Really liked Scharenbergs game. Good size, and a beast around the stoppages. Could compliment Cripps very well.

Yeah Sharenberg would complement Cripps pretty well. Looks like he'd be in the pick 10-20 range ATM.
Dylan Clarke is another one who could be a great partner for Crippa. His also a beast around the stoppages.
Scrimshaw is another one who could be a great fit for us. Love his size 193cm and he moves really well, got a beautiful long left foot on him too.
Venables and Gallucci also both have plenty to like and would fit our needs.
Lovin the midfield talent in this years draft. I'm hoping SOS can wave his magic wand again and get us some picks in the top 25.

The deal for our 1st 2 picks in the draft which would be a pick around 5 or 6 and a late 20s or early 30s pick for Steele, Tomlinson, Marchbank and Stewart is a no brainer if true. For those doubting Steele the giants currently have Shiel, Coniglio, Kelly, Whitfield, Hopper, Greene, Kennedy and Devon Smith all aged 23 or under who play midfield it is impossible to get them all in the same side along with the slightly older ward and scully. We have 1 midfielder on our list Cripps who is in the same bracket as any of these guys age and ability wise, Adding Steele would automatically make him our 2nd best Midfielder under 27 years of age watch him closely next time he plays he will be a star, when he has played he has spent alot of time half forward due to the giants midfield depth at Carlton he would be straight in the middle . Tomlinson would be our best forward and with the way football is trending mobile forwards who run like him are worth their weight it in gold, he is the fittest player on their list which has players like scully and kelly who are aerobic freaks, Marchbank we obviously rate highly and adding him to a backline of wietering, plowman, docherty and byrne all aged under 23 just makes alot of sense. Stewart much like lamb and sumner will get the opportunity and game time at carlton to prove himself he simply wont get at gws he either takes the chance we give him or doesnt, the signs for lamb and sumner have been mostly positive so far. If our list management group pulls this off it will be a major turning point for our club.

Tell me the player and not a number that will make us immediately better.

Cripps needs support no doubt and if we're talking about line breakers, we did draft Cuningham last year and have Boekhorst in the wings.

I keep saying that we here have little idea of what SOS has in mind for not just this year, but next year and the one after that.
That's how you have to think as a list manager and not just bring in one hero at a time. That would take 166 months.

How much are the GWS4 going to cost in terms of salary cap? Tomlinson alone is going to want 450k$
So we tie up some considerable cap space on in between types and one slowish mid, or we take what we really need 4 or 5 mids for a lot cheaper with the potential I believe for greater rewards down the track, I mean are we rebuilding or not?

Look there's pros and cons like with everything.

If pick #6 yields Brodie or McCluggage, #10 yields Venables and #12 SPP Then that's likely going to benefit the team more than the GWS4. If Drew, Sharenberg or Gallucci slip to our second rounder as well we'd be incredibly unlucky if they all bombed out at AFL level.

I just want to know what have the GWS4 shown at AFL level so far? Sure their NEAFL games have been quite good, but at AFL level? They haven't shown much either. They've had their chance to break into the GWS side and they've struggled to do so, so what evidence do we have that they will be able to get us over the line against GWS if we're playing finals in a few years time?

Both Cameron and Patton didn't really devastate us yesterday. The quality of entry i50 that the Giants had rendered our defenders useless because it was too good. Unless Marchbank can dig underground and then pop back up in front of the chest of their leading forwards then there's nothing he could've done either.

Our midfield has no depth and not enough quality either. The only way to stop those sort of entries is to apply pressure on the kicker. The way that they were spreading our mids were completely lost. When Marc Murphy is down we bring in the likes of Graham and Tutt who are clearly not up to it. Kerridge is average as well. Judd and Carrots gone. Murphy constantly getting injured and soon to be in the twilight of his career. Who do we have coming up? What's Steele going to do?

That leaves us with Cripps, Curnow and Gibbs. Ed doing well as a shutdown player. But I saw Shiel bump Gibbs off the ball easily because he is harder at the contest. So with Cripps as our only inside mid capable of winning possession and clearances we are dead set going to get mauled in the middle every week. Even freaking Brisbane were killing us in that department ffs.

Giving away our top 2 picks in a draft filled with midfield talent just seems like the dumbest thing we can do. We've got 2 third round picks which I think we'd be wise to spend on a fb and a ruckman which we can develop. With talent like Docherty, Plowman and Weitering in the backline, the full back does not necessarily need to be a top 10 pick talent, we've got greater needs that we should be addressing with that sort of a draft pick.

Also, we are basing this GWS4 trade on inside info which is not concrete.

You're righr bad santa. We are rebuilding so our primary focus needs to be the draft. And trigg has also stated this many times.

Only way i see this gws4 mark 2 thing happening is if we give up virtually nothing like last year (why would gws do it then) or we trade out player (s) to get picks back in the draft. To most likely completely miss quote the bard, "there in lies the rub." Who do we trade?

Marchbank is very much in our plans. Club has liked him since his draft year and SOS liked him even more.
Word is his GF isn't to keen on a move to NSW.
WHE is a and they rate him very highly. Word is his GF played a big part in his decision to stay(she moved up to NSW)
Steele is also a He and Marchbank would already be worth giving up our first.
If Tomilinson and Ahern are being added we need to give up our 2nd and one of our 3rd rounders.
I like this trade. But would love to get back into the top 20 of the draft somehow.

How do you propose getting 3-4 highly skilled mids in this year's draft? Come pick 30 or so (our second) the points you mentioned in players will be like hens teeth.

To me, Gallucci physically and mentally looks like the finished product already. Don't think there is much upside.

See him being a list clogger at AFL level. Sorta Jimmy Toumpas like.

Just my educated/uneducated opinion.

There is certainly that debate recruiters have about how much development a certain player has. Mitch Farmer who got drafted by Port is a great example of this. Tore it up at junior level, but that was his ceiling.

Yeah I'd add Docherty in there with Cripps and JW. Possibly Plowman. And that's the point. How are we going to beat them with players who can't be in their best 22? Is Steele on the same level as guys like Ward, Cognilio, Shiel etc? No, he isn't. So how would having Steele in our midfield be a threat to them down the track? I want us to beat the Giants in finals, not be better than only 60% of the comp until we bottom out again. We're not going to beat them with a midfield of Cripps, Gibbs, Murphy, Ed, Kerridge, Steele, Tutt and Graham. Not going to happen. We could have the best KPF and KPD in the AFL (apart from other Giants players because they can't play against themselves) and we'd still lose.

Marchbank would be a regular in their best 22 if not injured and getting him would complete our back line, but yes mids are the biggest priority for us.

The only mids I'd be interested in with giving up our first 2 picks would be Shiel, Cognilio etc. and they are NOT going to part with those players. But players who are struggling to cement a spot in the GWS side can't be chased after with our best draft picks.

Like I said, we need to go all out in this draft. There's plenty of midfield talent and it's the area we're lacking in the most. That means giving up something decent to get another top 10 pick. We have to take risks. I would shop Gibbs and Murphy around, I would shop Boekey and next year's first rounder around. Not popular choices but like SOS said last year, you've got to give something to get something. We are rebuilding, that means we should be looking to shop around the older players with value who won't be part of our future plans. Let's not lose sight of that.

What do people think about Jack Graham, looked terrific on Friday as a high production mid? The blues need players with pace who work as we have too many who float in and out of games.

I like him. Gets plenty of contested ball. Knightmare doesn"t rate him that high due to poor footskills. He's tough and a ball magnet, very mature, did u see his TV interview? Very impressive, easy to see why he was chosen as captain. . More Impressed by him than scharenberg IMO.

Wayne Hughes our great recruiter of "duds" used to pick "best available"and look at the terrible lists we had under his watch !!! A club needs to pick for needs or you end up with too many similar players on the list just because of their pecking order in the draft.

Let's not deny it, Dangerfield is producing footy at the moment that is just as good, if not better, than anything we've seen from Judd and Ablett over the journey. He literally does not lose contests.

you obviously forget just how incredible Juddy and Ablett were at their peak !!! Danger is a wonderful player, but not better than those two !!! He lost contests against the saints on the weekend. When he has won two medals like the other two have, then you might say that he is right up there with them !!!

For what is considered a weak draft, there is some serious talent. Just not that real standout like last year.

I don't really like any of the mids that much to have a clear favourite just yet. Powell Pepper probably has the traits I like the most but he can be inconsistent and perhaps a stretch at our early pic. If I had to choose a kid at around pick 6ish I'd go with Ainsworth right now.

Yeah including the academy players there has to be 25-35 really good prospects this year.
