Can hear Fitzpatrick now ".....completely different set of circumstances". Be nice to have a Carlton person in the decision making show us a bit of bias just once. All that shitforbrains Collins could do was make things worse for us with that self-indulgent bullshit Etihad deal.

Cripps goes down and you realise that Will Brodie is an important get. That's a huge loss for us and we look weak as p1ss without him in the side.
We can't be making recruiting decisions because one of our best players will be out for 12 weeks in the pre-season. First year recruit can hardly be expected to make a huge difference at clearances anyway. Get Drew or Mutch (or someone like that) with our second and maybe they can play some midfield minutes. Stuff short term concerns, we need the best long term player we can get with pick 5, don't reach for a guy because someone else will be out of action for 12 weeks.

Some real talent late

What do make of Sheik's rumour that we might take Yazz with a very late pick?
Total non-sense because Richmond have said that a condition of being released from his contract is that he cannot re-enter the AFL until 2018.

You can drop selections 70, 81, 99, and 117 as we won't be using them. Plenty of wet, warm towels sounds good for a rookie selection though.
What on earth did we trade #70 in for then?

Actually I got that wrong, we will likely use pick 70 as the talk about the abolition of the rookie lists would make it smart to use that pick (unless all the players we were hoping for are gone).

What do make of Sheik's rumour that we might take Yazz with a very late pick? I'm all for it. Still only 25. We know what he's capable. Mental health can be a tricky thing to deal with, but I wonder how much that had to do with Richmond's decision to let him go. Could it have been more fitness related? Missing a year of footy would take a huge toll on the body. Sorry if this has already been covered in the thread. I trawled back through a few pages and couldn't find much talk.
I think Sheik is on holidays in Nimbin, sampling some of the local "delicacies".

Well they're not being abolished exactly, I think there's just going to be no restrictions on selection.

That is some great depth in the draft.
One player I wouldn't mind us taking a punt on with our last pick would be Kayle Kirby. He has only played football for a few years and is unfit and over weight but he would easily be top 30 on talent imo so I would be happy for us to take the risk because I think he will be picked up before the rookie draft.

Short term concern is a long term concern. Shows lack of depth. Its not like a freak thing happening to several similar players at once. We lose Cripps for any period of time and we look weak. We need tough inside mids. Whos even close to Cripps in toughness? Murphy gets flung around like a rag doll, Gibbs we all know isnt the hardest nut over the ball and is more the recipient... we dont have Judd. We dont have Bell. We dont have Robinson. Who are our tough inside mids besides Cripps? Exactly.

His point is still valid. Cripps is back in 12 weeks. We don't draft based on that occurrence, a 12 week injury (panic drafting). Why is it panic drafting...because we still need more players in quite a few positions. An inside mid is just one of 5/6 players that are important we draft to complete our side.

If as you say we need more inside mids, then i get it, and agree, but we stick to the plan and pick best available with a top 10 pick.

Do not believe Brodie is a reach. Was considered #1 until injured (Essendon wanted him to play VFL). Will be a gun
