Didn't we get Pickett, Boekhurst,Sumner and Cunningham for Speed?
I can't see SOS banking on anyone being a certainty next year.
You just wouldn't do it. It would be something if it did come about, but you couldn't plan around it.
Big bodies are good but football smarts are better....and SPS has it in spades.

You are right when you say that you can't bank on things until they are locked away as the Franklin and Boyd cases prove .
But Silvagni is the list manager we've never had before and I'm sure there is a big picture plan in place .
If a player of Fyfe's status is indeed coming to Melbourne , i think we can rest assured that plans are already under way with the club of his choosing .
I actually like the fact Dodoro is keeping things so quiet, it will make the draft more fascinating. If he takes McCluggage it will change things up considerably.
I can't wait for Friday afternoon to watch it all unfold.
I accidentally agreed to go to dinner on draft night![]()

RubbishThat sort of thinking gets us Zak Jones or Darcy Lang instead of Cripps.
Yes, plans would be underway, but guarantees just can't be put in place.
Contracts can't be signed and in-principle agreements don't carry much weight.
What if Fyfe does his knee or worse? What would the CFC do?
What if Fyfe now receives an offer 30% more from elsewhere? He changes his mind and what can we do?
Don't forget Brisbane have pick 3 and if there's a better player around than Bowes, why risk making a bid and not get the player you really want.
Also, don't see much difference between Carlton helping the Hawks out with JOM trade (stuffed if I know why we did), and the Lions and GCS helping each other out.
Anderson's draft has us taking:
5. SPS
27. Drew
50. Kerr
61. Jarman
64. Morrish

Immediately after entree!I don't know how I know this but I can see you getting sick tomorrow.....really sick.![]()
He's the best player in the draft but its those preconceived thoughts that well have us take him at five.. and if it happens ,I love it! Stereotypes and tin foil hats are gold
I think it is the fact that he is not a big ball winner, people talk about him like he is a sure thing but he averaged 21 disposals per game at TAC. Those aren't great numbers when you take into account his skills. He has great hands and I do like him but the more I look at it I think pick 5 is a slight reach.
Halls Creek is miles from anywhere, and yes he would need to adapt to living in any capital city. But so would a lot of kids from the country.Im hoping we stay away from SPS.... too culturally diverse for us to gamble on. Indigenous boys from back grounds like his require time, patience and experience in dealing with. These have never been a strong point for Carlton. Things that the average Indigenous kid has seen and done is unfathomable compared to a kid from the suburbs or a leading private school. The harsh Melbourne afl environment is something most indigenous kids never get use too.
I love his story and hope he becomes the next Rioli. But Carlton can not afford to risk this Pick 5. All these kids are talented but picking the "right kid" is just as important as how fast / skilful he is.
Let a more talented team take the risk/reward scenario SPS.
Stick to a player we know is going to be a 200 gamer for Carlton not a player that will potentially.
Remember we are one of the worst lists in the AFL can't afford any risk with pick 5. Unfortunately picking SPS has maybe just a little.
Do U have any idea how may questions this raises without you telling us why?
If he is the most talented and they all play up to their full potential then he is going to be the best!.. who will and who wont is an unknown.right? There is a massive difference between "most talented" and "best".
I suspect SPS is the most talented.
Time will tell if he turns out to be the best.
The problem is not one of them is a certainty to make it and all have big question marks over them.Didn't we get Pickett, Boekhurst,Sumner and Cunningham for Speed?
Phew...what a relief.Rubbish
You don't like sps too I gather.. and you don't have a reason you want to share either right? I enjoy opinions .. anything wrong with that? Are you insinuating he is racist because he doesn't want SPS?
Because that's how your post reads to me.
It all comes down to the hammies. Were they the reason for drifting in and out of games and his overall poor 2016 numbers? Is it bad luck or something else? Will they hold him back at AFL level?
Averaged 18 possessions at a DE of 48% across the National Carnival and his kicking efficiency was only 38%. Hardly anything to write home about, especially for someone of his talents. Luke Bunker averaged 22 possessions at 72% DE with KE of 60% and laid just as many tackles at the same carnival. People on this board belt the crap of of Kerridge who has a DE of 61%, because he burns the ball. How hard will they go at SPS if he runs at 48%. Yes, SPS will get drafted about 50 places ahead of Bunker, but the simple reality is that Bunker has already demonstrated he can handle a step up in class and pressure without it adversely affecting his game.2016 prospect Sam Petrevski-Seton was called up after a rest and showed his class all day, winning the hard ball and executing with class outside the contest. His defensive pressure was also a highlight, laying some crunching tackles and bumps rarely seen in junior football.

Nat Fyfe will almost certainly stay at freo and there is no way anybody should be planning this draft around him at their club
