McGraths a star, one of my good mates. Extremely aerobic and a leader. I played junior footy with him and i always thoight his kick wasnt at that elite level, however i think it is now.
Kerr's a mate too, kicked 8.5 including 2 on the full against GGS a few weeks ago. SKC did score 189 though. Worried about his size though, is he big enough for KPF? Is he aerobic enough for a C. Curnow type?

If Josh Rotham is available with our 2nd we should get him. He is a star in the making.
Hey mate has kerr had any contact with sos or the like yet?

We do have Bailey Rice finishing his apprenticeship at St Kilda in 12 months time, so all is not lost if we don't draft Pat.

We didn't want Rice first time around, so what is it about him that we'd chase him now?

Forget the romance......just get the right player......unless your name is Silvagni, of course :)

We didn't.
Sure we did

Carlton has also nominated Bailey Rice — son of premiership player Dean — despite the youngster declaring he’d prefer to play with St Kilda.

McKay says Carlton’s decision to nominate Rice means the Blues will have the opportunity to pick up the defender should circumstances change.

“Although Bailey has already indicated he’d like to go to the Saints, by nominating him, this gives us the next opportunity if anything was to change,”

You mean a couple of those early kicks here?
Did you miss one, two or three other key qualities here?

What about here? Nothing you like?

Harks the kid will be a good player no doubt, but to waste a 1st rounder on him when we have bigger issues is a bit silly in my view, we need a Mcluggage or Brodie type at this stage, even Venables is way ahead of this guy, if we were going for a smaller type, I'd go Ainsworth or Parfitt... Pick 5 for Mcgrath doesn't add up for me!!

Yeah really like Rotham also, great athlete... Kerr reminds me a bit of Membrey when I was dying for carlton to pick him up in the draft, Kerr will also be a very good player! But as I've said over and over, Mcluggage will be the best player in this draft!!

Please, with all your knowledge, explain to me how selecting McGrath would be "wasting" our pick?

Just because he's your mate doesn't mean you need to get upset, none of us here are experts, at the end of the day we're all just giving opinions, I think he would be a total waste at 5 because there are other prospects that look a lot better for one, and two we are not that much in need for a player of his type at that price, btw I follow the draft every single year and the players I select do very well in their afl careers, doesn't mean I'm always right but I beleive I have a decent eye for it...

Midfield needs?
McGrath looks like a midfielder to me; 1. Knows where the ball is going 2. Lightning quick disposal. 3. Burst out of a pack 4. Excellent vision.

Generally speaking, I don't like taking someone that plays in one position and re-invent them to play another but this guys has tricks.........and on top of that....He can run all day.....Carries the ball well....Has good disposal....Can find the ball....Is daring....Can mark the ball....Is a leader on and off, the ground.

Ticks a hell of a lot of boxes for me

You've missed my point harks, I'm not saying he won't be a gun, but would you right now take him over Mcluggage?? Or Brodie if available? These 2 over McGrath any day for me but you're entitled to your opinion... Just think we need a bigger type body in the mid, if we're going to use our 1st on a Mcgrath type which has been said to play a lot off the hb line, we might as well give our 1st to gc for prestia, which I wouldn't be too excited about...

I think people are expecting Brodie and McCluggage to be gone by our pick. SPS also.

If freo go for English, gc get Bowes, ess or bris go for sps, we'll get one, seems unlikely though, but then I'd go Venables...

Essendon requested the AFL let Brodie play VFL for them for the rest of the season. The request was denied but he looks likely at #1.

Also, i must add, im extremely good mates with dylan clarke.

He is a freak. Better than mcgrath in my opinion. Massively strong, his hands are so quick and brilliant. Racks up 35 touches without realising. A contested beast. Would be a great chop out for cripps.
Biggest weakness is kicking, as is Cripps' it must be said however.
But similar to paddy, clarkes kick doesnt really matter his inside work is unreal and so clean.
Despite being different players, he's better than his brother.
Would be available with our second pick, gun.
