Analysis 2016 Fixture

I'm not against us playing in Darwin as such. However I am against the fact that the majority of games sold by Melbourne clubs to other states involve interstate teams. I also think that if the club is selling a membership option specific to Victoria then there should be a substantial push for there to be between 5-6 games per H&A season in Melbourne.

Only because the grand final is at the MCG. The club shouldn't have any right to say where it's away games are played except for games at the MCG because of that guarantee. All clubs should have at least 2 games a year there, and no non-Victorian club should sacrifice a game there because some deadbeat Melbourne club wants to sell their home games.

I agree to a point. There is a financial consideration for the club as well, albeit not a huge one. Having more games in Melbourne would encourage more Freo supporters in Melbourne to take out Victorian membership, the proceeds of which would go to Freo as opposed to the home team if you're just buying the admission tickets.

I'll readily admit that my opinion is based on self-interest, but please don't confuse that with being spoilt.

A Victorian membership is $150, which would equate to 6 x GA tickets for games at the MCG & Etihad (not Geevegas). The season just gone saw Freo play in Melbourne 5 times, so from a financial justification viewpoint that's $5 extra per game for the club which I'm OK with. If that goes down to 4 games then my ability to justify the membership reaches a tipping point. That then becomes an extra 50% on top of the GA entry for some trinkets, goodwill & a slightly better chance at obtaining GF tickets.

Chances are that getting a match in Darwin will mean that either there will be no Launceston match or there will be one less Adelaide/Sydney/Queensland match.

That's what I'm hoping... as long as apparentlydead gets one as well!

We got Darwin, Tasmania, QLD x 2 this season. AFL love giving the WA teams a hell draw.
How many games did you guys have in Melbourne this year?

Oh, i'm not saying it may not be in the club's interests. But it should be something for clubs in general that they can't make any demands about where their away games should be played. Hawthorn have been getting a sweetheart deal for years in that they are usually the least travelled side (for away games) because they ask for few interstate trips as a consequence of their Tassie games. They should be told to **** off.

I don't recall us ever getting three Fri night games in a season. Melb teams yes, but not us.

So our reward is only getting a slightly worse fixture than the average?

In saying that, I hope we don't get any Friday night away games. The early start time is a bitch.

Friday night home games are worse. plus if away game, it softens the travel blow by way of 8 or 9 day break.
