You mentioned 5 players who I would rate a < 50% chance of playing 12 games next year, which dilutes that post somewhat. What Clark has that no one else in our forward line has is aggression. Hawkins is intimidating because of his size and ability.
But Clark is happy to throw himself around we need more of that. A small forward that annoyed the opposition was tough and kicked goals would be handy.
Scott Selwood could play the role at times but will be needed through the middle and maybe even down back. Cowan and Linc if they are fit could do it.
There is a lot of talent that can go through the forward line. Also expect more goals from Danger, Mackie, Selwood, Duncan, Caddy, Guthrie and Motlop.
Menzel as well can play deep forward or feed off Hawkins.

I think Scott will play a lot more than that but yes in the others. You mentioned 5 players who I would rate a < 50% chance of playing 12 games next year, which dilutes that post somewhat.
Cowan, Linc, Clark, SS, Menzel.
But certainly agree with goals from Mackie et al. In fact, I would love to see Mackie play a Gunston type role, where he first started when he was skin on bones. Yes, he HAS put on sufficient weight.
I don't see any issue with our fwd structure/options. Depth is great . Gregson/Lang will improve.
Duncan/Motlop are proven.
Hawkins is crucial.
Vardy or Clark are iffy but talented.
Bartel can kick goals.
JSelwood/Danger enjoy goals.
Menzel is our X Factor.
Stanley, Smith can assist.
And then Mackie..
I'd like to see Cockatoo in defence to earn his keep, and blitz the opposition.

Clever. Not useful. Or is it?
We did see GAS go FF at an older age...Just gives me flashbacks to a pre-match thread half way through the year where many were certain that Mackie no longer had a place in our backline and that the way he will get games was to replace Kersten as the third tall. That thread changed me man...
But in all seriousness they won't play him in that role. Mackie as a 31 year old doesn't have the necessary athleticism to play a role similar to Gunston.

Can't believe I said that.
But have some faith, Mackie is a star, and I reckon he would cherish the opportunity to camp fwd and add to his goal tally?
Please no, I want to see him giving sides head aches up forward.I'd like to see Cockatoo in defence to earn his keep, and blitz the opposition.

What would your forward 6 look like ?I'd like to see Murdoch return to his pressure forward role in 2016. Lang and Gregson are much better decision makers and should be placed further up the ground rather than Murdoch IMO. Keep Murdoch's role simple and let him do what he does best, which is pressure the ball carrier and create goals out of half chances due to his goal sense.
I wouldn't mind seeing him being moved up to the wing occasionally if he's struggling to get into the game but the more time that he spends inside our forward 50 the better IMO.
Put me down for that.I'm happy to continue to see him play off half back and do what he's been doing a good job of the majority of his career.
If was moved forward I have do doubt he'd accumulate a tonne of the ball, he's too smart of a player not to. Whether that would translate into a improved scoreboard damage compared to the person he'd replace(Bartel,Smedts,Murdoch, Kersten or whoever), who knows. In any case, I don't think that he would be the solution to any problems that our forward line faces. While it would open up another problem to who we send back in his place, probably be Cowan, since we're kind of short on numbers down back. Which is why we are seeing a lot of people put Guthrie as a defender in their best 22s.
It depends alot on form and injuries of course, but I'd like to see something like this...What would your forward 6 look like ?
I think once you lock down Hawkins at FF and Clark/Vardy at CHF, we're going to have plenty of options like you said rotating through the flanks, pockets and midfield; if we're fit, this could be our most versatile team in a long timeIt depends alot on form and injuries of course, but I'd like to see something like this...
Lang Vardy Bartel
Murdoch Hawkins Menzel
Obviously there will be others that will rotate through there at times, but taking the rest of the team into account aswell, it would look something like this the majority of the time.

Throw in murder, mots, grego, cocky....and i will laugh at the haters if the other little man zac bates, improves again

Obviously has some work to do but Smedts is the other player I forgot to mention in my other post. He certainly could play a pressure forward role.
Has the pace, goal kicking ability and tackling skill to do it. I hope he has a good run without injuries and can find a spot.
I think having Bartel play as a defensive forward/tagging the best hbf would benefit the team immensely.
Teams waltz out of our forward line way too easily. Would be good to have Jimmy play the old Rooke role stopping teams run out of our fwd 50 whilst snagging a sausage or 2.
