Like the post, thanks for the heads up on him, think I subconsciously passed him over because of his brother, really liked the highlights reel....pretty good write up from the Age Combine Harvester FWIW

"Joe's a great role model, captain and the clear choice of our group of boys when we selected our leadership group at the start of the year. We had six criteria and Joe was the only person to poll votes in every category from every other kid. He has a massive work ethic, to the point where we sometimes have to pull him back a bit. His great strength is his ball-winning ability and contested play, that's his natural game. He has some good speed, but he's been used more as a contested player. One thing he wanted to work on at the start of the year was his handball to kick ratio – because he wins so much footy on the inside he's tended to handball more than kick, but his improvement in that area has been quite significant in the second half of the year."

Stephen Sharp, Bendigo talent manager

This is exactly what we want - More self-starters, who are proactive and fiercely determined. The club were saying similar things of Cripps after his first pre-season.

I really rate Atley, think he is a slight reach at 25, but hope he is around at 48, but doubt it

He's every chance to be there in that range. This is the time of year where previously overlooked TAC players come into the fold and clubs start picking on potential and finishing form. Cuningham, for example, rose up the ranks after a big end to the year.

My only concern is we'll have already have locked in a couple of inside mids in Taranto and someone like Clarke at that pick. It certainly is the perfect draft to take a heap of midfielders and having six picks allows us to balance our needs effectively.

Best case in this scenario would have Lions bidding on Bowes.

1. ESS - McGrath
2. GWS - Ainsworth
3. GC - Bowes (Bris bid)
4. GWS - Setterfield (Carlton bid for the fun of it)
5. CAR - McLuggage

After Trump's win, anything could happen.

You're missing Brisbane's pick...which would be McLugggage.

Anybody else see a little bit of robbie gray in ainsworth? Dunno just see him being a mid later in his career especially with his kicking and decision making ability... Would love Drew with our second pick, the kid looks like a player, Taranto, Drew, Atley would be unbelievable!!!

Knightmare had us taking Taranto which i would be very happy with... but he also had Brodie sliding to 14. Kinda makes me wish we got rid of Bryce so we could pick up Brodie at 13..
That phantom looks pretty terrible. Apparently Adelaide will opt for Venables over Brodie, and Sydney will take Luke Ryan at pick 19.

There's no chance Atley will be there at 48. None.

Two pages before this discussion, I linked this video of Atley: http://bpmultihlsvod5257.ngcdn.tels...-10-18_10-32-28-6390/output_2400kbps_720p.mp4

There's every chance he could be gone before #25; complete mid.

Atley is someone I don't mind the look of at all. Predominantly an inside mid but does look to have traits which could see him develop into a hybrid at AFL level.

Not sure he'll be considered at our second pick but consensus seems to have him going somewhere between our second and third picks.

Could well be an option at our 3rd pick.

There weren't too many that didn't have Mathieson in the top twenty, this time last year....................#39

Not saying this about Atley, but projecting poorly at interviews can hurt you.
I had Mathieson in the mix, but I was being too optimistic about his disposal. The reason why he slid even further than where he should have gone was because no one liked his ducking technique.

Sydney @ 19, Geelong @ 24; Brisbane in between. All a chance, Essendon too. It just depends how many talls are grabbed at, and how many bids go off.

Didn't show a heap of progression between his form as an under-ager and his draft year form. He's a pretty blunt player too - aggressive, a good accumulator and above average inside skills but his scope for development is still pretty minimal. He might be an effective 4th or 5th mid but I can't see him becoming any better.

Mathieson or Atley?

If Atley, you're just making this stuff up. It's insane how little mention he gets simply because he doesn't tear down the wing with no opponent. Go look at the tape.

Ainsworth ironically reminds me of Zorko, rather than Gray

What's people's thoughts on Tom Williamson?

188cm, 79kg, December born, quick, has endurance, left footer who makes good decisions from what I've seen but haven't really read much about him and Brett Anderson doesn't have him in the top 50 in his power rankings from what I've seen. Knightmare rates him at around 35 but other phantoms don't seem to mention him.

He did well at the combine in agility, beep, 3km, kicking, standing and running vertical jump. I would love him at 25, would definitely fill a need for us and could see him on the wing long term. I rate him around 20-25 but maybe I'm missing something about him so seeing if some of the experts know much about him.

I'm with you in really liking Tom Williamson. Picked him at 38 for the Cats in our Phantom Draft.

Wouldn't be against him being in the mix for us at 25. Wouldn't be able to read his name out quick enough if by slight chance he got to 48.

At his size, he is not quick or overly creative, and showed pretty average endurance at the Combine.

To my mind, he will be ineffective at AFL level and wouldn't draft him with our first 3 picks.
But he can find it inside/outside, rack it up and use it.

Always look at the footballer before the physical specimen.

So can Nick Graham.....at the level below AFL.

Fisher is not elite like Caleb Daniel. Sure, he could be that diamond in the rough like Lachie Neale. But at Zac Fisher's build and athletic profile, at AFL level, it is needle in a haystack stuff imo. 12.7 beep test.

I can't see Fisher being able to survive at AFL level to a high probability. Just my opinion.

If GWS lose a couple of picks they might be forced to use 2 on Setterfield to get the other academy players.
There is absolutely zero chance of that happening. They will get the top end talent whilst they can, there is likely going to be changes to their zone (hopefully that ridiculous zone of theirs will be significantly smaller). If they use pick 2 on Setterfield they will miss out on the 20% academy discount as well as Mcgrath/Ainsworth. They would be absolutely crazy to do that since they don't need to.

Hi ericpascoe, I would really appreciate yr insights and updated probable selections for the draft.
Have things changed much since yr last message.
Hanging for fresher updates.
Thanks
