Here I was thinking you guys were talking about Hugh Goddard from the Saints. He's good friends with Weller though. Perhaps we can entice him to come and play with his mate.

Interesting how earlier in the season, Rosco & Rosich have been making noises about Freo becoming a destination club & players expressing interest about becoming a Docker.
So far, I would say that two such players have emerged in Conca & Brad Hill.

Do you reckon it is anything to do with next year us having the best facilities in the league?

Collingwood currently have pick 25 in provisional draft order. So maybe:
Pick 25 to Hawks;
Ed Langdon to Pies;
Brad Hill to Freo.
2 sets of brothers reunited & Hawks clear salary space for Crouch / OMeara.

Possibly the likely scenario. Maybe Collingwood with another pick upgrade somewhere, but is essentially how I thought the deal involving Langdon would go down.
Well done.

I'm keen to get Hill and McCarthy in but not at the expense of pick 3. To me that's SPS, Brodie or McCluggage and I'm really hoping it's McLuggage.

Brad Hill is great but with Bennell back hopefully next year the wings are covered with Stephen Hill, Bennell, Pearce and possibly swing some of the new guys there with another preseason under their belts.

McCarthy is the one we need and whilst we could wait till next year when his contract ends that's stupid as he's much more valuable developing with us and getting more games under his belt.

The only way I'd be happy if we traded pick 3, would be if it was for something like pick 9+15 and a player chucked in. But even then, this is our chance to get a top player. The last time we had this chance was in 09. We should utilise it.

If Mayne gets us second round compensation this'll be a lot easier.

Hawthorn get the compensation pick, GWS get the 2017 2nd rounder. Then we just focus on upgrading a couple of junk picks into the second round by trading off a few of our players. Who knows we may even get a third round compensation pick for Clarke but I doubt it.

Obviously most people here are assuming Mayne gets us third round compensation which would make the whole process very difficult indeed.

We should hopefully find a way to get SPS (or another top 5 draftee), Brad Hill and McCarthy all this trade period with some change to use on some speculative prospects. I'd love to add Jack Martin to that list but unless we are trading something of considerable value I can't see that happening and if we did I doubt it'd be worth doing yet.

It will require us to trade out some players, including those we'd like to keep (eg Langdon). I still think splitting our first pick in to two would end up a dumb move. The one thing we desperately need is better kicks and not coincidentally those best kicks are almost always found right at the start of the draft. I'd love to have English and even trade for Hogan but if our kicking remains poor then those players probably won't provide as much impact to our scoring as we would expect. We have an opportunity to recruit two elite kicks and a good young inside 50 target in just one draft and I think we should take it.

I don't want Brad Hill primarily for his running, I want him because he lowers his eyes coming towards 50 and doesn't just kick in hope. SPS on the other hand I want because he is a balanced mid that is all class. Mundy is our best kick from the inside and he isn't going to be around forever - we need to rely on more than just SHill once Mundy goes. The two Hill brothers and SPS delivering inside 50: to good contested markers in Fyfe, Tabs, Apeness and Yarran; to Walters and McCarthy who seem good at finding space inside 50; and add in elite x-factor Bennell, Weller and Balic off half forward and we are going to have a far more dangerous forward line without needing to add even more talls. Sure it might take all of 2017 to come together properly but I think it's the ideal mix of players forward of centre for many years to come (ie sans Pav, Mayne and Ballas).

The more I think about this the more I can see Micky B on the way out.

Ironically the thing that may save his career here is his shoulder injury.

Bad shoulder, and 28 years old my have reduced any chance to get a 2nd round for him...If we can't get a second we may as well keep him, give him another 2 years.

SPS, McCarthy and Hill.

If Mayne nets us a second round, McCarthy and Hill could be paid for with our third next year and the comp pick.

I'd love Logue and Goodard after SPS if could get another second from somewhere

As much as I would love to bring in both McCarthy and Hill, I just hope we don't have to pay the world to get them. If we do get them we then really need to look at rucks and not just KPD but also running backs with good skills, Tucker and Balic may fit this mould though

If we get Hill and McCarthy and the latter is not a troubled young man as some suggest then I think we should go for English at pick 3.

Bit of a stretch I know but we really need to develop a good young ruck. Griffen, Clarke and Hannath aint gonna be Sandi's replacement.

Conca isn't really any better than Clancee, DeBoer, Mzungu, etc. I suppose he is a bit younger, but if we want him then it better not cost us much. Being a top 6 pick means nothing when it comes to his value, as it was just a really poor decision (and I remember he was a bit of a late bolter/surprise) from Richmond.
Conca is overrated. I rather get Tyrone Vickery. At least vickery fills a need as a ruckman and a 30-40 goal a season tall forward.

Richmond want vickery out fir some reason.

I think our Forward line actually looks quite promising and versatile for next year.
With: Ape, Tabs, Fyfe, McCarthy, Yarran, Bennell, Walters, Ballas, Weller. There are plenty of crumbers and markers/talls.
I think our structure needs work however and we need to improve on isolating individuals 1 on 1 more than we need to add personnell (still would be nice to add a real star KPF)
Still Think we need another ruck forward. Take off yarran and ballantyne and that is a very young list of goal kickers.

If you want English, you downgrade pick 3 to pick 8 and 25. I think SPS is too good to pass up
