Out of all the options, not the worst, not the best.Home is great though. wonder where they will play it, and on what surface. Clay might be a option..?

i am going to do some maths to see if Venus or Serena have to play now.

Both Williams Sisters have played their 3 matches to qualify for the Olympics. dont think we will see them out here then.

the biggest player i know who has not got their 3 yet is Keys. that will depend on her injury, which i havent been able to find any info on. the other couple in the 40's who look like they have only played in 2 are Coco Vandeweghe and Varvara Lepchenko, both ranked in their 40's. Brengle is on 0. Bethanie Mattek Sands is stuck at 1 appearance, but played the last US Fed Cup tie. she might still play in the Olympics if she sucks up the the tennis federation, cause she is top 10 in doubles.(may qualify for an exemption)

So i think Coco and Sands are good chances for coming down here.(Coco is a top 50 ranked doubles player, and a better player then Lepchenko) Keys will, if able to. one left after that.

Edit: yeah, Coco and BM-Sands were the doubles team last cup tie. probably practicing for the Olympics, so they will play here u reckon.

reckon that team, even without the big 2, will make it a very very hard to beat them.

Yeah it's tough for both teams since the tour will be in Europe. I think Keys, Coco, BMS and I guess they will throw in a Lauren Davis.

yeah i was thinking Davis as well.

others, apart from Brengle or Lepchenko, could be Riske or Mchale.

They have a lot more depth than i thought.

It depends on their schedule and the court surface. If it is hard I think USA will go with a Lepchenko or Davis who has great results on hard courts. Australia will go with Stosur (no points to really lose), Dellacqua, a young player and one of the Rodionovas whom the WTA dislikes.

What about Jarmila Wolfe?

Scored the home advantage, happy with that! Brisbane/ Adelaide/ Canberra to host? Can't imagine Melbourne will host the tie after having Davis Cup a month earlier.

How come WTA don't like Rodionova?

Have to think about playing this on clay with Sam and the time of the year but I guess hard is fine too. It's not like the situation a few years back when we chose clay for a tie around this date for Sam but she didn't come down anyway, back then she had a chance at winning the French. Now it doesn't matter, I expect Sam will be there.

I assume it costs alot to set up clay just like it does grass? It seems like an awful waste of money that makes little or no difference to chances of winning imo. How about spending that money on junior development instead? :thumbsu: or get more imports

great news. now, all she needs to find is some form and we are set.

if she fails to win her first match at Miami this week, i will become really worried.

Swiss have a decent squad - Bencic, Bacsinszky and Hingis + some random player (Golubec)
France with Kiki, Garcia, Cornetto and Parmentier. It's okay
Russia with Kasatkina, Gasparyan, Vesnina and Kulichkova.

I remember when stacked Russia was either Petrova, Chakvetadze, Zvonareva, Makarova, Kuznetsova in the late 00's and early 10's

semi are swiss v czech
France v Dutch

Bencic is in some terrible form atm. cant play clay or non power hitters. be very interesting if her form is just that, or something bigger against the power hitters of the Czech republic(without Kvitova)

Kiki is struggling as well and Garcia is up and down. Dutch should have never beaten Russia, so who knows they can pull off another upset. lot riding on Kiki Bertans.

Russia is still a very strong team. Kasatkina has been one of the few players on tour who has been super consistent all year so far. Vesnina is playing like a top 30 player. thrashed Bencic today in Charleston.

Yank team is how we thought it would be, months ago. Mchale, Coco, BMS and Keys
