Yeah it is interesting. Kerr has heritage with the club so it will be a tough call.
Kerr hasnt had much of it but looks a good mover hes faster than i thought and pretty sure overhead be a tossup between him and battle if we were looking at a tall forward .

Movers so far in my opinion

McLuggage [UP]
Bowes [UP]
Taranto [UP]
Powell-Pepper [UP]

Scrimshaw [EVEN]
SPS [EVEN]

McGrath [DOWN]
Florent & Bolton UP too surely.

Knock on Florent is that he doesn't get a heap of the ball, yet he's had a tonne of it today. Most possies on the ground I'd think

Yep, Bolton too, havent seen much of Florent, have been watching in class with the sound off and he hasnt stood out to me.

Taranto has really improved dramatically since champs. Must admit I wasn't a fan, but his last month has been outstanding. He's field kicking is ok, but he's finishing around goals is exceptional.
Was really surprised to see he was the 5th highest contested ball winning play in the TAC this year.
Would have to be in consideration for pick 5.

Taranto really put his name in lights. Scrimshaw would've been even better higher up the ground. Kerr looked better higher up the ground and Sproule will surely get a higher bid now too.

Bowes looks the best of the pure midfielders. Inside winning ability and a good kick with composure in traffic. Shame we didn't get to see Brodie and Setterfield while Simpkin is another highly rated mid we can't see.

The Suitcase is going to be an absolute star. I hope the Dopers trade the #1 pick because I would hate to see such a good player end up at the Injection Centre.
I think Taranto has huge upside. I wouldn't be too disappointed if we took him with pick 5.
Ainsworth will be a good AFL player, but I think his skills are a bit inconsistent.
I've seen a bit of Kerr & I worry a bit about his intensity. Not sure that we would want to use a 2nd round pick on him. If he was still available in the 3rd round, then you would have a look.
Plenty to like about Bolton, but i suspect he would polarise supporters. Very exciting player though.
Bring on the trade period & then the draft.

There is something about the S.A. kid Will Haywood.

The jungle drums have been quietly beating that he has something special about him.

He does.

Some players you watch dominate at junior level and think he'll be meh at AFL level. Gallucci and Clarke for eg have been like that for me.

Then there are some you see star now and then, drift in and out now and then, but you think they'll thrive at AFL level. Haywood and Venables for eg have been like that for me.

Drafting is an inexact science, like yearling sales, but gems like Fyfe, Gray etc showed glimpses of real talent early. Albeit it while not dominating.

Taranto starred at the Champs. Had easily the most score involvements. Just had a lower profile at the time.

Sproule, Battle and Kerr look good as KPP options in the second round.
Taranto completely changed my opinion of him. Would be happy at pick 5.
SPS and McCluggage all class.
Florent and Powell-Pepper are solid tryers but not convinced.
Bolton is exciting.

Yeah, i agree about Kerr a bit. Every time i see him i see a bit of Spalding about him.

Not Earl Spalding, Caddyshack Spalding.

Personal Ratings After the All-Star Game

TOP 10
1. McLuggage (UP)
2. Bowes (UP) A
3. McGrath (DOWN)
4. Brodie (EVEN)
5. Petrevski-Seton (EVEN)
6. Scrimshaw (EVEN)
7. Taranto (UP)
8. Ainsworth (DOWN)
9. Perryan (EVEN) A
10. Setterfield (EVEN) A

I really want two picks inside this top 10. So with the 3 Academy players in there, that's two picks in the top #7. Trade 2017 1st to GWS or GC for pick #6 or #7 please (with another late 2nd coming our way as well, and a nod we won't bid on their Academy player).

Tough decision indeed. We really can't lose with this pick unless, we trade pick 5 then I'd be very disenchanted with the Carlton football club.
Well you've just said it yourself. There's now 8 potentially elite midfielder types. GWS will take Setterfield too so you could get a Brodie or Ainsworth with pick 9

Shai Bolton would have moved into contention I think.

I didn't see todays game but I doubt it would have held too much weight in recruiters thoughts.
There was little to gain here from the top players, yet by the sounds of things, the guys you expected to show up, did.

The top seven or eight are very appealing aren't they?
Not sure why GWS don't want to deal with Brisbane rather than Essendon, in order to get McGrath?
Essendon won't take him anyway.........I don't think.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We have been discussing this coming draft ad nauseum for months now with some people proclaiming that we need to be bold and take a massive chance on things. I've been one of those who originally advocated keeping our 2017 draft pick and in fact trying to get more first round picks for next year... but no longer. After watching the game today, I honestly believe that if we don't trade our first round pick for next year, we are going to miss out on someone special this year.

So I propose that we trade our 2017 first round pick for the GWS Collingwood pick or the pick 6 from GC17 (If Bitchmond trade it to the Suns for Prestia)... or we could even try and trade for pick 4 from GC.

McLuggage is definitely going to be going pick 1 this year unless GWS can manage to trade with Essendon to get pick 1... in which case it will be McGrath (who was quiet today I feel). If the trade isn't made, then I reckon that Brisbane will be bidding on Bowes... relations with GC17 be damned, and then they will take McGrath (McLuggage, if McGrath has gone to GWS). Freo will be going for either English or SPS. If Bowes hasn't been bid on at this time, I reckon that GC17 will take Taranto or Brodie.

I honestly think, now, that if we can trade our 2017 first round pick for either pick 6 or pick 7 this year... we will walk away from the draft with 2 mids who will be elite in a couple of years.

Then we need to get a couple more second round picks and keep one of our third round picks for Kerr. I reckon that he will slide to us in the third round. Trade Tuohy to Shitney for their first round pick and use that in the trade to GWS for Marchbank and steak knives.

Could you imagine our midfield in 2 years time if we managed to get Brodie, Taranto in the first round and Shai Bolton in the second and picked up Steele or Lyons as a trade?
