Given our likely finish, we should be able to get our hands on one of Brodie, McCluggage, Bowes, Petrevski-Seton and Marshall.
Ainsworth, McGrath and Venebales could be in that mix, but at this stage and from what I've seen, those guys would be my top 5

I know things can and will change but it will be have to be something very special before we release our first selection for a trade.

At this stage:
#1 Brodie: Essendon. Even if they do acquire Prestia, they may be after another quality inside mid.
#2 McCluggage: Brisbane. No reason required.
#3 Marshall: Fremantle. I know they'll be getting McCarthy but should that stop them from taking Marshall? Don't think so.
#4 Bowes: Gold Coast. Possibly because Brisbane may be bold and bid for him beforehand.
#5 Petrevski-Seton: Carlton. Could we possibly pass on him for someone else. Who?

Would be pretty happy with that outcome.
If Ainsworth is there at pick 5... I doubt if SPS would get a look in.

SPS may not dominant a game for long periods at a time and his frame is sligthish and just over 1.80.
But who cares, the lad can do the miraculous with the ball in hand a true playmaker and game changer.
Would a great assest to the Baggers.

Some big performances in the TAC cup on the weekend.
McClaggage 37 possessions 3 goals 2.
Jordan Gallucci 21 possessions 5 goals
Dylan Clarke 36 possessions 9 clearances 6 tackles.
Scrimshaw 27 possessions 9 marks.
Brodie shoulder injuries 2-3 weeks.
Would love any of these kids at Carlton next year.

Yep agree Old Navey, there should be several quality on ballers at pick 4 or 5 and hopefully we uncovere at least one more this time around.
Certainly there may be a bolter nearer to the date too.
As long as we get Crispps some support I'll be very happy.

If we just got Tomlinson and Stewart from GWS for a lower pick I'd be happy without Marchbank and Steele. We currently have 5, 23, 41 and 51. If we managed to keep 5 and 23 we could nab some seriously promising talents.

5: SPS, Marshall, McGrath, Ainsworth, Venables
23: Gallucci, Scharenberg, Graham, Powell Pepper, Taranto, Clarke, Kerr, Rotham

I'm expecting a to go into the draft with 4 live picks and Byrne upgraded and at least two GWS boys. Also have 8-10 outs depending on trades.

Tomlinson and Stewart would allow us to flush out our inconsistent talls for at some younger inconsistent talls AT THE VERY LEAST. If we got them both you'd hope we let Everitt, Walker and Casboult go.

So huge hypothetical a nice trade/draft period for us could be

Casboult + pick 77 to North for their pick 29 and 65
Everitt to Gold Coast for their pick 40
Pick 29 and 40 to GWS for Tomlinson and Stewart

Pick 5: Petrevski Seton
Pick 23: Powell Pepper/Scharenberg (Twomey has him outside the top 20)
Pick 41: Stengle, Pitman, Guelfi, Worpel maybe
Pick 51: Someone, my draft knowledge doesn't go this deep.
Pick 65: Upgrade Byrne
Round 6 pick: Upgrade Sheehan

My ideal scenario
IN: Tomlinson, Stewart, Petrevski-Seton, Scharenberg, Worpel, Stengle, Byrne, Sheehan (maybe a free agent or two)
OUT: Walker, Jamison (retired), Tutt, Whiley, Foster, Smith, Dick (delisted), Everitt, Casboult (traded)

Note: Liam Jones is contracted for 2017.

Cripps, Petrevski-Seton, Scharenberg, Cuningham, Boekhorst, Worpel, Graham would be a great midfield group going forward

SPS with #5 and one of Clarke, Gallucci, Atley, Sharenberg @ ~#25 and it's not looking too bad.

That will change no doubt but wouldn't be unhappy for any of those doubles.................for now. :)

No doubt SPS has plenty of talent.
Heard he had 22 possessions playing colts footy on the weekend.
Be very keen to see him play some senior footy before the end of the year.

Can't see it. This year is premiership or bust, with Harvey, Petrie, Waite, Firrito and Dal Santo all retiring with a successful flag.

Levi leading a rebuild hasn't worked for us, either.

Pick 5: Petrevski Seton - YES
Pick 23: Powell Pepper/Scharenberg - YES
Pick 41: Stengle, Pitman, Guelfi, Worpel maybe - I don't think Worpel is eligible this year, but if he was? - YES
Pick 51: Someone, my draft knowledge doesn't go this deep.
Pick 65: Upgrade Byrne - YES
Round 6 pick: Upgrade Sheehan - YES YES

I like your thinking............but only because it mirrors mine :)

We keep Sheehan and sell off Tuohy, if a pick in the 20's becomes available. No brainer for me.

I'm a big Ainsworth fan, but if I had a choice between him and SPS, i'd take SPS.

I understand Ainsworth has just taken his HBF poster off the wall.

Petrie and Waite on the brink of being too old, McKay and Durdin too young. Maybe they'll back Majak and Brown in but I think it's a good deal for them. Otherwise, we could see if Freo or the Dogs are keen.

I just think NM's second rounder is too high, if they're having second thoughts about their premiership window.

I think Freo's third is more realistic for a bloke who can't kick. They'd kill 2 birds in Sandi and Pav retiring, although they do have a collection of useless forward/ruck types in Hannath, Taberner, Apeness.

If Levi's kicking straightens up after we trade him.........................insert various visions of painful Armageddon here............

We thought exactly the same thing about Yarran though... and for quite a while we would get excited for short periods in games when he got on the ball and made things happen and then he would fade out again... I want someone who is there trying all the time... an improved version of Armfield. And if Ainsworth turns into that... then it can only be good for the club long term!

Worpel isn't available until the 2017 draft.

If we ended up getting pick 29... I would be tempted to hold that and try trading pick 23 and 40 to GWS in the hope of getting Tomlinson, Stewart and Steele.

I don't think that Sheehan is going to be around really... he's talented to buggery, but his body is letting him down at VFL level... we can't even get a good look at him at AFL level to make a proper determination.

I'm guessing that's why we overlooked Wayne Milera last year after trading away Menzel and Yarran.

Don't u mean HBF's taken Ainsworth's poster down off the wall, and replaced it with SPS's poster?

Nope.

But ... never explain.

Maybe, but do you go for a player that can create from any part of the ground or for one that can do it from one part of the ground?

SPS every day for me.

Actually, the description by many on this forum of SPS' attributes and capabilities, reminds me of Cyril Rioli. Now wouldn't that be a great pickup if we happened to pick him, and he turned out to be Cyril v.2

The problem with this sort of player is that they are icing on a cake, not the cake itself. A lot of talented flankers, goal kickers, x factor players stagnate when the bones of a side is a long way from being completed. The one thing SPS can do that Menzel and Yarran couldn't is play in the midfield. He won't help with our contested ball or clearances though.
