I don't know why I'm arguing with someone deluded enough to imagine that they can see the blindly obvious invisible to troop of people paid to do it for a living, but no, I'm not kidding.
We didn't have anyone we could give up, that someone that would actually value in the real world rather than fantasy trade land, that wouldn't have weakened us flag tilt wise the following year.
Serious? You just do it. Barlow or Mayne or Johnson would of got pick upgrades after the years they had. FMD even the filth added Redden and Jetta after losing a GF because they are short on midfield talent. We should of done the same with KPP players and if you think not you are seriously deluded.

Basically, if you get to a GF and don't win then you have to do a "mini" rebuild to get you there again addressing your weeknessnes

Hannath is going to be delisted this year because of modern game required more mobile ruck, if Darcy still around at our later pick we should be considered him .
You must be watching a different Darcy C to the one I'm watching, he isn't any more mobile than Hannath. He's 21/22 if he was any good he'd been taken. I can't exactly remember his testing results but slow and poor beep test.

Radio wafl expert on sport FM said he improves a lot since compare to two years ago. I saw him play definitely better than Hannath as a forward.let collins and silvagni had a hard day also.

Errr Redden was exchanged for a first round pick and Jetta a swap for a player with currency. That would seem to support my argument not yours. If we had a player outside our best 22 worth Lewis Jetta, name them.
In any case you were talking about pick upgrades to acquire talls in the draft. Say swapping Barlow and pick 17 in 2013 for pick 9 or something. How would that have helped us win the flag in 2014? A first year key defender who might not make it is the difference maker?
Your plan only works if our recruiters can guarantee a player will be a instant star (impossible), but no other recruiting team can see this (impossible) except the teams with picks 11 to 14, so we must trade to in front of them (now it's just getting silly)
Given what we had and what we were trying to achieve we didn't really do anything that wrong with our trading and list management 2011 to 2014.
(2015 is a different story and I think we should have cut fringe players more aggressively and gambled on an injury free season, but everyone's an expert in hindsight)

Ok we do what you say and not try to improve the list year by year. How much have Barlow,Mayne and Johnson meant to our team over the last couple of years and they didn't have currency 2 years ago? Johnson was AA and Mayne not far off and a little better than Sinclairs currency don't you think?? You seem to think you can improve a list by being low picks in the draft and not taking a risk at all just improve the DeBoers and Subans you have. Your not related to Bondy are you.

Not IMO, i saw play a bit but I'll reserve my judgement.
Hoo I not going to said he is the solution , but definitely no harm rookie list him if nobody pick him up, peel team will be without young ruck men if we cut Clarke and Hannath .apenes will most probably playing for freo. DC is among the top scorer in WAFL this year also.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean what with all the typos but I understand enough to see you haven't even attempted to address the substance of my argument. I'll reiterate:
How would trading out players we couldn't replace in our 22 for pick upgrades help us win the flag in 2014/15?

I wonder if anyone's still looking at Greg Clark who was WA's captain last year. His name came up a few times in the 2015 thread, and it still stuns me he wasn't picked up. Pretty sure he's grown a bit since, super aerobic & has elite endurance.
I haven't really seen how he's been going this year but I know not getting drafted hit him hard. I just saw his name come up today so was intrigued to see if AFL was still possible for him.
Had a look at his stats for subi pretty average.
He's improved out of sight compared to last year. He's played almost every game in the seniors, across half back and occasionally on the wing

He's got great size about him but can be a bit lost on the inside stuff. Last year he played smaller than he was. This year he's starting to realise his size and play to it. If he continues his improvement he will be drafted IMO

Sinclair was passed on his draft year. Likewise ballas. Sometimes it takes that extra year or two in the state leagues

Oh all the typos?? Thanks Gramma nazi. How do you suggest to improve a list by being the last few picks in each round then? Cmon Eddie the expert please let us all know how you can improve a list without obvious risks
How would you turn our 2013 list into a premier and a team that continues to contest with just the late draft picks

A bit of a nothing player. Not quick or skillful for outside role and not strong enough for a contested role.

Sharks. Anyone playing West Coast.
Having never seen him play, or his highlight reel, I will bet he will not make it. Purely because that is the fate of 9 out of 10 state league players talked up every year.

Seriously though, can he 1st ruck? Nobody that tall is going to be playing forward permanently, getting jumped over and rebounded off by AFL quality KPDs..
Game on. I bet you four Hungry Jacks birthday crowns he does.

Go.

Apart from Darling which every club whiffed on there hasn't been much on offer when Freo drafted. If you look through the drafts any tall player worth a note was gone in top10-12. The draft McCarthy was in we took Apeness because that was best there. The only draft we had an opportunity was when we took Weller.

I don't get how people continually spit venom when the facts are there, would you go and take a guy ranked 40 or so in the draft with pick 15? Doggies seem to go alright without a decent tall, you only really need 1 at each end and you're there.
We had the choice of lever or Weller and chose Weller, mistake IMO as our list was screaming out for tall key position talent. If we had Lever and APearce lining up in our back six in 2017,you'd be pretty happy.
