I usually have a rule of not having two players from the same side in the same position on field.

But even with that rule only Rockliff is a lock for me in terms of Lions players. Martin I am likely to go as my R1 but he's not a lock for me yet. Zorko I'm not going near though I don't doubt he'll score well at times. Hanley I like but only if he was DEF & playing out of defence like he did 2-3 years ago scoring his best. Christensen I rate though worried about his durability & around his price range not going near. Rich not going anywhere near I'd rather take the punt on a Z. Williams or Thurlow who are a bit cheaper.

Second-highest averaging ruckman who is now a sole ruckman isn't a lock? Ok.

Beams' averages last five years: 113, 115, 102, 123, 100. Not a lock? Ok...

Already said Christensen wasn't a lock in my preview.

Already said Daniel Rich will be changed to a consider.

Pearce Hanley is borderline-lock at that price. Who cares if he's mid only? He'll still offer up a better average than anyone in that price range. Give him a whole season with a fully-fit midfield and he'll only increase his average from previous years. Average of 105-110 is definitely achievable. He is the best player in our team...
I have Martin, and he is a borderline lock IMO, but you could have Jacobs/Sandi/NicNat at a similar price.

Beams, plenty of other options at his price, and doesn't stand out as a must have compared to them. However, could easily be in the winners starting team.

Hanley, like others have suggested, isn't a must have at his price/position.

Nevertheless, all guns and worthy selections mate (y)

We just disagree on your use of a 'lock'

Absolutely.

From a Supercoach Preview point of view, the word 'lock', at least in my preview, is used to describe players who are running hot, well-priced and are proven scorers. At least that's how my preview worked.

If I were to post a team with all those in one side and state their locks in my team, then that would be just plain stupid and would be rightfully criticised by people on here. Just couldn't understand the outcry of me naming them all locks. If they're not a lock for you, then they will be for someone else. I couldn't even count the amount of times someone would ask, "Who's a good midfielder under 500K?". Pearce Hanley is probably the best available one. Would he not be a lock in that scenario?

Hanley's underpriced and will probably be around 100 avg so isn't the worst pick, but he's just an awkward price and doesn't fit my structure and wouldn't make the cut as a M8. He would be a lock in my side if he was a defender.
I consider Rocky and Liber either side of his price range to be 'locks' and have built my side around them. Otherwise I've pretty much gone guns and rookies.

Fair enough then. Just thought I saw enough from Hanley in the midfield at the end of 2014 and when he went back there at the end of 2015 (scoring 146) to suggest he's a lock at that price. If he averages 10 or so points less than Rockliff or Beams, at that price, then I think some would be kicking themselves for not picking him. Each to their own.

This is a lock...

This is maybe a lock...

No it's Motlop's dinner. :(

Im picking motlop because hes gotta be indestructable after consuming the power of a million turtles!

In other terrible picks apparantly j martin has gone a full newnes and is now up to 83 kg, up from his 2014 weight if 64kg. He may get in my girlfriends midprice madness side. unfortunatly he is at a super awkward price for a GnR setup.

Woah a Triple Newnes!

I'm 90% happy with the rest of my team, but when it comes to F4, I have about 254k left over.

Option 1. Get a mid pricer like Simpkin, Wells, Duggan, etc.

Option 2. Get another rookie, and bank the ~100k.

Option 3. Get another rookie, turn Martin or NicNat into Goldy.

Frosty decision to be made, but someone mite b lyon

I think Lyons would be in line for a best 22 position, but the Crows board think otherwise...

Not sure Frost will average enough to make any decent cash. He would only probably fill in for 2-4 games in the ruck, so maybe 120-240 points , is it worth having him?

Lyons will be best 22 but nab watch

Frost being touted as CHF no1 switching with Gawn in the ruck.

God only knows what they'll average tho

Anderson/Duggan added to watchlist too

Yep, there are a whole bunch of options around that 2-250k mark. I think there'll be one that stands out come end of NAB. Possibly Wells ;)

Burning trades is my logic.

might aswell just get the super premo's & rookies IMHO.
rookies are burning trades too, however you'll need to burn 2 trades in order to upgrade to a super premo.
As soon as birdy hits 500k+, he will be ripe for trading to a fallen super pemo

Good luck with that :thumbsu:

No.

Every upgrade requires two trades. A downgrade trade to make money and then the upgrade trade.

So if you have 2 midpricers it will take you 4 trades to get two premo's.

If you have 1 premo and one rookie you only need to upgrade the rookie = 2 trades.

The midpricers will give you a headstart on points in the early rounds but will cost you trades or points in the later rounds.

Rich - 'lock'
Beams - 'lock'
Rockliff - 'lock'
Hanley - 'lock'
Zorko - 'lock'
Martin - 'lock'
Christensen - 'lock'

No offence, but it's hard to take you seriously when you've said all these players (from the second worst team in the comp) are 'locks'. Very bias.
Poster who overstates the SC prospects of players from their team has a go at another poster for doing the same thing. Hilarious discussion about the definition of 'lock' ensues. yay.
In my team, forward eligible rookies are almost looking more promising than mids at the moment.

Doubt Frost will spend any significant time in the ruck, especially if he is going to be played as CHF, cant see him being worth too much SC wise.
