough picks and points to get their academy players.

One of 14/17 would get them Hanley. Don't they have an academy pick that will get bid on before 8?

My gut is we will take them into the draft as well.
