We'd bid on Bowes, doubt we'd bid on GWS player...Just think there'd be an "agreement" not to considering I think we did well out of trading with them again
They tried to force us into trading pick 5.

Then they held up our trade week by demanding we trade Gibbs for pick 13 and give it to them.

Then they told Stewart to go to Essendon because they didn't want to trade with us.

We should bid on their players with a vengeance. **** those bastards!

I think all agreements with GWS are over. Don't think they did us any favours when it came to the Marchbank/Pickett trade. I would have no concerns if we bid for Setterfield at 5

Adding Brodie as an inside mid allows Crippa to go forward, something he did well at times this year. He creates scoring opportunities and his size makes him an awkward match up for opponents. It is clear we must create more scoring opportunities.
Adding Brodie would certainly help lessen the load on Cripps around the clearances.
Feel Brodie is being slightly under rated as a forward treat, kid is a very good overhead mark
If we did go another way with pick 5, we might have to look at Dylan Clarke or even Drew with one or our next picks.

GWS smashing the draft every year needs to stop. They arrogantly traded their way into pick 2. They grabbed Brett from Richmond. Clubs need to make sure they regret it by nominating their top 3 academy kids early. They either lose one or they owe points next year. And next year they apparently have the best kid in the draft in their academy.

pick 5 needs to be elite and I think we require an accumulator in our team - All Australian elite

SPS is what 181cm and 76kg and has good games of mid 20 possessions - I fear against AFL bodies he will become an outside player only. Not sure that's what we need at the moment. Maybe Brisbane will though

SPP seems to have a bigger frame and may transition to the AFL better - don't know what the knock is but sounds like at 5 he would be a reach and I am little over reaching for WA players in the first round.

SOS - If Brodie is there at 5 snap him up and get potential at 25. If he aint then I fear our pick 5 could end up sliding with Academy picks being activated - might slide further if SOS chases inside mids
1 McLuggage (*)
2 McGrath (GWS)
3 SPS (Bris)
4 Brodie (GC)
5 Bowes (GC)
6 Taranto or Ainsworth or .... (Carlton)
TBH I rate SPP right up there with Brodie and I've got very long arms (Boekhorst long is a bridge too far though). If Cripps goes down our next best inside mid is Rhys Palmer. We can't keep avoiding the issue for ever. I'm over the club drafting these fluffy outside types who have a phobia of contested ball, can't stick a tackle, can't use the ball and have no concept of the defensive side of the game. After Brodie & SPP the next best inside mid is probably Jack Graham (with Pick 25) and that wouldn't bother me so much except that he's a South Australian and right now I want slam a ghost chilli up every South Australian's backside I meet!!!

I wasn't on big footy then obviously, what was the reaction here?
Well I can't speak for others I was very annoyed that we gave up our prized 2014 No. 7 pick and turned it into pick No. 19 plus two fringe players from the Giants and still none of them have proved to be regulars or even the potential to be anything better than just average players.

I was hoping that with our Pick 7 we might draft "2 meter" Peter and wouldn't he be fairly handy now as a KP forward or a goal kicking 2nd ruck !!!

Ed Curnow, Bryce Gibbs and Marc Murphy would be rightfully upset at Palmer being called the 2nd best contested mid behind Crippa

Note the good deal they gave the Tigers for Deledio.

Our starting midfield could look like this in two years if we pick up Scrimshaw:

R Matthew Kruezer (200 cm), Patrick Cripps (195 cm), Charlie Curnow (192 cm)
C Jack Scrimshaw (193 cm), Nat Fyfe (190 cm), Bryce Gibbs (188cm)

Maybe we should trade Bryce. He's a bit of a midget.

I don't get the Mathieson comparison with Brodie either. To me the player Brodie resembles is P. Cripps with those lightning handpasses, vision, awareness in the contest and evasion. Always seems to have an extra second to make a decision and it's almost always the right one.

His kicking is also much better than Mathieson's and, once again, like Cripps is effective without being outstanding. He's also smart enough to discern when it's the right option to kick and knows what he is capable of, which is a big tick.

As others have mentioned, he is aggressive, powerful, good overhead and will impact sooner rather than later; although he still has a lot of room for improvement.

I actually think it's hard to split him and McCluggage and it's lucky recruiters can because he is more suited to our needs and balances our list profile nicely. I think Brodie has gone under the radar somewhat and I'd be stoked if we ended up with him.

(Btw what is with recent draftees going under the pre-draft radar for us aka Curnow, Silvagni?)

I don't think they'll have a decent pick beyond their first round selection as a result of this year's bids. They picked up some future seconds, but if they get 4 bids spread through the top 25, or 5 in the top 30, I think they might get eaten up repaying points.

They're about to go from riches to rags in terms of draft stock, regardless of how many academy prospects they have next year.

I don't think Graham will be gone come pick 48, so he's a chance there. I just don't see him being a mid at AFL level, but I reckon he might surprise as a rebounding defender.

That said, I wouldn't pick him in the ND if it were up to me.

Our starting midfield could look like this in two years if we pick up Scrimshaw:

Maybe we should trade Bryce. He's a bit of a midget.
This is why Charlie shouldn't go into the middle just yet, and also why we love Bryce's versatility.

And finally, this shows why we should pick Scrimshaw: we can grab any outside speedster we like and that midfield will just feed them the ball non-stop, no matter the situation.

Have seen Clarke mentioned a bit on here as being possibly available at pick 25. Am I the only one concerned about his kicking? All his kicks seem to either fall short of the target at their feet or get blindly kicked out of a pack. He may be a good contested player but this is a huge worry for me. It's also why I'm not a fan of us drafting Powell-Pepper. He seems to turn the ball over and butcher it a fair bit.
Praying for Simpkin, Witherden, or Hayward to make it through to 25.

Has there been any lists released by champion data ranking all the draftees? I recall Caleb Daniel in his draft year was rated very high stats wise but slid. I'd like to know what the champion data top 10 is.

They haven't done their end of year one just yet, but here's one from March:

http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/201...n/news-story/d6edbe29b3055f1dfcbff852fb0bdf9a

Here's some names on there that haven't really been spoken about much this year:

Braidon Blake
Peter Ladhams
Harry Morrison

The rest is reasonably par for the course.

I really like the look of Scrimshaw, I just have a few concerns about his ability to be a midfielder. We don't need any more intercepting half backs.

Brodie would be a great fit for us I feel, has pretty good pace for his size too.
