You're joking right?
Interesting to see how that unfolds if it were to happen. I wonder if a deficit could be applied to picks they trade in, which they'll no doubt do, seeing as they have 2 players in their academy who are tipped to go top 5 at this stage (obviously a lot can happen in a year).
Maybe Simpkin , they will be kicking themselves if Scrimshaw is howeverI wonder who will still be available at Ports original pick 9?

Venables is certainly another one who fits the bill, as is Berry. I would be happy with either of these two or Gallucci but like you I am hoping that we get the best player possible. If there is a better player available at 13 then I hope we pick him. I have no doubt that our recruiters have a good understanding of the talent order so I am not going to complain either way but hopefully it is a case where the best available happens to be a player of need. Not sure about the Gallucci bit but overall, I agree with this post.
I think in terms of what we need and would like in terms of midfielder, Venables is the type that fits the best. Big body, can play inside and has has the break away speed from stoppage, strong overhead and it a goal kicker when he plays forward. If his medical comes up great, I would be stoked if we pick up this kid. I feel his upside is enormous. Once you get his fitness up to the AFL midfield standard, he will be a beast.
I know people want immediate impact but I am patient and looking at the long term here. I want to get the best player from this draft in the long run, like we did with Dangerfield. Immediate impact would be nice but I want a superstar in the long run. If it means we wait 3 years before he starts getting "tagged" then so be it.
And the bulk of them are developed under Victorian coaches in the Victorian TAC Comp along with the Victorian Private School/College Footy System which is a very strong competition in itself...I'm not au fait with the latest upcoming talent, but I will say two things:
- I'm bloody sick of this academy shit whereby Sydney and GWS can grow their own exclusive talented veggies that basically no one else can touch. Expect our Pick 13 to become Pick 17 or whatever.
- We desperately need a good midfielder, but doubt whether our pick 13 from tonight is going to be ready in time for a flag challenge in the next few years. The kid we select tonight may be part of our rebuilt premiership side in 5-10 years' time. I don't want to wait that long for the chance to win a flag, dammit.
SENWhat radio station do I need to tune into to listen to the draft live?

1116Um ok can I listen to that in my car in SA? what's the frequency?
His size? 186 cm is a very nice size for a mid. He is taller that any regular midfielders in our side. I am more worried about foot injuries.Agree, big fan of Venables, just doesn't seem to be on our radar judging by the "expert" opinion, so not getting my hopes up there.
I think Gallucci offers a great mix between inside and out, my main concern with him is his size, but has a lot of weapons.
I need to find someone to help me read out the numbers though. You may have 5 more minutes on top of those 36 months

One good thing about this draft...no bloody Geelong Falcons at the pointy end...
Edit : Uh Oh Alex Witherden..![]()
West AdelaideSydney need some speed ......they've already, via Academies got a couple of beauties to go into the midfieldAlthough the phantoms don't mean much this year, everyone seems certain that Brodie wont slip down past Sydney's pick. He sounds to me on description the exact player we needed![]()
West AdelaideHe's a dickweed .......am i allowed to say that ?dodorro said he may ask for extra time for pick 1 lol
West AdelaideI'll take a $10,000 bet on that not happening .....credit card acceptableAnything could happen
Even English to Crows wouldn't completely shock
Please no

Sure but draftees won't fix that this year or next. I am expecting a big play for a Mid in next years trade period. I know that's the definition of insanity. We know now that our Dangerfieldless/soon-to-be-Thompsonless midfield is thin
