And added to that he was the spiritual and off field leader of our greatest ever team. That 79 to 82 team.
Which in those days meant he got ripped and revved up the boys in the post-match celebrations?

I dont think too much about what McClure has said is inaccurate. He went hard on Malthouse early and was proven right.. He went for Ratten who clearly had some flaws in his game day coaching. Would much rather have someone like McClure representing us in the media who isnt afraid to speak up when things are going badly than have someone like Kevin Bartlett who just pretends everything is roses.

Look at those midfields;

O'Loughlin
Brodie, Clarke, Drew, Petrevski-Seton, Scharenberg, Setterfield with English rucking.
Judd
Bowes, McLuggage, Perryman, Powell-Pepper, Taranto, McGrath, Ainsworth

This is definitely a midfielders draft.
FYI, have you seen much of Petrevski-Seton and how do you rate him? Going by his highlights, he seems to have huge potential.

Absolutely has huge potential, is the most skilled user of the ball in the draft and plays a nice mix of inside and out. Would be a perfect fit for us if McLuggage, Brodie and McGrath are gone. He's the closest to a Gary Ablett/Cotchin/Murphy type midfielder in this draft.

Can do it all. But does he do enough?

Is that supposed to be a put down?

Mark Maclure is a titan of our Club.
Agree, he gives it to you between the eyes, but being that hard edged uncompromising player he was that led from the front, especially being part of a successful era that was all about arrogance, premierships or bust attitude, what would you expect after seeing the club he loves go from being feared and highly respected to a club run into the ground and vying for spoons. His media performances mirror his playing and in no way does he get any satisfaction taking aim at Carlton.

Just watched the TAC Cup GF now and I had Scrimshaw BOG. Florent had a great game too and his stocks would've rised a bit.

On Scrimshaw, if he has another good game in the Judd Micky O game you'd have to seriously consider him at pick 5 over a Will Brodie.

McGrath and Taranto were a little disappointing in the midfield for me but fair effort to still put up big numbers.

Brodie showed that contested ball winners will always have an impact and he'd be a solid addition to most midfields, you can see why he'd slide but in the first couple of years there'll be some nervous recruiters who didn't take him.

Lyons had another good game, would be a nice pick up late in the draft.

Spargo and the young ruckman McLean looked good for underagers.

Yep, agree with this. I thought Scrimshaw had a very impressive game. Was a bit flat early on in the third quarter but he picked up again about half way through.

Seems to be a bit like the Bont. We did also mention picking up hybrid mid types so we may just grab him...

I worry Scrimshaw isn't a mid proper, so much as a very talented flanker. His contested work has yet to impress me, although he moves well in packs.

I haven't seen anything which convinces me he is a mid so much as I am convinced he can rack up touches and impact the contest around the ground.

Edit: Yes I know this sounds confused. Basically I don't think he has shown he can win his own ball. I think he is great with ball in hand.

doesnt concern me at all. definitely more outside but put his head over the ball and didn't shirk a contest. imo will thrive in an afl system. gun

cripps out to scrimshaw who drives it 60 to silvagni. hmmmm :)

I say we keep the 2017 first at all costs.

We will be bottom 4 next year and the knives will come out from the media after every bad loss.

But next year I'd be open to trading our 2018 first pick for an early 2017 pick. Taking 2 elite talents in 2017.

Hopefully Ben Silvagni is a top 5 prospect in the 2018 draft, so the loss of our first rounder won't hurt us.

got to keep first round picks unless unbelievably good deals. we need elite talent and this gives us the best chance. sos has shown he can get us handy role players. its the top end talent we need.

if we keep pick 5, get a top 20 pick for tuohy and if gibbs does go for a first rounder and a player (lyons?) then we have a good chance of bringing in 3 very good young players (plus a few more picks). add that to marchbank stewart and a couple more handy players like matera pickett green and we are building nicely.

hmmmmmm....Scrimshaw.....is he Bontempelli......or more Cale Morton...
Probably somewhere in between obviously.
Can't have him Top 5 or 6 for mine though.

He and Venables are the most intriguing for me, right now.

Where would you have him TW and why?

Eagles father son- he's son of drew
Same name, but no. Drew's son (also Bailey) is about 13, I believe.

This may have been mentioned a few times when searching about the draft eligible Bailey. :P
