I think Jimmae is being quite generous.

In hindsight we did outstandingly well on Henderson and Yarran so maybe there's a chance with Kreuzer.

I'd rate Menzel well above Casboult, Tuohy or Everitt, so have low expectations on their worth. Some sort of pick downgrade, ala Tom Bell, might be on the cards.

I agree with what your saying. But the Bont wasn't prolific at champs in his draft year.
Did show flashes of talent. Don't think he spent much time on the ball IIRC.
He bolted up the draft boards when he showed he could play as a midfielder in the back half of the year in TAC cup.
Venables and Scrimshaw are both similar in that the flashes they show are like a snap shot of what they could be capable of in the future.
Guess that's why they are seen as risk and reward type prospects.

And he's also overrated

I would trade anyone in the 25-28 group who has currency and whose shown their ceiling isn't premiership caliber

Why else would you retain them?? It's a no brainer IMO

Those are some names I would probably consider before Venables at the moment. Now this may all change with a solid second half of the TAC season.

Yeah that's a pretty good list and I'd agree with almost all of it.
I don't think I saw that game with Bonty in the midfield at champs. I just remember he was getting 10-15 possessions mostly.
Think the Bont grew a little after he was drafted and after champs was around late first round in most peoples eyes.
IIRC he moves into the midfield for Northern Knights in the second half of the year and started blitzing it, which pushed him right up into top 5-10.
Venables is more in the Patracca mould, has more power to his game then grace. When he did go into the midfield for Metro it was more like he was pinch hitting in there, when Metro needed someone to step up.
He did do some clutch things and it will be interesting to see where he plays in TAC cup for the rest of the year.
Scrimshaw is the one who reminds me of the Bont. He played mostly off half back, think it might have been because he was just coming back from a few injuries.
But everything he did around the ground suggests he could play as a tall inside mid in the future.
His hands are very clean in traffic doesn't fumble, moves really well and love his left boot.
I'd go at this stage.

The double edged sword to that is it obliterates the spread. We had a dearth of 20 to 24 year old and addressed that reasonably well with the GWS 4 and Kerridge, if we then obliterare everyone over 25 we rob Peter to play Paul and with Jamo, Walker and Simmo about to leave as well nuke bombing the rest of that half of the ledger exposes us to probably an even longer run down the bottom especially with experience to cover those losses

We can probably get away with shopping Casboult and or Everitt but not much else after that. We do not have any currency otherwise.

There may be options with delisted free agency to fill a need on the cheap as well.

Let's say our 2017 second rounder is around #28 and Pies pick is #6. This places the value of the 4 players at #6 again. So we are basically getting them for two first rounders and a slight downgrade in the first round.

This is the most unlikely scenario and is dependent on GWS being very keen to offload them.

Slight discount to take Stewart off their books... however Steele is fairly highly rated... would they require more points?

Yes, they have enough points to cover their best 2 academy prospects regardless. That was supposed to include Everitt since they tried to trade for him last year.

Offering up next year's first rounder is something we really should try and avoid. Next year's second rounder if clubs are interested in it, I wouldn't mind giving it up if it means gaining that additional top 10 pick for this year.
