It's hardly a tin foil hat scenario to not see something in a player that others do. I happen to think all the 'he'll leave the club as soon as his contract is up' talk is just a way to deal with not knowing what to make of a player who hasn't quite come on the way people thought he might.

It's more just that lingering fear. Once he becomes a Carlton player, the dynamics change completely.

I hope the club does it's due diligence, like it has with Weitering, and looks to sign him up long term; provided he has shown the kind of form that warrants it.

In regards to Mids yep and look at Bonts and Cripps as they monster opponents.

In the last 20 years how many Mids drafted in the Top 10 have been under 6ft and then gone on to have respectable careers and play over 100 games for the club that drafted them??

You could count them on 1 hand and i am not saying SPS cannot play at all but there are to many negatives surrounding him and in such an even draft which is crucial to us as he is the most likely BUST candidate of the Top 10 who will most likely go on to be a WAFL star but a step below AFL level.

Just tackling and being able to apply pressure in the WAFL does not ensure you will be successful in the AFL ranks and if the 187cm Mid Taranto is on the board coming off 30 possies in a grand final win coupled with excellent overhead marking ( maybe the best in the draft for the Mids ) come our pick i will be shattered if we take SPS over him, but this is just personal opinion and each to their own.
Taranto will be gone by our pick, if that makes you feel any better.

181cm is over 5ft 11

By what a few mm?? Still a bit off 6ft which is small these days as the generations all get taller.

183cm is 6ft flat.

Would you be ok with Kerr at 48* Arr0w ?

I didn't like the news about him at 25, but at 48, I could live with that.

I found it funny that both Twomey and Anderson had us getting Drew at 25. Would be pretty rapt with that...

If we don't like him, we don't like him.
No number should change that nor any sentiment.

There should still be good players around our third pick. Get the player that will most likely be AFL quality.

I don't know why; I think his stats might belie his AFL suitability.

Yes agree with you completely regarding Kerr. As mentioned previously, if we are looking for a mid with 25, Drew is a very good selection, rate him in the top 30

Not really worth comparing him to Taranto, who is predominantly an inside player. SPS plays 60% outside and 40% on the inside. We need both kinds of players, so whoever we draft will be a necessary acquisition.

The club will be leaning towards Taranto if he is available, but it's looking more and more like he'll end up at GWS with Pick 2.

Still amazed at the Brodie drop! Reckon he will put some egg on club's faces in time!

1. McGrath
2. Ainsworth
3. Mcluggage
4. Taranto
5. Setterfield bid - matched
6. SPS

Too much class to pass up. Pickett and SPS could be Burgoyne and Rioli in time! Then again, could be Yaz and Jeffy!

See Yaz has been granted leave from the Toothless Tiges...

Brodie egg on face but maybe steak and potatoes

More than happy with getting another red headed Gleeson in Drew. Very solid family across the board.
Wasn't happy with Clem's highlights a couple of years ago and feel similarly about SPS. And he wasn't happy with the amount of support he got for a hamstring injury? Got a bad feeling about this one.

Either Kerr or Drew are popular choices for our second pick. Both with Carlton family connections. Really hope we are looking deeper than that.

If Essendon dont take McGluggage at 1 it will be the dumbest move they could ever make my top 10 on talent and potential
1 McGluggage
2 Setterfield
3 SPS
4 McGrath
5 Ainsworth
6 Bowes
7 Taranto
8 Brodie
9 Scrimshaw
10 logue

I think Kerr is worth a punt at 50. Has some AFL attributes and could be a decent player if he works on his weaknesses.

Drew is a bit plain for mine.

Do U think Cripps might leave because hes from WA, or just the aboriginal boy.?
What's the point of appointing Andrew walker if you are too scared to take extremely talented indigenous boys?

Kerr at 50 is worthwhile. At 25 with our needs, a little risky.

AFL Commision can meet till 2 o'clock in the morning of the day of the 2002 Draft to ream us - but a "bit too hard" to ream their own love child.

And don't get me started on the utter disgrace of the AFL rewarding Essendon with number 1 draft pick by virtue of this years player penalties - this is also a downright flowering disgrace.
