O.K. so McLuggage goes at #1
Brisbane bids for Bowes but ends up taking McGrath
Freo goes homegrown English or SPS
GC gets Bowes

........and we have Brodie....or Ainsworth if we go that way. :thumbsu:

Two things to fear though:
1. Gil goes feral and hands a priority to Brisbane.
2. Someone sweet-deals with GC and don't nominate Bowes.

The other thing is that the picks can be traded and then we have to think again.
I am very worried about voth of those. I think if Brisbane get a PP then they will take McGrath and Ainsworth. They have several bulky inside midfielders and i dont think they need Brodie. But if someone doesnt nominate Bowes then GCS will take Brodie.
Although on all the other forums, (brisbane, GCS and freo) they keep mentioning Brodie being a flight risk. Fingers crossed that its true.

One thing to keep in mind with Essendon/Brodie is that they requested permission from the AFL for him to play with their VFL side late in the season.

That request was most likely lodged in July, looking at the timing of the article about it, so there's been plenty of time for their thinking to change - but it would certainly seem that he's in the frame for them at Pick 1.

Maybe you could find the next Eddie Betts. ******s.
Richmond are so bad at picking you couldn't even pick the right thread to post in!
The banter thread is that way ---->

I reckon as a result of not getting to look they may go mccluggage instead. They were probably in need of checking him out at VFL level as they're unsure about Brodie and wanted extra time under their own conditions. They probably didn't need to with mccluggage as they already know what they're getting.

I feel like Essendon have their McCluggage in Merrett and Fantasia. They don't have their Watson replacement though.

Good point.

Which player from the draft pool looks the most likely to cheat his way to a brownlow, then astonishingly not hand it back?

Nic Nextgen via Footy Prophet has released an early PD - not a bad go if you ask me! Rationale is fair, which makes me excited something like this could happen. We. Cannot. Trade. Pick. 5.

1: ESSENDON – HUGH MCCLUGGAGE
2: GOLD COAST – JACK BOWES (FOLLOWING BRISBANE BID)
3: BRISBANE – BEN AINSWORTH
4: FREMANTLE – TIM ENGLISH

5: CARLTON – WILL BRODIE
6: GWS – WILL SETTERFIELD (FOLLOWING RICHMOND BID)
7:RICHMOND – ANDREW MCGRATH
8: GOLD COAST – SAM PETREVSKI-SETON

This article has Logue as number 12 for the saints! First time I've seen someone talk him up for top 20

I did see this. This would only happen if Brisbane bid on bowes and if Richmond dont trade pick 6 to GCS.
Bowes would be worth 2,013 points.
Which would mean GCS could use,
- Pick 4 - 2,034 points
- Pick 8 and 27 - 2,254 points
- Pick 21, 22 and 40 - 2,152 points
(If they get pick 6)
- Pick 6 and 40 - 2,180 points

But because they have a few Academy players in the draft, i hope the use pick 4 on bowes allowing Carlton to get Brodie at pick 5.

English is still a risk at such a high pick given he has no experience outside of the ruck role.

Also the average WAFL ruck (at all levels) is about 197 cms, so it's really a question of is his craft good enough despite concerns over his leap. Say what you want about Kreuzer but he will graft goals from midfield and can definitely ruck regardless of reach advantage. English seems to struggle, but his mobility and skills are exciting outside of his stoppage duties.

On balance you'd still be happy to have him as a ruck, but with more effective midfielders on the board it doesn't make sense unless you're confident of turning him into a consistent lead-up target when you have the football.

There's mention of him playing as an on baller prior to a Paddy Cripps-esque growth spurt which will appeal seeing as rucks with midfield/roving capabilities are all the rage.

Would be crazy to see SPS fall that far.

Would he be in the frame for us or is he a flight risk?
Crazy how this term has come to be used in this context

"Carlton authorities have refused the Western Australian bail as he is considered a flight risk"
