It would be tight for sure, but after this season I'm more confident that we can find improvement from within the squad. Better hope we draft well for the next couple of years though.
Titch is a big loss but we just need improvement from our young players like Robinson/Heeney/Lloyed/Jones/Mills/Hewett etc... and we can easily cover the loss no matter how good he is.

With our elite players and top end pay packets we were always at some point going to loose somebody.

I just want to see the young core players getting new contracts before getting anyone else in or thinking about it.

If we nail this draft, we have a good platform for sustained success. Hence the reason I want us to take 2 first rounders to the draft rather then trade up.

Oh christ the Hawks ship has leaky holes that need to be plugged. Lewis was looking at a trade to the Demons. I thought all Hawthorn players sat around a fire with 'love, peace and harmony' t-shirts taking LSD and promising to buy into the Hawks premiership culture??

Maybe getting paid noting for so long is starting to wear a tad thin?

Reckon the doggies KPD's did a great job. Nobody no names collared Tippo and kept the Bud to a goal. They had great assistance from umps and our bombs and our lack of structure...but their defenders did the job. Really hard to believe.....I still shake my head.
Not overly sure it counts. Buddy was playing with two separate injuries, and Tippett would have been beaten by Zac Dawson based on his finals form. My point was that they didn't rely on key defenders, and didn't have an outstanding key defender for basically the whole year. As for their forward line, take out Boyd and they're practically a bunch of smaller half forward types. Key players can surprisingly be not-key (if that's a word) in big games.

No idea how we go one step better next year if we dont address the outside issue and ball quilty ball uses
Dogs and giants are only getting better
We just need to have more umpires train with us over summer. Have a couple move in with Buddy. Hanners dine with them at icebergs and holiday with Tippett and we are set

Can't just rely on umps though. As we saw with Hodge in that QF against Geelong, you can have a lovers tiff and then boom, out in straight sets.

I would say Mumford has been a bigger loss than Mitchell would anyone agree?
Mitchell will be the bigger loss. Mumford got beaten by a forward playing as a ruck in the prelim. Mitchell had 26 touches and two goals in a losing grand final side. Both going in different directions and we know who will have the most upside.

Yeah nah.
Mids grow on trees. Mitchell would struggle to be in the top 40 mids in the comp. Mummy is a top five ruck

More I think about the more we need move on Tippett. Need to rejig the cap and the structure.

Naismith/Nanny/Sinkers in that order can do the ruck forward thing. Reid can come back in as well.

Get something while we can and free the dollars if he is at all open to a move.

Taking unders in this case would help us

Eh. Good ruck man but unless you're a dominant beast like Sandilands or just an all round brilliant player like a Cox, rucks are replaceable. Even more so than mids.

I think we can agree both are very replaceable though. It took a while but we've more than covered Mumford, jury's obviously still out with covering Mitchell

Shit the funnest part of this trade period has ironically been Hawthorn. Add Hartung to the casualty list. They're building quite a nice tortoise midfield for 2017.

First Hill, then they bring in Tom Mitchell, and now get rid of Hartung. Is Michael Tuck out of contract?

Hartung is not that good tbh. Would be like us trading Towers. Can't say a loss.

So now in the past hour Twitter is throwing out hints about O'Meara to Sydney (Robbo) and Tippet to Suns (Adam 'Warnie' Child).

Not sure what I think about it, but it would be great for lols when the Hawks go into melt...
