McGrath's continued form has convinced me. Pace, ball getting, half back, inside mid, outside mid, leadership.

Problem is his continued form probably takes him out of reach.

Brodie, McGrath, McCluggage top 3. Ainsworth and SPS next. If Lions get a PP and nobody in the top 3 bids on Bowes, we are into the next range which could be fairly even for the first round.

Sort of takes away the advantage of a top 5 pick.

I actually think Ainsworth will slide pretty far. I reckon, Ess will take Brodie, Brisbane will bid on Bowes and then select McGrath, Freo should take McGluggage, Then we'll probably take either Marshall if SOS decides to go tall again or we finally decide to fix our midfield and select SPS. Richmond will bid on Setterfield then select Marshall if we didnt or SPS, then maybe GC might go Will Drew, with the loss of both Prestia and JOM they'd probably wanna stock on midfielders.

Reckon Ainsworth would be a perfect fit at Brissie and Brodie and McGrath will be there at 5. Just hope the AFL don't give Bris a PP.

I reckon they will give Brisbane a PP, just from how Gill spoke about their situation. I am pretty sure it will be at the end of the first round though, there would be a huge uproar if they gave them pick 3.

Agree i always thought Priority Picks are given at the end of round 1? - so Brisbane's PP would be pick 19

Just cannot believe how they can justify it when it's their own fault through development, coaching and playing that they're in this position. Hell, they didn't even get the spoon in 2015 OR 2016. We also got beaten by them AND Dons (18th) this year but they don't see us asking for one...

Will be pissed it they do - even at 19. Get a good coach, change the culture (can be done, see: Carlton 2016) and it will turn around.

If that does happen, there's still Scrimshaw.

We just don't rate Ainsworth that high and wouldn't want to risk pick 5 on him.
I'd hope GC don't get to pick ahead of us twice at this stage. :P

The other thing is that they may want to help Brisbane but they won't want to do that at GC's expense. They won't want to push GC's pick back a spot and give Brisbane 2 chances to bid on Bowes.

The write ups for the favourites are nothing special either. If Carlton are considering using #5 in a trade and getting a top 10 pick back, it may be our target is a midfielder not expected to go top 5.

Has anyone watched Tarantos games on a regular basis? What is his field kicking like? I've only seen a short you tube clip and didn't like the look of his disposal by foot. Had visions of Carrazzo

If Brisbane are given a PP, it will not be Pick #3.

It will be end of first round, so Pick #19.

The days of getting top 5 PP's are well and truly over.

I'm just wondering what case the Lions could possibly make? "We're the worst team in the past couple of years despite the fact we haven't finished last on the ladder"

I think the fact they haven't made finals for a long time would be their best argument. But it has to be put down to their own poor development and list management.

And if they do end up with a PP, then surely next year we should qualify for one if we finish bottom 4 again.

Pulling names out a hat

Why do you say that?

Scrimshaw showed plenty and it's easy to project a strong upside in his game.

Taranto could also appeal as a top 10 pick, whilst Logue also has enough attributes that stand out that someone could get him top 15.

Not so much their names but I guess the order more so, Id be wrapped if we got Scrimshaw and this is only a rankings I spose, everyone's would be different. Just don't rate Anderson that highly I guess

O.K. Got you.

We'll still put up what gets pasted in the media, even though some here would do every bit as good a job.................better job, actually.

Brett Anderson has really changed things up:

Scrimshaw @ 4
Brodie @ 6
Taranto @ 7
SPS @ 10
Logue @ 12

Interesting?....maybe.

Scrimshaw has always had the potential to really rocket up the draft boards. He would appeal to so many clubs as all clubs are looking for the next 190+cm midfielder.
I wouldn't be surprised if SOS took him at pick 5. The Clugg Brodie McGrath and Anisworth are the only players I'd take ahead of him.
SPS is the one who has really drifted, at the start of the year he was a lock for top 5. He does seem to have coasted through the year, may be he feels he's done enough in his bottom age year.
Taranto is getting a lot of hype after he's final's series, but I'm not really sold on him. He does have some good attributes but he isn't quick, foot skills aren't the best and not really a contested beast either.
Just seems a bit limited IMO, more of a half forward then a midfielder.
