I don't watch the U18's but have read a lot on here. Can I ask is McCluggage just so good that he stands out but the others behind are still seriously good players. Or is he the best but the others drop away?
You definitely should of watched today's game then. I was in a similar position before.

I think mccluggage is a goal kicking midfielder like Robbie gray. There are others with different skill sets that are different and better than his. But, he is probably a player you can guarantee will become a superstar.

Taranto isn't far behind and with today's performance they have very similar attributes.

McGrath didn't play amazingly but was due a quiet one after an amazing final in the TAC cup.

Bowes has to get a bid at 2-3 (most likely brisbane as their local rival). We will have to bid at 5 if not costing them their next one anyway.

SPS Stood out as did shai Bolton so they're bound to rise up a few boards. Ainsworth, battle also stepped up from recent performances. They have heaps of upside.

He stands out. Just gets too many goals from midfield for it to be lucky.

McLuggage and Bowes the clear top 2 for mine, McGrath, Brodie and SPS all have a few more question marks about them but will all be guns. Scrimshaw, Taranto, Ainsworth etc are being selected on projections of what they can do, but they project well.

You could pick a great player imo from 1-25 odd i reckon. But on a needs basis we will have lots to choose from. I'd be happy to get Taranto, Brodie, scrimshaw or SPS with our first.

Brodie didn't play today and might fall due to a few others having big games today.

Judd likes him too.:)

Reckon we can start putting names to club selections after the trade period.

Essendon, Brisbane & Fremantle will be looking at multi-deals for their higher selections.
It's going to be a crazy trade period before we can start looking at the draft seriously.

What makes you think this? Not criticising, just asking.
Just a feeling based on what I have seen on him and on discussions with others who also think that he might slide to the third round.

Assuming the Clugg, Bowes and McGrath are gone, I still want Ainsworth at 5. Will transition into an explosive inside mid over time and in the meantime will be a game changing small forward who will make an impact from round 1 next season. Lots of Robbie Gray / Paul Chapman about him. Lots of upside.

Florent was judged the best player from the O'Loughlin side, which was coached by Tadhg Kennelly, after gathering 29 disposals and seven clearances.

So we still wouldn't want Florent with our second? :)

I just feel that his game will translate very well into the AFL.
No idea of the character but he does have some nice moves and backs himself at every call.
Good vision and spacial awareness could see him as a real fire-starter.

I was very impressed with Florent, got 29 possessions, and used them well. Positioned himself well, and continually pumped the ball forward in a losing side. Provided a lot of run and carry, and looks like a nice prospect. just don't know what player was on him, who may have had a bad day for him to play that well. Where do you think he will go in the draft, 1st or 2nd roiunder?.

Best guess would be somewhere around the pick #20 and may possibly be there at our pick #23
Who knows how he interviews though and even though he's not the toughest of players, he gets around pretty well and seems to be really sharp of mind.

There's some pretty good talent particularly through the first tier players (McCluggage, Brodie etc) but the second tier may also pull some quality from it.

Spot on about Florent's vision and awareness, a real stand out today.

You wouldn't be surprised to see a club reach for him if they're after a quality Victorian mid. I'm expecting Twomey to have him top 15 in the next phantom form guide.

Would love him with our 2nd round.

Powell-Pepper impressed me,I didn't see the poor kicking or lack of composure. He could be one for 2nd rounder.

Anyone know why these expected top 30 players missed the all stars game today?
Z.Fisher
D.Venables
J.Graham
K.Mutch
B.Scheer
J.Allison
H.Macreadie
W. Brodie

Would have been nice to see how they went under the microscope of all the club recruiters?

Venables, Brodie & Sheer are injured. Not sure of the others though.

Would have been good to see Fisher. Don't mind the look of him, either.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We have been discussing this coming draft ad nauseum for months now with some people proclaiming that we need to be bold and take a massive chance on things. I've been one of those who originally advocated keeping our 2017 draft pick and in fact trying to get more first round picks for next year... but no longer. After watching the game today, I honestly believe that if we don't trade our first round pick for next year, we are going to miss out on someone special this year.

So I propose that we trade our 2017 first round pick for the GWS Collingwood pick or the pick 6 from GC17 (If Bitchmond trade it to the Suns for Prestia)... or we could even try and trade for pick 4 from GC.

McLuggage is definitely going to be going pick 1 this year unless GWS can manage to trade with Essendon to get pick 1... in which case it will be McGrath (who was quiet today I feel). If the trade isn't made, then I reckon that Brisbane will be bidding on Bowes... relations with GC17 be damned, and then they will take McGrath (McLuggage, if McGrath has gone to GWS). Freo will be going for either English or SPS. If Bowes hasn't been bid on at this time, I reckon that GC17 will take Taranto or Brodie.

I honestly think, now, that if we can trade our 2017 first round pick for either pick 6 or pick 7 this year... we will walk away from the draft with 2 mids who will be elite in a couple of years.

Then we need to get a couple more second round picks and keep one of our third round picks for Kerr. I reckon that he will slide to us in the third round. Trade Tuohy to Shitney for their first round pick and use that in the trade to GWS for Marchbank and steak knives.

Could you imagine our midfield in 2 years time if we managed to get Brodie, Taranto in the first round and Shai Bolton in the second and picked up Steele or Lyons as a trade?
Havent seen english before today thought he was very ordinary but could have just had a down game . Would be very surprised if he went that early in the draft ? . If your scenario came to pass id take 1 of taranto or brodie and scrimshaw he is a gem . Bold thinking but if it netted 2 of those 3 players probably worth it :thumbsu:

Taranto's bouffant serves him well. He looks as tall as Baldy in that photo....but then you look at how their shoulder height matches up.
Judd's shoulder is also higher than Kerrs who's taller than Judd, because Judd is lifting his arms.

Taranto is listed as 186cm which is only 3cm shorter than Judd.
