Too much negative energy for a Friday morning!

From his interview, Sam P-S seems like a lovely kid - remote community, Kriol speaker, now hoping to experience big city living.

You don't like sps too I gather.. and you don't have a reason you want to share either right? I enjoy opinions .. anything wrong with that?

It's not a matter of who I "like".

I only care about who will be making the greatest contribution to our club in 5 years time.

IMO Taranto is a safer choice than SPS.

He has cranked out higher SuperCoach points than any other player, plays inside/outside, takes contested marks, kicks goals and there is no "go home" risk at all.

If Taranto is not available I am not sure what I would do as I don't know enough about the other options relative to SPS.

PS - and I have made this point a number of times in previous posts.

What's that got to do with why we shouldn't take sps? Lol you might like McGrath but that doesn't mean you dont want sps.. and besides the supercoach king isn't always the best player.. I hope U understand Carrazzo would have smashed them both in supercoach.. but he didn't go at number 5 in his year.. he actually went as a rookie

Any of Taranto, SPS or Brodie will be fine @5 tbh. Hope SOS bids on Setterfield. Should have bid on Hipwood where we took McKay. Academy clubs got away with murder last year.

I think it's become more accepted that we won't have the option of taking Taranto. He potentially goes to GWS with pick 2 if Essendon take McGrath, while if McGrath slips to GWS at 2 then GC pounce on Taranto with pick 4. Assuming that McLuggage, McGrath and Ainsworth are definitely out of reach, my preferences would be:

Taranto > SPS > Scrimshaw > Brodie (bids for Setterfield or Bowes are possible, but would be matched)

Taranto has the talent and intensity, and is local, but we'll need some luck for him to be available.
SPS ticks all the boxes, and the only risk I see is the "go-home" element, but he's made it clear he wants to play in Melbourne.
Scrimshaw plenty of talent, can play a few positions, but questions have been raised about his attitude - I haven't seen it so I won't judge him by it.
Brodie is a little one-dimensional for me, and we can get a good inside mid with a later pick, so he slides down my list of priorities.

The board is impartial and a chain of thought for all supporters to have a say, if you don't like people having an opinion different to your own do not bully them asking for reasoning behind their own personal opinion while knowing other posters will back you who are also vocal.

We cater for all types here and ALL Carlton supporters while a pack mentality will not be tolerated cause someone posts something the pack do not agree with.
I, for one, think Denis Pagan will go down as one of our great coaches

my preference would be anyone out of Ainsworth, McGrath, mcluggage or Taranto
Would be happy with Brodie, scrimshaw or Haywood but For some unknown reason I will be disappointed if we take SPS
I hope we take SPS and I hope your disappointment is quashed by his performances in the Navy Blue.

Kreuzer, Murphy, Gibbs, Walker were all safe choices. Fair to say Cripps was not a safe choice. No one would have said Bontempelli was a safe choice.

Averaged 18 possessions at a DE of 48% across the National Carnival and his kicking efficiency was only 38%. Hardly anything to write home about, especially for someone of his talents. Luke Bunker averaged 22 possessions at 72% DE with KE of 60% and laid just as many tackles at the same carnival. People on this board belt the crap of of Kerridge who has a DE of 61%, because he burns the ball. How hard will they go at SPS if he runs at 48%. Yes, SPS will get drafted about 50 places ahead of Bunker, but the simple reality is that Bunker has already demonstrated he can handle a step up in class and pressure without it adversely affecting his game.

Be under no illusions, I'll be quite happy if SOS drafts SPS, but at least attempt to keep some objectivity in your claims rather than simply quote some star-crossed journo.
Thanks for your post TSG. You asked for objectivity rather than quoting a 'star-crossed' journalist.

So, from the following videos via the following link:

http://www.zerohanger.com/2016-afl-draft-prospects-sam-petrevski-seton-7659/

I see SPS as someone who makes the play, does not shirk a contest and can win the hard ball, has pace, and yet is comfortable on the inside, and will play better with better players around him.

Basing our future on Fyfe is frought with problems. There is strong argument for not pursuing him., that is, rebuild the right way through the draft, no shortcuts. Fyfe screams of a huge risk and potential generational (in football terms) setback ie injuries meaning best football behind him/if he sustains serious injury when on our list extreme loss on value- as against losing 2 first round picks. Leave him out of our plans. Patience and high picks are what we need.

Judd was a wonderful player for us. But in hindsight, would the club be better placed now if we had not got Judd and kept Kennedy, picks 3 and 20 (and not getting pick 36 / Armfield).

Not apples with apples as Fyfe would be a FA and so would most likely only take the salary dollars that we currently pay Thomas, Jacksch and Jones, and not draft picks or players

Agree. But in terms of mindset. i want SPS, Jack SOS and Weiters, for example, to be our franchise players, not a taped up Fyfe. The young generation coming through need to create and steer the culture. Also, is there a precedent in modern times of this type of acquisition working for a team rebuilding. There may well be.

Also fyfe takes the kids pay rises off them, or limits them.

SPS for me at 5 i reckon. Have forwards already ready to be built.
