My point exactly, if he is fit he is a no brainer, clearly he is not fit so I will not be starting with him, I'll most likely be using a mid pricer to score well early and straight swap them come round 6-8.
No offence but that's a waste of a trade IMO

If I'm picking premiums/mid pricers I'm picking them as season long keepers (hopefully)

I've never understood this argument of "wasted trades".

If someone doesn't pick Deledio it doesn't mean they're picking someone who won't be a keeper.

Making Daniel Wells or Dean Towers Brett Deledio isn't a waste of a trade, that is what trading is for. Using a player on a stretch to bring in a long term scorer for the team. I do not see either of those guys keepers by any means and if you do you're deluded. Brett Deledio has the highest ceiling of any player in the forwards this year. We can both agree on that. He is unfit and I have highlighted all the reasons I will not be picking him. Both times in the last 2 years he has missed 4 of the opening 8 rounds, to go with that his scoring has been abysmal early on. He will bottom out at 500, I will get him then. I'll be looking at him to average 108 points a game from the time I bring him in compared to the 95 I'll be looking at in a 6-8 round stretch from the cheaper guys. Using 1-2 trades to improve my weekly output by 13 is more than worth it. Hopefully that rookie coming in is Christian Petracca. If you don't think that turning Towers and Milera into Deledio and Petracca isn't amazing then you need help.

No, most of your argument was about him being a slow starter. You had, like one sentence about his fitness in three convoluted posts.
I'm pretty sure I had a big chunk on him missing 4 out of the first 8 games in the last 2 years. That is him not being fit. I then went on to say that he is ALSO a slow starter.

ahh, I'm only talking about his fitness this year. His fitness in previous years is irrelevant.

Fair enough.

He did say he would trade that mid price player to Lids, hence the comment ...

You can't pick a full team of keepers. It's not a wasted trade if you bring in Deledio down the track because you'd need to use the trade elsewhere anyway! Picking an initial team is all about maximising value, while ensuring you get a high amount of keepers. If you can find good value in your keepers, you've gone a long way to doing well.

On Deledio specifically, he doesn't offer much upside/value for me. He's still being managed for his calf and historically he doesn't average as well as he did last year, which suggests to me he is somewhat overpriced (even though he had a couple of poor scores last year).

I loved having Lids last year, but I was nervous of him missing a game every week! I recall Hardwick saying it would be a week to week proposition, and ironically the game he missed was due to illness, IIRC. I'll be looking for him as an upgrade target.

Yes Deledio is a poor pick to start the year, much better value in other areas.

From a Hawthorn perspective do you think players like Rioli, Breust, Puopolo and Gunstand become better scorers without Roughead? Do you see them suffering or do you see a young kid come in and hover around the 80 mark and everyone shares the load?

I'd actually argue that his fitness in the past two years is relevant considering it's the same recurring injury. The calf/Achilles is clearly something he will have to manage for the rest of his career and I doubt Richmond will take any risks with him.

Boring answer, but I rarely pick Hawks since buddy left and budget lost dpp, due to the shared workload amongst the team. Cyril is quite often an emotional choice of mine though, even though his hammys have burnt me many times. Youngsters I'm not sure if as I've been OS for 2 years and haven't kept up fully with draftees. FWIW I have none in my current team.

Go back to my initial statement. If he was fit right now, he would be a no brainer.

Chill everyone. Lids is fit.
Its just management of your best player.
Eg. NicNat, Fyfe, Ablett, Pendlebury, Ward, Cripps, Sloane, Bartel. I could go on but these guys are fit and have two legs and two arms.
None have played a single minute of NAB other than Fyfe who only played half a game.

This. So much this.

If these games were actually worth a damn Deledio would be playing.
He's done modified training for the last three years, this isn't anything new.

Interested to know why his PPG will go down, finally got released as a forward after years of having to play roles for us because he was in a weak team. It's easily his best posi and it's very SC friendly, why is he going to average 10 less this year?

Aaron Hall, I see him averaging 95+ and could be a handy F6. His string of games to end 2015 was elite for a forward. With Swallow and Omeara missing a fair chunk of the start of the season, Hall should again get plenty of midfield minutes and I'm close to locking him in as a POD.
Thoughts?

He's my F4 at the moment, and locked there are this stage. Still some time to go, but I see more upside in him than others in his price range.

At 428k he's a little too risky for me.

If he was in a team that will win alot of games, with 2 of their stars missing and 50k cheaper I might be keen.
Could be a great POD.

He was scoring amazingly in a terrible team, he's severely underpriced based on the form that got him a contract extension, especially when he was pretty close to being delisted mid year.

He definitely took a rocket from Rocket in his stride and with players missing stepped up big time.

I'd look at his TOG in those later games from last year and try to work out his role for this year.
Think he will see some midfield minutes but not as much as those last few games.
Swallow and JOM out helps.

Very much like Sam Gray last last year. With Polec and Wines back his midfield minutes will suffer.

Both proven they can play though. Could ba a nice POD, especially if named in the midfield in round 1.

Anyone have information about Montagna and Deledio? Are they both fully fit? If both line up for round 1, which one should I chose?
