I think the top 5 is pretty much set, with Todd Marshall & Ben Ainsworth the two that could disrupt that.

McLuggage, Bowes, SPS, Brodie, McGrath (no particular order)

With us having pick 5, we can see we really need Bowes to be bid on, otherwise we slip outside this top 5.

I am personally holding hope that we get one of those 5 listed - our list is not in any shape to be fussy about a particular type.

Let's also remember that Brisbane may be awarded a priority pick yet..

I screwed my nose up at a small forward being a top pick in a draft a few months back, but am happy to eat my words now.

We can't lose at this pick.

More than happy to make some some room on the Ainsworth bandwagon for you Harks.

Realistically who will bid on Bowes? The Lions wont (academy sides wont force each other to take academy kids), * wouldn't risk #1 (or want to lose the marketing opportunities related to #1) so it will come down to Freo bidding at #3. How likely is that occurring?

Fremantle would be my best guess.

Top 5 isn't set in my opinion.

I think a lot hinges on Brisbane. I've heard that they like Ainsworth, and Petrovski-Seton is a supporter so they might be tempted by a talent like him with a reduced "go home" factor. It will also be a big factor if they bid on Bowes.

If Marshall closes out the season with any big game (he's mostly compiled highlights so far) then he might push Fremantle to consider him.

If Gold Coast aren't forced to pick Bowes before 4, they would still be a chance to take him with 4 IMO. It's not the "efficient" use of their picks, but they might be out to engender loyalty in the young kid given recent retention problems.

Essendon can set the tone with pick 1, they are big fans of Brodie, so if McLuggage doesn't get selected he will be a big carrot for the 3 interstate clubs who select before us. Generally I would think Freo wouldn't be skittish taking a Victorian, but GC and Brissie will IMO. Does McLuggage match what Freo are after? Well they expect Bennell back, and will be after Brad Hill, not to mention expecting Walters to pick up form, makes them less likely to select the slight of frame McLuggage.

Interesting times ahead

Anyone got a current AFL player who is most like the guys below:

McCluggage
Bowes
Ainsworth
SPS
Brodie
McGrath

Whoever is a pacy mid who can use the ball by foot would be handy. We haven't had one of those since about 2000

Out of the players mentioned for pick 5 are they all capable of stepping straight into seniors? I havent watched many of the games.

Brodie , Ainsworth Mcgrath for sure. McCluggage maybe, but frame may be a bit light. Doubtful on SPS he will need time.

Knightmare compares them as;
McLuggage - Akermanis
Bowes - Dal Santo
Ainsworth - Jamie Elliot (also here Chapman comparisons)
SPS - Burgoyne
Brodie - Bontempelli (strang one this one, I don't see the comparison personally, maybe Bont without the long kick)
McGrath - Stephen Hill

Isn't SPS the only one currently playing seniors for Claremont in the VFL, none of the others are playing against men, Bowes is playing for GC 2's actually, so he is, but NEAFL

All of the players would be very handy additions to our list.
Brodie and Anisworth are more developed and would be almost ready to go straight away.
McCluggage has a slight build, may need some time. SPS also may take some time.
McGrath would be close to ready to go straight away, would definitely add some run and carry.

You might be thinking of Sam Powell-Pepper? Last I heard SPS was playing Colts.

Well i'm sold on SPS if this is true.

It;s Sam Powell-Pepper that has been playing WAFL league for the last four weeks. He's performed fairly well too. SPS has only payed Colts this year but played three seniors games last year.

It's hard to make these comparisons .

Brodie is very Mundy like though

McCluggage is more outside like Dal Santo, Bowes more inside

Ainsworth will be more versatile and aggressive than J Elliot

McGrath like Stephen hill ? Nope don't see it

Might be, SPP and SPS, confusing.

Powell-Pepper is playing WAFL seniors and doing pretty well.

Petrevski-Seton is playing Colts and seems to be being managed thru a year that didn't have a fitness base thru injury. He seems to be dominating Colts since the Carnival but so far they have resisted putting him against the men.
