It's a joke. Seriously, I have no problem playing GC in Qld but can we do it in June instead?

I made this.

Average is 7.9. Without us, 8.3. Without us, Dogs or Melbourne, 7.7

Anyone know if Gablett will be up for this one?

It was an MCL tear which is usually 5-8 weeks. If GC were a chance for finals he could have played by the end of the season, but as he's Gary and their season was over he was wrapped in cotton wool. He'll be as fit as a fiddle come round one and after two injury riddled years he'll be champing at the bit. Be afraid.

Welcome to Essendon, Craig Bird!!

Now go tag Gaz in 30 degree heat.

Probably play the Pies once and Carlton twice.

The bloke copped shit from everyone during his injury lay off which he would have hated.

He's going to embrass everyone next season you watch.

It's good that we only play Collingwood once. The AFL don't need to be playing Carl/Coll/Ess twice every year. It's a myth that it helps attendances.

For example

If Essendon and Collingwood both bring 40,000 fans to a game each and Melbourne and North Melbourne both bring 15,000 fans to a game each, and you have a situation where Essendon and Collingwood play each other, and Melbourne and North Melbourne play each other the crowd totals would be:

Ess vs Coll .............80,000
Melb vs Nth.Melb.....30,000
Total...................110,000

But if you swap them and have Essendon and Collingwood playing Melbourne and North Melbourne, the crowd totals are:
Ess vs Melb............55,000
Coll vs Nth.Melb......55,000
Total.......................110,000

It works out the same.

It's time we started playing other teams twice on a more regular basis.

The good thing is that Anzac Day will be a Collingwood home game. This frees up our 4 home games at the MCG to be against someone else.

We are guaranteed to play 4 games at the MCG mimimum (our 4 home games) but the more away games we play there is the key to playing more matches there. We need to play as, many away games at the MCG as possible to get up to double figures at the MCG.

I hope we only play Carlton once and it's an away game.

On the bright side we're due in 2017....

For me, and ideal fixture would be something like this

TEAMS PLAYED TWICE (5)
Adelaide.....................away in Adelaide, home at ETIHAD
GEELONG...................away at MCG, home at MCG
Melbourne..................away at MCG, home at ETIHAD
West Coast.................away at Subi, home at ETIHAD
Richmond...................away at MCG, home at MCG

TEAMS PLAYED ONCE (12)
Collingwood........ away MCG
Carlton............... away MCG
Hawthorn ............away MCG
GWS....................away
Port Adelaide........away
Brisbane...............away

St.Kilda................home ETIHAD
Bulldogs...............home ETIHAD
Nth Melbourne......home MCG
Fremantle............home ETIHAD
Sydney...............home MCG
Gold Coast..........home ETIHAD

10 games at the MCG (4 home, 6 away)
7 games at Etihad (just our 7 home games)
5 interstate

4 MCG home games against Richmond, Geelong, Nth Melbourne and Sydney

Make sure we don't have away games against St.Kilda, Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne (which would maximise Etihad games when instead we want to be maximising MCG games)

That would be my ideal fixture.

That won't happen.

No way will we play both Pies and Blues only once.

Why not? What difference would it make? The one game against Carlton in 2015 only drew a tick over 50,000 anyway.

Lots of teams only played Carlton and Colllingwood once in 2015. We did ourselves in 1991

Richmond only played Carlton and Collingwood once in 2015.

Adelaide and WC are in the 1 to 6 bracket - We can only one team twice from this bracket.

Our double up games are x2 vs teams 13 -18, x2 vs team 7-12, x1 vs teams 1-6.

Very happy to play away round 1 especially against Gold Coast. Id pick to play away in round 1 every day of the week. Quit complaining although im not in Victoria anxiously waiting to watch my team in home and wanting it to be ASAP (ie round 1).

Playing GC round 1 also good. Wonder what Gaz, Prestia, Omeara, Swallow will be like early in the season.
