I
This year the Eagles copped the Thursday night game, but no Tasmanian or NT game for them. 3 MCG games, and double-ups against Freo, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hawthorn and Collingwood. Probably the harder draw, but much softer logistically.
when I said this year I guess I meant last season (2015) if you compare the draws they would be pretty similar on face value

Maybe on face value it doesn't look that bad but that's two years in a row we haven't got a home game against the Hawks and gone to Launny instead . Happy to stand corrected but hawks have played us here in home and away once in 4 years for memory. Launny and Darwin and also Brissy twice ? Pleeeaassseee ! And why can't we ever play the Bombers in melbourne when they're shit ? Isnt there some hoodoo to break or something. We'll still stick it up them by finishing top two ..

Hawks don't travel to WA this year and get us in Tassie...
They play the other mob in WA in round 22, but apart from that they have one game in QLD and then the next longest trip is Adelaide.

Obviously the AFL think that a team setting a 4 in a row record will be good for the competition's image.

Was going to add the usual complaint about Sydney as well, but on checking we play them in WA.

Go the wanderers.

I cant believe we have 3 trips to the north, I would send the Peel team to one of the Gabba games in protest.

In all seriousness not a bad draw but we are the out of sight team. I wonder how many FTA games we will get?

When they come to Tassie this year I hope they do something for the supporters, i.e. me.

Based on this, you expect Freo, Hawks, Eagles and Sydney to dominate Friday nights games. I think they missed the word Victorian before teams.

AFL Fixture: Top teams to light up Friday nights

Hawks, Tigers, Roos and Pies to hog premier time slot in 2016

I laughed when I saw that on the AFL website: let's just pretend 3 of the top six teams don't exist and add Tigers and Pies because they're 'big'.

5 in Melbourne

I'll be in Tassie for that game so I will look for the old dude in shiny armour and buy you a sangria.
Tassie get together is on, baby.

I'll book the telephone box.

There is always one team that everybody celebrates getting to play twice before the season starts and then they excel and everybody has a sook about it! Wonder if that will be GC this year?

Good to see the club has highlighted the unfairness of the travel schedule. But I expect the AFL won't even notice.

http://www.fremantlefc.com.au/news/2015-10-29/fremantles-2016-home-and-away-fixture

The downside is the away game fixture, where Fremantle will play only four games in Melbourne, including just one visit to the MCG in round 14 for a Friday night clash with Collingwood, plus games at Etihad Stadium in round four against North Melbourne and St Kilda in round 10.

The AFL has also burdened Fremantle with one of its most demanding away game travel schedules in recent seasons, including games in Darwin (Melbourne, round 16); Launceston (Hawthorn, round eight); Brisbane (Lions, round 12); Gold Coast (Suns, round 18) and Sydney (GWS, round 22).

“While we are pleased that the AFL responded positively to our request for a reduction in the number of six-day breaks, we are very disappointed that we have been scheduled to play only four games in Melbourne and the affect of this is that we play four games across Queensland, Tasmania and the Northern Territory, Rosich said.

“Given that we have one of the most demanding travel schedules in the league, we believe the AFL has placed an unfair burden on the club by scheduling so many games in venues that require much longer flight times than Perth to Melbourne and return for example.

“Ultimately though, to get to where we want to as a club, we have to win wherever we are scheduled to play, and we look forward to the challenge that our away fixture presents.

5 out of 22 and 4 games live, feel sorry for our Vic Dockers.
Where did you see that? All I can find on TV schedules is the first 10 rounds, which has us having one (1) game where Channel 7 is the host network - at home to Richmond in round 9.

How do the other sides fare in the first 10 rounds I hear you ask?

Collingwood 8
Richmond 8
West Bullies 8
Hawthorn 7
Essendon 6
Geelong 6
Carlton 5
St Kilda 5
Adelaide 4
Melbourne 4
Norf 4
Port Ad 4
Sydney 4
Gold Coast 2
WCE 2
Brisbane 1
Fremantle 1
GWS 1

Thanks goodness we're playing Richmond, otherwise there'd be none!

Gold Coast have a lot of question marks over their side.
How much impact did Bennell have?
How much impact did Dixon have?
How much impact can GAJ have anymore?

How much impact did Bennell have? - Lots. He put in good performances even through the rubbish.
How much impact did Dixon have? - Lots. Was one of their main talls.
How much impact can GAJ have anymore? - Lots. Even with 1 arm the guy is an absolute gun.

Hope this clears thing up.

Travel and lack of MCG is obviously shit, but pretty happy overall.

The double ups look pretty damn favourable on face value, couldn't have done much better there.
