Look at Swans midfield...they have 3 or 4 per game at 20 plus possessions plus ..and steam roll teams such as us....if we had 6 cripss we could be more happy.Judd,Cripps,Gibbs,Murphy,Brodie,Prestia....stuff like this equals sustained attack and possession of the football....wears down and demoralises the opposition...it can be and often is over at the midfield...should load up on first two picks as mids,usually at a premium.

The Swans midfield only has Kennedy who is comparable to Cripps. Hannebery can spread very well, Parker can play forward and middle. They're both very good at contested ball but they aren't the contested beasts Like a Kennedy, Cripps or Priddis. They might get 25 possessions with 15 contested but they will have 12 handballs 13 kicks or something around that mark. Cripps and Kennedy will get 25 possessions 20 contested and 21 handballs with only 4 kicks. You can't have a midfield with to many guys like that.

It's great to have one and I'm not talking down about Cripps at all (he's probably my favorite player at the moment), but having more than one or two of that style at a max and you'll have an unbalanced midfield. You need the guys like Hannebery and Parker to feed off of Cripps inside work, which Murphy and Gibbs were doing well until Murphy's injury.

I don't see Brodie as a Cripps clone at all. He has pace and a sidestep and kicks as much as he handballs. He is not purely a get hands on the ball and dish it out to advantage type of inside midfielder. He'll be a second wave behind Cripps who takes the ball at speed and busts through a stoppage. He is good at overlap running and spotting up inside 50 targets from stoppages.

Let's not forget we suffer in contested ball and clearances still. Gibbs is our second best clearance player and may only be here another year. If you get another 6 clearance per game player who can also use pace to run into space and link up, then you are probably adding another couple of strings to your midfield. Win the ball, grow the midfield, add the cream next year. Pickett, Palmer, Gibbs and Murphy can be the goalkicking mids until then.

Fair call. I agree re Kerr. He will most likely slide. Geelong are the only team that might nibble. The only thing with Fisher is his size...175cm and quite thin. Hopefully that's enough to get him through

I see Fisher as someone you add to a built midfield, much like Daniel for the doggies rather than building it around them. Talented though

Been thinking about this exact scenario for a while. Only problem I see here though is that GCS may be able to use 6 instead of 4 to get Bowes if their hand is forced. Dont they get a 20% discount on Academy Picks (would need 1787pts) and thus they would have a slight deficit using 6 (worth 1751). They do not however have any late picks other than 10 to make up the deficit, but can take a deficit into next year I believe. Not sure how this system works, if anyone knows, be much obliged.

This could be a possibility since Bombers have someone to replace Watson/Stanton so Brodie would be the selection unless they go with McGrath as Dempsey/Hibberd replacement

Just watched a highlight package on Clarke. Love how he gets the ball, but he also had @10 kicks that went a total of 43 metres.

As I said, pure inside beast. He did finish in the top 10 for kicking at the combine. Smart, huge tank and work rate, great pick up for 25

Thanks Arrow , agree then Clarke would be our nuts and bolts man at pick 25 I just wasn't sure about he's kicking skills , shutter when we select lads that are slow and can't kick.
This would allow fitness and skill at pick 5 , say SPS, Scrimshaw, Ainsworth or hopefully, Mc Cluggage.

I'm thinking a 2015 draft post has been wandering, lost and alone, for the last 12 months and has just staggered through the front door, soaking wet and completely unaware of what year it is.

Will be fascinating to see who SOS and co. select from a number of decent options. I do not have a raging favourite among the
mooted top 10. So pragmatically, we need a mid first and foremost, what type?
Bolts quoted as wanting someone who gets the pill himself and has excellent disposal, with the suggestion that he would like to
add some "lefties".
So Brodie and Taranto certainly get plenty of it, but have questions on disposal.
Scrimshaw, an elite leftie. Mixed reports on his ball winning and ability to be a genuine mid.
Petrevski-Seton is a rounded mid with mooted elite two sided disposal. Arguably more outside than in, but can do it
in the cauldron. If he ticks the boxes psychologically and can offer commitment to a Vic club, just about has to be him...logically.

I would have no problem with any of the others, but elite disposal, if on offer, has to be a priority.

So, second pick then should be a clearance machine (Clarke...who is a leftie and THE highest contested ball winner in TAC) or
another rounded type, two way runner (I rate Gallucci, disposal inconsistent but his best is in the elite bracket)

Intrigued by Simpkin, if we took a Brodie/Taranto, but likely to go between our picks.

No problem taking Kerr if he can profess his love for the Blues enough to get to our 3rd selection. Shows enough and has
the pedigree.

Adamant we need a young ruck with a late/rookie pick, and would love a Kerbatieh/Willie Rioli late as well.
