Ok here we go

1 McGrath
2 Taranto
3 bris bid on Bowes (gc Bowes)
4 ainsworth
5 Carlton nahas
6 mcluggage!

I'd be stoked

my ideal dream

still leaves Lions selecting McCluggage anyway. unless they go with Ainsworth because he wants to go there.
Bowes is top QLD talent and go home factor non issue. would be surprised if lions dont bid

He's still contracted, so it's a breach of the AFLPA CBA if he signs with another AFL club. Technically I think it's a breach of the CBA if he signs with any other football club, but he's getting a pass there.

Chris Yarran has been released from his contract, effective immediately, to allow him to deal with ongoing mental health issues.

“Chris has found it difficult to meet the demands of AFL football given his personal issues,” Richmond General Manager – Football, Neil Balme said.

“Ultimately it was agreed with Chris, and his management, that stepping away from the game is in the best interest of his long-term health and wellbeing.”

Yarran said he greatly appreciated the support of Richmond over the past 12 months.

“I am extremely grateful for the support Richmond has given me over the past year. I am deeply disappointed my ongoing health issues have not allowed me to repay the Club and its supporters,” Yarran said.

Honestly think there's collusion/inter-club agreement in place if Bowes isn't bid on by Lions, where they know Suns would match a bid and he's rated top 3 on talent by many. They're rival clubs and don't owe each other anything so don't understand why Lions wouldn't bid - unless the genuinely don't rate Bowes in the top 5 (in which case, they're idiots - kid will be a gun).

Christ, what a transparent piece of clubspeak. Just sign here, Chris.

If SPS is still available at pick 5, you take him, best available talent and all that.

I think the big difference between Brodie and players like Cripps and Bont in their draft year is that after the champs, Cripps went on to have some dominant games (I think he had a game where he got over 45 disposals), and the Bont had many 40 plus disposal games. They both showed the ability to work their arses off and put in 4 quarter performances. There is absolutely none of that from Brodie, if anything his form tapered off at the back end of the season. He only had 1 game for the entire season where he got 30 disposals, he has very rarely given a four quarter performance according to quite a few.

Who knows maybe he will become the absolute gun you think, but if you are able to forget the mid-season hype and look at the numbers, there is a big difference between what this guy has shown and what a guy like Cripps had shown. Conversely, with SPS you are seeing this small statured kid who is going to be another James Aish. I think SPS's ability to win his own ball will stand him in good stead when compared to those top ten picks of smaller stature.
Appreciate your thoughts:thumbsu:.

Has SPS had breakout games like Bont and Cripps?

Brodie was BOG early in the season and then played under injury. Has not torn it up but looks like he can.
Will not be disappointed with SPS and will hope he becomes the player we need.
Just not sure an Aish is the type of player we need at pick #5. Want consistent A grade output.

She has English as a massive slider for one.
They all have English going to the Dogs, bar maybe one. Not just her; that's a groupthink effort.

So you've not read around, and you've jumped on here to pot her? Righto.

Neil Balme describes Club’s consideration for Chris Yarran

Yarran retired effective immediately on Tuesday without playing a game for the Tigers and has returned to Western Australia to focus on his battle with mental health issues.

The 25-year-old, who Balme said would remain a listed player in 2017, could re-join his junior club Swan Districts in a move the Tigers would support.

I notice Aphrodite has made 5 threads ready to welcome our draftees.

Have the club indicated we won't be using 6 picks?
She made a thread for our final pick? I think you've missed one (or she has).

If Ainsworth is at three they've made a promise to draft him.

A few days ago they all had him going top ten. Hers was the first I'd read with him dropping.

There are others.

Reddit is laughing at her.

Of course I'm here to pot her.

A WEEK AGO she told someone on Twitter that Yazz would be an All-Australian contender for Richmond this year (2017 season).

That tweet was quickly deleted but not before it was screenshotted for all posterity. She has no integrity in anything that she says or does.

Position on the commission surely awaits then

Gentleman's agreement between all zone clubs. Never bid on our players and we'll never bid on yours.

You have got to hand it to her that she was the first to pay attention to what was happening in the U18s. 5 years later we can thank her for keeping self proclaimed draft experts such Anderson, Twomey and Landsburger out of Centrelink offices.

I went off the AFL website draft order.

I missed Pick 65 & have created a thread for that pick now.

Surely they would have consulted with Aphrodite ??

:p

Aish was always an outside player, that's why their were always concerns about him pre-draft. Completely different to SPS. Sam hasn't had those breakout games either although he had some excellent performances at the end of the year after injury (including the all-stars game). I guess the difference between the two is the perception that one is "flaky" and the other is not. When you look at the numbers they both have the same problem of floating in and out of games.

I think there is a moneyball type bias for Brodie by many people. The guys like McGrath and Taranto who shone at the end of the year and dominated late will be gone, Brodie didn't do that and I don't think he is any more of a sure thing than Petrevski-Seton.

We don't want SPS to be like Aish, but we also don't want Brodie to be like Whiley. Comparisons between failed players of similar stature can be made with anyone.

Yeah like we promised to draft Talia.

lol. I know a kid who a few years back was promised, or near promised, by 3 clubs that they would take him with their lateish 1st rounder/early 2nd rounder.

He was taken by a club other than those 3 late in the 2nd round, after 2 of those clubs had already had 2 picks lol

It's a lottery.
