Would be a pretty good result.

Giving away top Draft picks for speculative players is not the answer.
Kristian Jaeskh was a perfect example. We could of selected Peter Wright who will be a very good player, and potentially a star.

Dont get me started on the Jaksch trade. I was dead against it from the start, but then it's irrelevant anyway because Rogers would've drafted Boekhorst as a top 10 draft pick.

It's different this time around. Steele is a gun, Ahern just hasn't had a chance to show what he's got, and Marchbank is a solid defensive prospect.

The truth is that we have such a terrible list that we need to make trades like this one just to get our list into acceptable AFL territory. Too many of our players would struggle to get picked up by a VFL club if we delisted them.

If Steele is such a gun why is he spending so much time in their magoos side? The term gun shouldn't be used for him yet, he's a decent player that would be worth a late 2nd rounder. Marchbank has been very injury prone, there's a risk taking him with a first round pick. His contract is up and he wants out. We don't need to offer pick #5. Ahern may never get the chance to show hwat he's got after 2 knee reco's.

Pick #5 for a decent inside mid and 2 injury prone players is a huge risk. I think we should just end up offering a 2017 2nd rounder for Marchbank and leave it at that. Steele is wanted by the Saints, the last thing we need to enter is a bidding war. Ahern will be out for a decent chunk of next year as well now with huge question mark on what level he's going to be able to play at once he gets back. No point chasing him yet.

That all sounds pretty fair. We could also trade Everitt and a later pick to GCS for a late 2nd rounder, they have a heap of them.
We could also trade Touhy for a future first rounder and then on trade that pick to GWS for pick 8 this year.

Very optimistic.

c.f. Tom Bell, 2015. We gave up a similar pick 41 but got back 21 and 60.

Zach may be a better player but 2 1/2 years older at the time of the trade.

........and we have Brodie....or Ainsworth if we go that way.

Two things to fear though:
1. Gil goes feral and hands a priority to Brisbane.
2. Someone sweet-deals with GC and don't nominate Bowes.

The other thing is that the picks can be traded and then we have to think again.
