It seems like SPS is the trendy pick 5 for now. I would be disappointed if we went down that route, although I think he is a talented footballer. I am firmly of the belief that you hit the draft with your needs in mind. We just traded in Pickett to play virtually the same role as SPS. What are we lacking? Ready to go midfielders to replace Murphy and Gibbs in coming years. Brodie or Taranto for me. Let's get some reliable guns first to fill gaping midfield gaps
I'm firmly of the opinion that you hit the draft with your 'wants' in mind; needs are hard to keep track of because they are constantly in a state of flux. If you draft who you simply like as players and not have a meltdown regarding how you fit them in the side tomorrow then you find you have fewer needs. This is partly because you are not restricting the talent pool by overlooking players you don't think you can use in the short term. It also means that you have less chance to build up a false picture of a player just because you are desperate to fill a need.
Having said that, I'd prefer a bigger midfielder but that's not a need, that's a want. .
