Ainsworth is more Stringer than Robbie Gray
He wont add anything to our midfield. He'll be a quality flanker that can drop back and lead up at the ball. And he'll be a decent player doing it. But he's not what we need.
He'd constantly tease with midfield minutes but never deliver what we need
I've watched a fair bit of Ainsworth over two years of champs football and tac cup.
I'm always looking for players currently in the afl that I can compare juniors to (most of them end up being wishy washy at best) but there are two that really are hugely similar that have stuck out over this time, so much so that you'd swear that you are watching the actual afl player you are comparing them to...
One was how much jade Gresham moves and plays like Marc Murphy.
The other was Ainsworth and how much he reminded me of Robbie gray (they even look similar in the face/body). If you were ever looking to pick up a gray type player now is the time, because he's as close to that player as you'll ever get.
Although likely, he's no sure thing to get to Brisbane and I can't believe their isn't more talk about him for our pick on here.

Hayward or Haywood?Haywood 186cm HFF/Wing this kid is one of the best kick at goal I've ever seen. Can kick them from 55-60m with easy.
If we don't get Anisworth at pick 5 Haywood at pick 25, would be a great fit for us.
We badly need to find some goal scoring power.
I guess, then you could also add Taranto to an extent.McGrath to an extent.
Hayward or Haywood?
Also, from Victoria or from SA?
If it's the South Australian Hayward, he really is a shockingly inconsistent kick, but you're right that he can roost it.

When you say them at speed, the difference is almost non-existent.The commentators in those videos keep calling him Haywood but in the title of those videos his name is Hayward.![]()
Has a full blown case of the Levis, 4th round.Hayward would be a nice pick at 25 if he makes it.
Kicked something like 9 goals in an U18 SA game. Looked good in the Judd/MickyO game too

My only issue with that plan is the availability of Hisham Kerbatieh. Essendon grabbed him late last year as their 1st Academy player, so they now have first dibs on him.I just don't see it. We're going to delist 5 more, take 6 at the draft and a DFA, then probably look to rookie Kerbatieh in the first round, and Sheehan in the second.
Then we'll call it a day.

I was not impressed, as he had played all year with us to see if WE would recruit him (which remains quite probable).
That compares to Bradley, who was invited down to train and play with the NBs.
Now I may be wrong: I do NOT consider myself that good at predicting behaviour from our recruiters. But it looked like we were interested enough.
ESS - McLuggage
GWS - McGrath
GC - Bowes (after Bris bid)
Bris - SPS/Ainsworth
Carl - Brodie/Taranto
For sure.I don't pretend to know the draft but surely we will be taking mids with 5 and 25? KP stocks are finally pretty healthy between Weets, Plowman, Marchbank, Rowe, McKay, Curnow, Cas, Jones etc etc.
Cripps, Murphy and Gibbs need some help and fast.
I'm on the Ainsworth bandwagon. Best available at our pick and genuinely dual position. Will also add significant and much needed fire-power up forward.
I pray to the old Gods and the new that SPP will be still available at 25, however I think he'll be long gone.
Who says not taking SPS will be 'playing it safe', it might be the opposite. To my mind, 'not playing it safe' means Taranto or Scrimshaw. My SPS dream, which at times seemed so unlikely, could become reality! ... Unbelievable! ... I feel like we won't take him, by playing safe, but geez I hope we do! .. I like to apply Ryan Houlihan's famous philosophy to football, to the early picks in the draft (quoted from player profile in afl record): "go hard, or go home".
I have a bias towards indigenous players not only bc I think the best indigenous players are the best players in the country and an absolute pleasure to watch, but as a (non-indigenous) person, they make me super proud of our game.
With that in mind, was stoked to get Pickett. Would have loved Cameron as well.
