I read a training report on the Hawks board a little while ago that Fitzpatrick was being out bodied by 1st year rookies.
Pitonet is a second year rookie but built like a man at 202cm & 100kg. He has excellent technique too, so no surprises he'd beat Fitzpatrick convincingly in the ruck.

Any chance of getting upgraded/playing games this year?

Is it just me or does Fitzpatspud look nothing like a human?
I think it is the decided lack of anything remotely resembling a chin.
I suppose it could be worse...

Remember, Schoenmakers was playing alongside Roughead to finish the season and played well enough to earn his spot for the GF. He would have been starting Rd1 with or without Rough. It's likely they'll select another tall/medium forward IMO. Plenty to choose from. It could be Spangher or O'Brien if they wish to go tall, Sicily if a mid-sized will suffice. Keep in mind, they drafted 2 mid-sized forwards at picks 19 (Burton, could have been a top 5 pick if eligible as a 17 y/o, before broken leg last year) and 44 (Hardwick, leading goal kicker in TAC cup last season) as well. The other complicating factor is whether Hawthorn play a second ruckman, which I think is more likely now after the Roughead injury. If they do go small, with Schoenmakers supporting McEvoy, 2 of the above mentioned will likely play.

Hawthorn could be surprisingly relevant SC wise depending on how all this plays out.

Even if one (or two) of their youngsters are named rd1, I'd imagine it would be a pretty risky selection given the competition for spots and the uncertainty around their preferred structure.

I thought prior to Rougheads injury they may have toyed with the idea of him being the forward/R2. I think that you are you are right in that they will almost certainly have to play Big Boy and Ceglar now.

It's going to be fascinating to see how Hawthorn line up this year with no Lake, Hale, Suckling. After Roughead's injury there could be up to 3-4 new names in the team come Round 1 and I think O'Brien can be one of them.

Spot on Thuggee. With both Roughead and Schoenmakers capable of providing 15-20% relief to McEvoy, I could have seen Clarkson experimenting with this. Far less likely now, though we still could see it at some point through the year. They didn't settle on their best line-up/preferred structure until finals time in 2015.
The logical replacement for Lake is Spangher, but with Roughead going down he might be used forward. Plenty of other options though as I have said (Sicily, Burton, Hardwick, O'Brien, Fitzpatrick). I could also see them exposing Brand and Heatherly in defence, and then again they could always return to playing small with Gibson and Stratton being asked to cover taller opponents as they did in 2014.
I'm not sure that O'Brien has really improved as they would have liked. Others are suggesting that he may be down the pecking order. Like you, I'd assume he would be in the mix at least.
Far more uncertainty at Hawthorn than one would assume would be the case with the reigning premiers. Clarkson has some interesting decisions to make that will impact on not just personnel, but on team structure too. I can see them experimenting throughout the season.

For SC purposes, there are potentially some interesting possibilities, but buyer beware. Uncertainty with ideal structure and on who their best 22 is doesn't suggest job security will be high for those on the fringe

Might have asked this before but what are people's thoughts on Jake Stringer?

Is he having full pre-season?
Seemed to finish last year off very well.
$425K.

He's having a full pre-season and is an absolute jet. It's just a question of whether he pushes up into the mid enough. With Crameria out, I can see Stringer maybe pushing up more, but he's our main goalscorer so we need him down there more often than not. Awkward price range as well.

Stringer won't really be a sc player unless he plays midfield.

I do love Stringer.
Could be a good POD.
But as you say may have to stay up forward more meaning a bad POD :/

what are people's thoughts on christensen from BL this year? i've never really watched alot of him but have the impression of high expectations re ability since early on at the cats.

Absolute spud. I wouldn't go near him. How could you even suggest that?

Lock. Don't give away my POD pls.

Hahaha, nah. It's alright. He was the first Lions player locked in my side. Didn't look twice. Just need to read training reports to see how fit the guy is now. Always a great sign.
