Yeah it absolutely would be a good idea.

Every champion side is built around two or three drafts. You simply dont build a champion side by trying to hit one player every year. It doesnt work.

We should be doing EVERYTHING we can to make 2015 and 2016 our two champion drafts in my opinion.

And Ben in 2018 makes that even better. Our 2018 1st simply must be traded out for a 2018 2nd and a player or some other benefit in 2017.

No matter how good Ben is, even if hes bid on top 3, we'll be able to get him, even if it costs us out 2nd, another 2nd and our third. It doesnt matter if in 2018 we only take Ben (possible top 10 prospect) and two picks in the 40's. Because by then, hopefully we will have taken 4xTop 20 picks in 2015, hopefully similar numbers in this years draft and maybe 2xTop 20 picks in 2017. Then add ben. That's 9-11 top 20 picks in four years. Add Cripps, Docherty, Marchbank, Plowman, Sumner, etc to that list, Tom Mitchell maybe... that's a champion team.

Sounds pretty good. But how do we bring in 3-4 top 20 picks in this year's draft as well as Mitchell and Marchbank?

I know Trigg's endorsement of the two younger Silvagni boys is exciting but how do we know for sure what Ben will cost us, will our first round pick fall before the bid comes and hasn't the loophole for how you acquire your draft points been closed? Is Oskar Manton a chance? There's plenty of water to go under the bridge yet before we can decide what happens with 2018's first rounder.

What is Ben doing right now to make us think he's a genuine top 5 chance in 24 months?
Word of mouth because he looks flashy at school footy level? SOS has been putting them in cotton wool for the few years leading up to their draft year, that's all I know.

Google tells me he's playing school footy next year again.

I hope he doesn't grow too much more. I know it sounds strange but when you head towards 200cm + you start to lose mobility.

I just hope we take doggies lead and pick players in the draft that have some ticker and are footballers. No rubbish trades for 2nd stringers, you can find these type of young players in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the draft. Dogs and Swans have proven this time again. Not all midfielders need to be athletic and 6'3. Geez, players like picken, smith, McLean , hunter, Dahlhaus , Daniel . Give me a few of those types in the draft and I'll be happy

With hearing like that we must pick him!

Seriously though, McGrath has been very impressive too.
Nice player isnt he getting plenty of it in this quarter mcgrath but after seeing taranto id prefer him think he would suit us better if brodie is gone .

Andrew McGrath wins BOG medal.
Top 2 for me.......and for Brisbane.....and GWS

Really came into his own from half-way through the year and his numbers have been phenomenal....along with his leadership.
Just too hard to resist. Ready to go quality player.
