Draft watchers.

Who has the best kick/disposal in the draft that will be top 10?

SPS is pretty special by foot. He reminds me abit of Daniel Wells, hits perfect passes off either foot and has a really smooth kicking action.

Scrimshaw is up there too IMO. Has a very nice long left foot kick and hits his short passes too.
At 193cm he has a really lovely kicking action. Little abit of the Bont about it.

Tim English. The best of KPP. His a Ruck/Forward but kicks the ball like his a midfielder.
His not the best tap Ruckman in this years draft, but his kicking skills are that good that his being talked about a likely top 10 pick.

First of all, you cannot count the other Silvagni lad until he is actually drafted to the club.

Secondly, we are bereft of seriously tall players and Marshall looks like he is the best of the big men in this years draft.

If we trade Casboult (and I think we will) and McKay doesn't reach the level, then we had better have another big tall or two waiting in the wings or we'll be in more strife than we already are.

There is meant to be some very good footage of Marshall from the weekend, that is pretty impressive.
He only kicked 3 or 4 goals but he took some great marks and had a quite a few absolutely stunning chase down tackles.
Heard some recruiters were really impressed with the footage, particularly the case down tackles and were asking each other if they'd mange to see it yet.

I still think we could be a sneaky chance to nab Brodie or McCluggage.

Yeah definitely could be a chance. Ainsworth and Marshall could both slip into the top three, which means we could be in with a shot.

Yep. If Harry was about a week younger he'd be in this year's draft pool and probably rated slightly above Marshall.

I'm not sure the age thing means much. Think marshalls an October birthday and McKay a December birthday. 2/3 months difference in draft year.

Marshall would be a first rounder in any draft. The only knock on him is his frame. Needs plenty of development. Other than that think he's a good option for today's key forward play. 198cm, clean hands, very agile, looked quick on the lead. Likened to McCarthy and l can see the likeness. Bit taller though. Not as big as McKay but a better goal kicker at Same age.

I though McKay was a more speculative pick than Marshall would be. If McKay had have been born a week later recruiters wouldn't have given him any leeway on his age. He would have needed to have a much more productive year to go in the top 10. Plenty of junior players have better underage years, an example might be Goddard.

That last paragraph maybe doesn't make sense.

I meant if McKay had fallen into this years draft year because of a slightly later birth date, he would have needed to be far more productive to go top 10. No guarantee this happens.

This is a good year for us to have a top 5 pick. We could easily get a player we had rated at 1 or two with pick 5.

Freo may even take English with there first pick. Sandi won't be around much longer and English could play as a ruck/forward, which is something there list is missing. Also he is a WA boy so no go home factor, very important when using picks inside the top 5.

The two Queensland teams are hard to get a read on. GCS have so many picks already, also have trades that may effect there drafting strategy and have two highly rated Acdemy mids Bowes and Sheers.
Think SPS and Engish could interest them.

Brisbanes midfield is the strongest area on there list ATM. Although they could use a clearance beast like Brodie.
Think they will be very wary of who they take tho, last thing they can afford is for another high first round pick leave after there first contract.
Marshall could interest them and also Anisworth.

If Fremantle keep their first pick, I wouldn't be surprised if they take English. Might be higher than most people rate him but we all know how desperate Freo are for tall talent, and he is a South Fremantle (WAFL) player.

I wonder if freo would trade down. It's not that English isn't worth a high pick but clubs are reluctant to use very high picks on ruckman. Could trade down to pick 8/9, take English, and get extra pick for hill/McCarthy. Would be risky though.

I will laugh if they give up pick 3 for McCarthy.
His behaviour since last year's trade week has been far from professional.
Not the sort of guy I would be happy about giving a top 3 pick for, regardless of talent.

Zero chance of giving up pick 3. 2nd -3rd at best with a year out the game. Freo will be a smokey for top 4 when they get Fyfe, Hill, Bennell, McCarthy, Johnson and a fit Sandi on the park and hearing they're taking SPS with pick 3

I just don't think they will, even though the fit on face value seems logical.

Don't think they need SPS too much if they take Brad Hill.
Never pass on a quality player I know, but they have as many gaps around the field as we have, yet quick outside mids isn't their issue.

Think the school of thought is that English could be more of a forward/ruck, rather then just a ruckman.
Also Brisbane and GCS could be interested, so if they down grade they risk missing out on him.

SPS is a very good inside player, no matter what anyone else says online.

From everything I have seen I thought that was clear, but a lot of the descriptions of him question contested ball winning, which seems weird. He seems to tackle hard and hunt the ball, very slick and clean off the deck.

Not nearly as outside as people say whenever I watch highlights

I looks really good on the outside, but certainly not a pure outside player.

Still he really needs to increase his numbers a lot more and get into some dangerous places.

I remember Wells as a jnr and he destroyed the WAFL seniors, was a beast of a player.

If we were to be so lucky to be able to call out SPS's name come draft night I'd be extatic his a jet will be an elite AFL player for certain and best pick of this years draft.
