6'8 wright would be a handy pickup
Absolutely.
And to think we could have had him at #7. That deal will haunt us for years.

Is that a known fact about the GCS late first round pick for Everitt? Surely we would have jumped at that offer.
Thought he was from country WAAgree but not sure we knock back fyfe if he came home and chose us .
it was actually our pick 8 & Everitt for their pick 6. we'd go two places up the table.

I think EQ said pick 28 was offered. I think a similar deal might be offered again this season.According to barass70, the proposed deal was #11 and Everitt for #6.
As it worked out it would have given us the choice of Weideman or McKay at #6 as we would have then still taken Charlie at #8.
We were the one's that knocked it back.

Despite how many shitcan him on both major CFC forums, he can kick and he can run, but he's just not working in our system for some reason, and no, it's not defensive running. I'm tired of hearing that bollocks: he ran both ways at Sydney and under MM.
I think he just doesn't get our defensive structure at the moment or it's a personality clash about how to execute it. Perhaps the odd niggle early on in the season impacted him as well.

Played as a utility for the two seasons before that (one at the Swans, mostly out of defence). Can play.I haven't forgotten he kicked 31 goals last season in the wooden spoon side. The talent is there.
A spell in the VFL sooner would have allowed him to work on a few things.

Disagree. Would only trade if Dre wants to go and gets us something we need.his best year was as a disciplined hbf at sydney. played on a man and then ran off him. had a very good season but that was a while ago now. at the moment he picks and chooses when to go and does it too much. even at vfl level. if we can get anything from 40 and under i'd do it in a heartbeat. not the future and if he cant play well under bolton now he never will.

Dre has played well in previous seasons and is young enough to have several more very good seasons.
He can play a variety of roles and will be very hard to replace. particularly in our forward rotation.

I think Tomlinson is a logical replacement, but Dre is a better kick at present.
Yep. Quayle believed it was #29 "and another pick" that was offered by GC, but the deal would only go through on the proviso we secured Tomlinson.
deathanxiety had a different version which was Everitt to GC, and they'd upgrade our #21 to #16 and #8 to #6.
So the challenge for Bolts is to get Dre to play well every time (and not be injured).Dre can play, but only when it suits him.
There have been many instances of this, but there was a game not that long ago where I didn't even notice him until the final quarter. He'll be gone at years end and hopefully the Suns still want him.

We are getting rid of around 12 players this year and need to retain some experience and depth on the list.
I think Dre stays unless we get something valuable back.
Agree on Cuningham as Gresham and Burton were off the board at that pick (20 after bids), may have gone for Lovell, maybe.I can't see that we wouldn't have accepted this offer as Weideman would have been ours.........and McKay would have been an Adelaide player (We would have taken Curnow next, regardless) SOS rated Weideman highly.
Don't know whether the next selection may have serviced us though, as Cuningham may have been taken at that #16 anyway.
We don't need Dre with Silvagni and C.Curnow coming through.
We also have Lamb who plays a pretty similar role.

I am Ok with Dre leaving but not for nothing. He is still valuable to us.Don't forget Tomlinson who also looks all but certain to be at the club next year.
Between AT and the two others you mentioned above, we have more than enough young talent to cover for Dre. He's certainly someone we can afford to move on at the end of the year - in fact I'd be stunned if he's still in navy blue next year.
Don't forget Tomlinson who also looks all but certain to be at the club next year.
