We will only get geelong once this year. I can just sense it! Funny how when they were on top we always had them twice as our fans made the games blockbusters, and also the contests were tight.

They fall away and start getting pumped, interestingly their supporters bitch out!

If WCE will be at the G, wonder who our Tassie games are.

Brisbane, Freo, GWS, GC?

Hopefully not both Brisbane and GC as we will only play them once and we need a game in Queensland.

It should be the 2 most shite interstate clubs (if Brisbane, count them as vic for purposes of needing 2 vic clubs to play there) and the 2 worst vic minnows. So I will go Brisbane, Gold Coast, GWS and st kilda.

Edit yes again no QLD game. If the away game happens vs Brisbane, substitute Melbourne to tassie; if it is GC we play away then substitute Port.

Round 1 we'll get Cats Easter Monday (away) & we'll unfurl flag Round 2 v WC on Saturday night, I'm then tipping Round 3 we'll travel interstate either SA or NSW.. Round 4 will be Anzac weekend and I reckon that will be our 1st Tassie game.

Round one fixture:

Thursday, March 24
Richmond v Carlton, MCG

Saturday
Melbourne v Greater Western Sydney, MCG
Gold Coast v Essendon, Metricon Stadium
Sydney Swans v Collingwood, ANZ Stadium
North Melbourne v Adelaide, Etihad Stadium

Sunday
Western Bulldogs v Fremantle, Etihad Stadium
Port Adelaide v St Kilda, Adelaide Oval
West Coast v Brisbane Lions, Domain Stadium

Monday
Geelong v Hawthorn, MCG

Would the AFL really be that harsh and give us a 5 day break off the back of Round 1?

You betcha. A firm message from the AFL that they are in charge from the very opening rounds!

Yet the pricks will stand and clap the unfurling of our premiership flag as they did this year.
Ruined my day because i watched them totally pissed off.
Reports of fitzpatricks actual anger at Hawthorn for doing there job just sums up these ameteur coffee drinking, biscuit snapping, bonus counting , schemers.
The sooner they are tipped out the better.
I don't believe there would be as many poor struggling clubs if this was the case.

How did we cop an away game Round 1?!

Absolute nonsense, the reigning premiers should always start with a home game to show of the flag to the members/supporters, etc. and start the new season on a high

We alternate with the Cats each year in terms of hosting the Easter Monday match.

The Hawks will play the Cats twice. Everyone expects the Cats to be challenging for top four in 2016 after the players they've traded in over the trade period. The AFL will expect that the rivalry continues for at least another season.

I truly hope you are right. It just seems that the crowds have dropped off on the geelong end. We made their "era" memorable with tight contests all the time. They beat us well only once, and that was the 2011 QF.

of course we should get a tough draw, we're the reigning premiers. That's the way it's supposed to work, no? Though with that said I reckon our fixture this year was semi decent.

I think that was more because of the strange nature for the teams that rose from nowhere and others that fell a long way.

I just hope they don't do what they did a few years ago by having us play all finalists in the first 2 months.

Knowing the AFL they could start:

R1 Cats at the G
R2 Freo in Freo
R3 Eagles in Tassie
R4 Pies at the G
R5 Sydney in Sydney
R6 Dogs at Etihad
R7 Crows in SA
R8 Tigers at the G

We play boring Geelong in the first round again?

Can we get a game against one of our rivals?
Box Hill not allowed to play on account of being a VFL side
