Maybe Bicks. Thaught every club would do the first round pick media tweet. This young Hayward is def going first round if he's been invited is what I'm concluding.
That tweet was from Matt Balmer who said he'd heard a whisper Hayward and Simpkin were invited, it was not confirmed, unless you have other sources?

Most clubs as far as I know haven't had their final meeting of the recruiting team yet to decide on their "big" board, Hamish said as much just recently.

Similar size and weight, both good overhead, both capable forward/back, both aggressive at the contest, both project as the modern day "taller/bigger" Mid capable of multiple roles, IMO Berry quicker and more agile with a far better tank than Francis, both very penetrating kicks. I think the only question mark on Francis has ever been he needed to work on his "tank". As I've said before I see Berry as a slightly bigger Brodie Smith with a far more aggressive and contested nature to his game.
If he's all of these things, and Francis went Pick 6, and Brodie Smith is an AA level defender, how is he going to last to pick 13?

Just the cupboard variety. You are the guru and have given tremendous content since I've been on the board about future draft talent.

Because this is a "Super" draft and so even after the first 6 or so.

Edit : Brodie went at 14, we have pick 13 in this draft.;)

I'm confident whoever we get at 13 in this draft will be a good player as there will still be plenty of quality still on the table . I'm just disappointed we don't have a 2nd in this particular draft which is laden with mids that project well..

Apparently Twomey has said that we're well into Berry and Hayward.

Starting to think Berry will be the go
I hope so. I just feel it's a bit too early for Hayward (even though he'll probably go before our pick). Still unproven in midfield and could just be a good medium sized marking forward (ie Sicily). Prior to his last 4 weeks, he wasn't rated that high.

Really interesting that I heard we won't go Hayward at 13, and yet lots of reports that we are very keen. If we do go for Hayward at 13 it will tell me a lot about our current list management team.
Personally I'm REALLY hoping we grab him at 13. I'm also hoping that he told Carlton how much of a Crows fan he is and it scares them off!
What does that mean? Are you saying you don't rate them if they don't pick him?

I'm starting to agree with Jeffcrowe. I'm really getting a Fyfe vibe with Hayward. Both general forwards with great hands and athleticism, both 186cm, both compared to Brett Burton, both unable to get high disposal numbers in the U18's.

Reckon there's heaps of potential there, but there's always the risk he turns into a Sicily-type.

Reckon he goes top 10, though.

I'm still not convinced on Hayward at pick 13

Yes he looks dangerous and clean up forward however I want a genuine midfielder at pick 13 and not a player that we need to develop into a midfielder

Berry and Venables are still my wants at pick 13
Midfielder would be ideal but number one priority must be best available.

Is it just me, or does Berry have a little bit of Hodge in him?

Able to fill a gap well around the ground, tough, leadership qualities...
:p:p ......cmon,you've been a very good poster to converse with, but you're now just believing Bicks hometown hype on Berry just a bit much

I find it interesting when you see bio's of players .....this player has "x" factor, brilliant mark, explosive pace ......and Berry you see great leader and of sound personality

That is telling you something if you read the signs .......it's nearly the only thing said about Berry

He is no Hodge ......he'll be a good player, safe player, similar to Ebert .......if that's your go at #13 ?????

Bicks contributions have been great. Berry has been getting solid hype with or without Bicks pumping him up.

If you've notices, I've actually been a Berry fan for quite a while. I'm not just 'believing the hype'.

Fact is, he hasn't had the chance to showcase his abilities this year through injury, and by all reports he was very good when given a go through the midfield, using some pace, a decent boot and endurance running to have an impact.

I'm certainly not saying he's Hodge - merely that he has some of those Hodge-like qualities that will stand him in very good stead in the AFL. Reckon he'll definitely be a very good player. He's still very much my second preference to Venables, though.

I'm still liking Venables with 13. True bull, inside/outside mid, explosive, decent skills... Complements our current inside mids well.

But as I was saying a couple of weeks back, Hayward is an exciting prospect. Kid's as skinny as a rake and will fill out not overly heavy. Should Ogilvie take him I will not be disappointed, in fact I'd be enthused as he would obviously see some serious potential

Francis has much more football talent than Berry IMO , if you mixed Francis football talent with Berrys mental side and physical prep you'd have a number 1 pick

they are my 2 as well with Powell- Pepper

I'm leaning Hayward but can't see it

For what it's worth I've a feeling we will bypass Venables as well , not sure what we will do this year
