RE: Levi, maybe we could have got a pick in the range of 18-25 last year if we'd offered him up, maybe. Then this year happened.

I'm sure Levi will be played up the ground now, wouldn't be surprised if he sees a lot of ruck time around the grounds chopping out kreuzer. Just keep him the hell away from those point/outonthefull posts.

Need another quality midfielder. Half a dozen decent forwards, built around a key position forward.

We need to trade Casboult for a first round draft pick or another player.

Still not sure if bringing in the youth is the right option. In maybe 4 or 5 years the core group of draft picks (Wietering, Cripps, Silvangi, Boakhurst, McKay)might have grown into decent players, but that's still a lot of years down the drain (and traditionally Carlton fans aren't very patient). We don't know if these young kids are going to be quality stars, I wonder if this was yet another mistake when we could of been trading older players for quality stars. At least we would have some talent in the foreseeable future.

He can't even kick a goal from 20 metres out. He proberly isn't worth a first round draft pick, but we should be pushing harder to get something.
I like your enthusiasm but Levi's trade value is more like 3rd round plus.

Mind you I think there was a Geelong poster wanting our #5 plus Tuohy for Motlop. Maybe we could swap Levi for Motlop, and they could throw in a sweetener like Kersten. :D

Something to note is that pick 24 is effectively the difference between pick 5 and pick 16 on points, thus the proposed GWS trade is about facilitating their want to make a selection ahead of their expected bid points.

This tells us SOS doesn't rate all bar one of SPS, Brodie, Taranto, English, Scrimshaw or Ainsworth versus maintaining another pick in the top 25.

Logue being talked about as a possible top ten now.
All those 'outsiders' I liked, are not outsiders any more. :)
There'd have to be a club pretty desperate for talls. He can run and accumulate but he's not agile and he's not a midfielder/creative type.

Big difference between him versus Berry, Allison and Scrimshaw.

Logue did amass 30 odd possessions recently while running through the midfield

Yeah but anyone who's seen him play knows he's not going to shimmy his way out of traffic. His ability through the midfield is largely in terms of outside run, which is fine, just means you're using him off CHF or CHB.

No idea why anyone would grab him in the top 15 though,; Kieran Collins without the puppy fat.

You want to keep Casboult then do you? He can't even kick a goal from 20 metres out. He proberly isn't worth a first round draft pick, but we should be pushing harder to get something. The main reason we are where we are is from poor recruiting in the last few years. Did you read the rest of my comments, there is no guarantee that these kids will be any good, I may we wrong, I just hope these rebuild years are not wasted years.
I have no problem with your comment of trading Casboult, and I don't feel strongly about it either way. But the fact that you think we can even get close to a first round pick for Levi is, well, as the old saying goes: "You're Dreaming"

GWS get 3 off Freo for 7, McCarthy and a bit more. GC get 2 plus Hanley(for eg) off Brisbane for 4 and 8. And 6 for Prestia and knives. All are reported tonight by E.Quayle as likely.

Therefore, wouldn't this draft scenario put the wind up the Vic clubs:

Nudge nudges: GWS won't bid on Bowes if GC skip McGrath

1. ESS McCluggage
2. GC Brodie
3. GWS McGrath
4. BL SPS
5. GWS Ainsworth
6. GC Taranto
7. GC Bowes (bid by Freo)
8. Freo English
9. GWS Setterfield
10. BL Scrimshaw
11. GWS Perryman (bid by Port)

He is more versatile than Collins, he has already played seniors and more than held his own. His aggression is also a trait that is of interest, let alone his athletic prowess. Would be surprised if he wasn't taken as the first KPP before end of the first roun

Haven't followed the draft too closely, but I'm a romantic when it comes to football, so I want Kerr. Where's he expected to go?

The GC/Bris trade rates Hanley at 16; not sure that's a fair deal. Suspect that GC will give them something like #28 for #21, or #25 for #19 as well. That rates him at 22.

Others have pointed out it makes more sense for Freo to trade further down, say 15, 32, 34 and McCarthy for 3 and 40. That opens up the ability for them to trade for Hill. Depends on how much they like English.

Another is 15, 16 and McCarthy.

OK, but is he damaging with the footy in hand? Can he set up attacks, or just snag a goal out the back.

What kind of draft range would you think for Florent? He would have risen a bit at the end of the year, especially with his game in the All stars. Maybe an option if we do get our hands on 15/16?
I think he'll be there, it's just a question of if we want a player who doesn't really rack up disposals with a pick in that range when there's guys like Gallucci and Bolton around that mark.

actually lets scrap the draft & go back to zones.

Could you image a more aggressive version of say a Fyfe? Not sure whether he can reach that level, but at worst he will be a 10 KPD, that can play on talls and smalls

Worth a pick 12 to 16

I think you're exaggerating on two fronts there. He's a tall that can play on medium types with his pace. Not very agile, thus would suffer in an inside midfield role.
