McCluggage, McGrath, Brodie & Ainsworth all had good games in the TAC Cup this weekend. McCluggage (4) & Ainsworth (3) got among the goals.

McCluggage doesn't have too many problems finding the goals, does he?

Dodoro must be licking his lips (and probably other lips, also :)) with the 'luck' he has been afforded.....So lucky.....So brave

Whichever team labours on the bottom of the ladder, the same questions will be asked of them.
Selecting players is vitally important but it's not quite everything.

In the names you've put up, O'Keefe seemed capable of developing into a good player, although injury didn't allow him to be.
Browne was an average footballer that may have had a role in a good team................Davies though?

Davies, McCarthy and Temay are the three that just didn't show anything from early training days.....and the club were seeing McCarthy as a captain?
Walked away from a beep test because it was too hard........A captain here?
Yeah, Temay is another that baffled me a bit at that pick but the three I mentioned all came in succession and were 'talked up' enormously. The point is not that they weren't worth a spot on our list at all but the fact that their value was over-inflated when we should have been looking for midfielders and genuine KPPs. They just seemed so one-dimensional and symptomatic of a questionable mindset at the time. I tend to think we were too narrow focused and favoured 'runs on the board' over developmental potential. Fans were pleading with the club to play it safe at the draft with those picks and that's exactly what they did, it didn't work. O'Sullivan used to do better than that with even later picks, he just couldn't get the early ones right.

sounds a little like a previous Pick 13........

Very Similar Thy.
Northampton (Cripps) is also large scale stuff but in the Nth West of the WA cereal crop/sheep farming area (450km North of Perth, coastal).
I reckon they would get on like a house on fire.
Cripps could take Fyfe pig shooting (one of Cripps' hobbies) and Fyfe could most likely take Cripps Dog shooting as wild dogs are starting to enter the SE farming region.
A match made in CFC heaven! LOL

Pfffft, Fyfe is only 190cm. Too short to be a midfielder...

Anisworth had a ripper on the weekend 34 possessions 6 clearances goals 3.4 tackles 4 mark 4
His putting his hand up for that number one pick, his starting to show how explosive he can be as a midfielder.
This is a good thing for us.
Scrimshaw 25 touches 11 handball recives 5 marks
McGrath 27 touches 5 marks 5 tackles.
Dylan Clarke 30 touches 8 tackles 9 marks 1 goal
Gallucci 21 touches 7 tackles 1 goal.
Marshall 9 touches 3 goals 3 mark 3 tackles.
Taranto 25 touches 10 tackles 5 marks 1 goal
Berry 18 touches 3 goals 3 marks 5 tackles.
McCluggage 25 touches 8 tackles 4 goals.

Clarke seems to find the ball a lot. Wouldn't mind taking him with our second rounder.

I'm interested in who all the teams in front of us will select and why:

Essendon will simply take who they see to be the best player.
Brisbane though? Could they be influenced by someone less likely to leave them? Probably not but......
Fremantle: Do they stick with the home-grown in SPS or reach for a tall?

Can see why SOS won't let go of the first pick here.
We may just end up with someone we didn't bargain for, only 10 weeks ago.

It is going to be interesting. Not sure if Essendon will even keep pick 1, but what they really need is someone to partner JoeyD.
Brisbane will want whoever they take to make all the right noises about possibly staying up there for the next 10 years, they IMO can not just go best available. It would be a disaster if they take someone at pick 2 and he leaves in two years.
Can't see Freo taking anyone from interstate it will most likely be SPS or English.
Great year to have a pick inside the top 5, could win big and can't lose.

Nice left foot kick, clearance machine and loves to tackle, he sounds perfect for us...
Could easily see us pinching a late-first with the trades we're looking at, so a Brodie/SPS/Ainsworth and Clarke/Battle combo could be excellent and viable.

Yep. If Anisworth can keep putting up these kind of numbers playing as a forward mid, Devon Smith style.
He would be a great fit for us, would help us fill two needs up forward and through the midfield.
He may be the best player for Carlton.
We certainly need to add some goal scoring power to our forward line.
Anisworth at 4 and Dylan Clarke at 16 would be fine with me.

I'm trying to come up with ways to have my cake and eat it to.
It would be amazing if we could somehow nab.

Pick #4
Pick #14 (GWS)
Pick #20ish
Jaeger O'Meara
Marchbank, Tomlinson, Stewart

It might cost us, Touhy, Casboult and either multiple 2nd's or a 2017 1st, but it would SERIOUSLY set us up.

Pick #4 - Keep.
Pick #14, Marchbank, Tomlinson, Stewart - Trade 2017 1st, 2016 3rd.
Pick #20ish - Keep our 2nd.
Jaeger O'Meara - Trade Casboult & Dogs 3rd to Brisbane for Brisbane's 2nd. Trade Touhy for a pick in the Early 20's. Trade these two picks and Everitt to GC for Jaeger O'Meara.

I think that is a pretty conservative approach. SoS could possibly even wring some better value out of that, possible palces I can see extra value coming from would be a higher trade for Touhy, or a lesser trade for the GWS 3 or 4.

Our youth would then look like this.
23: Daniel Gorringe, Jed Lamb, Mark Whiley, Dylan Buckley, Adam Tomlinson
22:
Sam Kerridge, Liam Sumner, Blaine Boekhurst, Sam Docherty, Andrew Gallucci, Jaeger O'Meara, James Stewart
21:
Nicholas Graham, Lachie Plowman, Kristian Jaksch, Matthew Dick, Ciaran Byrne, Patrick Cripps
20: Jayden Foster, Clem Smith, Dillon Viojo-Rainbow
19: Billy Gowers, Jesse Glass-McKasker, Charlie Curnow, David Cunningham, Caleb Marchbank
18:
Jacob Weitering, Jack Silvagni, Harry McKay
17: (#4 - SPS/McGrath/Ainsworth/McLuggage) (#16 - Scrimshaw/Venables) (#20~ - Powel-Pepper/Clarke/Battle)

I love the look of that spread.

U24 Squad:
FB: J. Weitering, C. Marchbank, S. Docherty
HB: D. Buckley, L. Plowman, C. Byrne
R: (...) P. Cripps, D. Cuningham
C: Scrimshaw, J. O'Meara, McGrath
HF: L. Sumner, H. McKay, C. Curnow
FF: J. Silvagni, J. Stewart, A. Tomlinson
Int: Clarke, B. Boekhurst, S. Kerridge, J. Lamb

Ainsworth showing his talent in the midfield, we know his forward talent. I'd rather take him than McGrath, who is defender/mid.

Trading our 2017 first is highly unlikely to happen. Next year's draft already rated to have an elite top 10 with a bunch of different types. We could easily grab one of the best midfielders from next year's crop with a pick around #7. We'd be crazy to give it up for Marchbank and pick #16 in this year's group.
