But with Jack, 18, likely to make his debut for Carlton any week now it seems likely the Blues will have two Silvagnis running around soon.
Ben been receiving coaching from Hawthorn premiership captain Luke Hodge, who is part of the Xavier program.

I don't know how he can be 195cm. Urban myth?

Look, Dangerfield is playing some terrific footy at the moment, but I can't believe how short some people's memories can be. Judd was huge for us, and in many ways is the blueprint for the modern midfielder, which Dangerfield follows pretty closely. Dangerfield is larger, and plays a bit more contested than Judd did early in his career, but less than Judd later on. Danger also kicks more goals, but Judd was so much more. Danger has a habit of needing every single one of his 48 possessions to influence a match; Judd could change a game with 28. At the end of his career is the time where you could compare the two.

Ablett, though, is not an apples to apples comparison. When Ablett was at his best, he went beyond the sublime to being the most perfect footballer I've ever seen. Could kick them from anywhere, never missed a target, had time always, nigh untackleable without the brutish don't argues in vogue now. I'm not saying he's ever going to get back to his best - I hope he does, was amazing to watch - but it is unfair to compare Dangerfield to Ablett at his best. One is a supremely talented mortal; the other was as close as we'll ever get to superman.

Gibbs = our best set shot at goal/ likely still in the midfield and resting forward - but could be permanently forward by 2019.

This ignores GWS4MkII, Foster, Liam Jones, Smith, Tutt, swinging Weits, Rowe, Daisy, Everitt, Gorringe, etc.
Really think we need quality mids in 2016 draft as we drafted 3 key tall's early in the draft last year.

Well stated ! agree with mostly all except a couple
9. Wright my prediction Gone older body
7. Gallucci 50-50 but more gone has pace nothing else to offer should of picked up Kerbatieh instead !
6. Kerbatieh I have a gut feeling will go in the national draft somewhere else kids got much class at 18 if we do get him he will be a regular in 2019 talking that 1 small forward - midfield place
Cripps = resting forward Love this !!
12. KJ = KPF we will never be sure !!

When you read that comment it looks like a complete no-brainer.

Thing is, prior to Bolton, I doubt any of our coaches have had that strong a vision/mantra which is a major reason as to why we have had so many substandard players at the club over the past decade or so.

EDIT : Whilst our previous recruiting people undoubtedly had the best intentions, clearly they were not thorough enough in their research of potential draftees which led to way too many misses. They were also too prepared to take a player on pure speculation instead of playing the higher percentages. Silvagni was horrified at the lack of data and system at the club when he arrived, it was so bad that it resembled a suburban club instead of multi-million dollar professional sports club.

The talk about Ben Silvagni surely needs its own thread, the urban myths are incredible for this kid. Can't wait for someone to provide us all footage of him playing

But assuming this draft we take midfielders and going off the majority of players that Bolts has used this year, plus the players SOS drafted & traded in last season, fair to say that Bolton & Silvagni look at players in the draft with the following traits
  1. Coachable - able to understand a complex game plan and follow instructions esp under duress. We have a lot of specific instructions that players must follow depending on the situation on the day.
  2. Above Average Skills - Our game plan requires at times pin point kicking
  3. Bold & courageous - Our game plan, when executed properly, requires players to take the game on and be daring
For arguments sake, lets say that the ladder stays the way it is, we get pick 8, and assuming the following clubs select like this

Pick 1:Essendon - Will Brodie - Another mid in the Jobe Prototype in terms of size almost clear cut pick 1
Pick 2: Brisbane - Hugh McCluggage - Need a classy mid, may also take Sam Petrevski Seton
Pick 3: Gold Coast - Jack Bowes
Pick 4: Fremantle - Sam Petrevski Seton - This pick may be traded to GWS for McCarthy - Academy Kid Harrison Macreadie
Pick 5: Collingwood traded to GWS in 2015: Will Setterfield - Academy Kid
Pick 6: Richmond - Todd Marshall - Rated key forward with an enormous upside
PIck 7: St Kilda - bid for Harry Perryman then Brad Scheer ultimately settle on WIlliem Drew - They would want a inside mid to compliment there outside runners

We would probs be looking at the following players who might be available. There descriptions I got from Knightmare but I agree completely with them

Andrew McGrath - a midfielder with the versatility to play multiple positions who shows a willingness to take on the game with his run and carry but also has the ability to win his own ball. He also displays class and composure with ball in hand and is a reliable ball user who uses the ball particularly well by foot.

Jordan Gallucci is very much suited to the modern AFL game with his vision, quick decision-making, footskills, ability to move the ball on quickly off one or two steps and his explosive burst of pace. With these attributes, Gallucci can provide quick and meaningful ball movement, which is an asset all teams will be on the lookout for.
 
Some things that may yet happen:

1. Essendon receives a first rounder for Hurley (Effectively pick#1, giving them the top 2 picks)
2. Brisbane receive a priority (They won't but you never know)
3. No-one bids for the Academy guys. (May happen once and maybe even twice)

Our early pick may not end up quite as early.

Not sure Bows, Settlefield, Perryman and Scheer will get nominated that high.

The AFL have already stated that Brisbane will not be getting a priority pick.

Adelaide's head recruiter joined Graham Wright in saying the 2017 draft pool is very good at the top end and very deep. Doubt many will be trading future picks this year.
