If the Saints smack Brisbane around Essendon may miss the spoon and there goes their threats of PSD
Think they'll need to win by over 10 goals. Game is at Etihad so it is a possibility. Depends which Saints outfit turns up.

To make the finals they'll need to win by about 250 points so unfortunately they won't have that motivation going for them.

I'm just suggesting what the betting agencies regard as a risk, not the margin to displace * at 18th!

A 10-12 goal margin does seem plausible if the Saints demolish them like they did us a few weeks back. But it's crazy last round where anything could happen.

Ainsworth apparently BOG again, this weekend.

Finals on their way and will make for some great viewing.
Anisworth making things very interesting. There is a view that the Dons may prefer Brodie or Anisworth to McCluggage.
Also hearing that Brisbane are big time into McGrath.

Dependent on the finals, things will likely still move around.
McGrath and Ainsworth have apparently been terrific in recent weeks with McLuggage and Brodie far from slouches, themselves.

All four have serious form behind them and given SPS is likely of be part of that top tier grouping, we're not going to miss on a real talent @ #5

Brisbane also keen on Ainsworth. Very interesting draft coming up. Fortune for us as 4 or 5 kids all have legitimate claims as the best. We're assured of at least one.

Also have to add Bowes to that group. I'm sure at this stage there will be at least one more player make a late surge into the top 5. This years Bontempelli or Oliver.
Pick 5 is a great spot to be picking this year, particularly because of who the teams above us are.
GCS will most like use pick 4 on Bowes.
Freo can't see them going past local talent.
Brisbane may not take the consensus pick 2.

That's the thing, isn't it?
Not out of the question that the player we rate as the best, lands at our feet.
It will be hard to let go the #5 under those circumstances.

Even if we miss out on the number one player on SOS's draft board, we very easily land his 2nd or 3rd choice.
Very hard to see SOS giving up that pick, it's worth more then it would seem.

As it stands , GC have pick 4 and we have 5 .
Then there's every chance GC will have 6 from Richmond in exchange for Prestia .
Would it be possible that we have a little pre draft discussion with the Suns re who they select/don't select at 4 on the understanding that we don't bid on Bowes at 5 ?

We've discussed everyone. Another Boekhorst on the horizon, you reckon? :)
Nah, there are better draft watchers here than i'll ever be and it seems that Cuningham was the only one we didnt pick from last years grouping. Most interest for me will be how much we value the first round pick and whether it matters if it'z 5 or anywhere in top 10-15.

I think you'd lean towards the the guys that prove themselves week in, week out because if they can do it at this level, they're more likely to produce at the higher level. You want guys with absolute commitment and the guys mentioned already, clearly have that.

Our first pick will be safe and secure....the second onwards is where the real smarts come into play.

Its also possible SOS will try and turn 5 into 8 & 10 or 9 & 12 etc..

With the way that pick 5 is positioned this year. Pick 5 may as well be seen as pick 2-3.
It would be very unlikely that SOS will give up that pick.
More likely that will try and trade for more picks inside the top 25 this year.
